BlueStamp Engineering is a six-week summer program through which high school students build projects of their choosing – such as robotics, solarpowered electronics, and medical devices – that reflect their own unique interests. MATH PREP & REVIEW Math is a series of building blocks, and a solid math foundation encourages continued academic growth. Through a blend of traditional classroom methods, crafts and games, instructors will implement creative exercises to introduce and review important math concepts in these twoweek workshops. Although the courses do not offer academic credit, repetitive guidance and practice will allow students to strengthen and reinforce their math skills, attain a jump-start on upcoming material, boost overall performance, and realize their highest potential in the coming year. Puppetry Camp is designed to help students uncover, reveal, develop and expand their creative side using puppetry. Puppetry gives students the freedom to explore their own identity and express feelings, fears and other emotions without the risk of rejection since it is the puppets that do the talking. During puppetry camp, students will learn the art, craft and skills necessary to design and make puppets, to create and develop characters, to write skits that promote conflict resolution and address their societal, emotional and developmental needs; and to expand the creativity that lies within them. GAMEBUILDER VIDEO GAME CREATION (PM)

During this camp, participants will work with a partner to build their very own devices – elementary students will create a spaghetti bridge, middle school students will construct a fully functioning helicopter, and high school students will build gliders – and compete against other campers in the WCS Science Olympiad at the end of the week. Students will also participate in activities designed to introduce them to methods and techniques in experimental design and forensics.

Campers will learn basic programming skill and have a blast thinking of new ways to create exciting video games. Camp begins with an introduction to GameMaker software. Students are then taught through a step-by-step progression to build a one-of-a kind video game. They will then learn to add rooms, walls, backgrounds, new levels, music, scoring, health and many other great features. At the end of the camp, participants receive instruction on how to download the software and their completed games. Does your student love math and numbers? The Number Sense Math Camp is an opportunity for students entering 5th through 9th grades to learn more about mental math. They can amaze and delight others as they multiply, divide and square at lightning-fast speed. Participants will learn the “tricks” of mental math calculation in a fun and engaging way and then practice as they progress through various level of proficiency. This camp is great for preparing for Number Sense competitions and for developing mathematical problem-solving skills as the students increase in speed and accuracy.

Campers use Microsoft’s Kodu video game creation software to create their own worlds, complete with mountains, rivers, valleys, rock formations, etc. Then they learn to add characters and make them interact, battle or complete tasks in a game with scoring, dialogue, enemy objects, timers and health. After completing a custom curriculum for level 1, students can further unleash their creativity by building multiple levels.
