We set the standard for ice skating camps in Fairfield County. Recreational and aspiring figure and hockey skaters alike build skills quickly with two group lessons and two practices a day. Off-ice fun includes hip hop, martial arts, fitness, and dance. Younger campers also enjoy arts and crafts, jewelry making, the Critter Caravan, and games, while teens get extra ice time to hone their skating skills. Snack and lunch times are fully supervised in our Legends Café overlooking the East rink.

Twin Rinks is home to the most comprehensive summer program in Fairfield County for advanced figure skaters and rising figure skating stars alike, with five daily practice sessions, Monday – Friday (three sessions on Saturdays), and off-ice training to improve fitness, strength, flexibility, and musicality. Your customized training program includes: One or two daily practice sessions, on-ice clinics (to build power, agility, control, and speed), ballet, jazz, fitness, martial arts, and hip hop classes and extra figure skating sessions to meet your schedule (private lessons available). Figure Skating Training Program students choose one or two freestyle sessions per day.

Youth Skating, Adult Skating, Advanced Figure hit the ice. Never been coached by champion techniques you’ll learn will stay with you for a better skaters, plain and simple.

Freestyle Sessions Dedicated ice time allows up-and-coming and advanced figure skaters alike to practice their jumping, spinning, moves in the field, and ice dancing skills in a safe environment. Skaters, including beginners, may schedule private lessons with the Twin Rinks professional of their choice during these sessions. June 15 - 20

Take a break from the heat and keep your skating skills sharp with our group classes, taught by the area’s most qualified instructors. Summer classes are available in convenient 3 - or 4 -week sessions. Choose the 2 or 3 day-a-week option. All classes include a 25 - minute lesson and 25 - minute supervised practice. + B  eginners learn correct skating technique — forward and backward stroking and glides, stops, turns — while having fun and building confidence. + Intermediate skaters improve their skills with edges, crossovers, one-foot turns, and beginning jumps and spins. + Advanced  skaters will challenge themselves with increasingly difficult figure skating maneuvers. Everyone can earn badges to mark their progress through the nationally recognized U.S. Figure Skating curriculum! Ages 3 and up. Adult classes offered Tuesday/Thursday at 10:00am only.

No skating program would be complete without dance and fitness classes to improve strength and conditioning, flexibility, agility, and musicality and grace. Our summer program includes ballet, ballet/stretch, hip hop, martial arts, fitness, and jazz, all taught by highly-qualified professionals who love working with kids. Meet the Coaches Emily Lowenthal Cassella and Francis X. Cassella, Skating Directors: Nationally-known PSA Master-rated coaches Emily and Frank Cassella have directed the Twin Rinks figure skating and Basic Skills programs for 19 years. A gold medalist in figures, freestyle, and ice dancing, Emily is a member of the Skating Club of Lake Placid Hall of Fame. Frank, the 1971 U.S. National Junior Dance Champion, is a gold medalist in ice dancing and free dancing and a four-time U.S. National competitor. Karen Christensen: Karen has coached in the southern Connecticut region for over 20 years. She trained in figures, freestyle, and ice dancing and performed with Ice Capades Continental Company. June Clark: A U.S. Figure Skating double gold medalist, June has coached in the region and at the Lake Placid Olympic Training Center for over 20 years. She previously was head coach at the New Canaan Winter Club and directed her own skating school at the Darien Ice Rink. Sabrina Ericson: Sabrina, an ice dancing gold medalist, has taught in Colorado and southern Connecticut for 15 years. She also has trained in figures, Moves in the Field, and freestyle, and coaches many aspiring hockey players, as well. Ekaterina Gvozdkova: Katia hails from Moscow, where she competed with her ice dancing partner for the Russian National Team. Her international successes include three-time gold medalist at the Russian Cup and Bronze medalist at the ISU International competition in France. Katia holds an International Level Master of Sport ranking and studied figure skating choreography. Susan Marie Hamel-Bottari: Susan has competed in figures, freestyle, Moves in the Field, and pairs, winning the Adult Junior Ladies National Championship and Adult National Pairs bronze medal. She is a two-time New England Regional Ladies Champion and performed with Holiday on Ice’s International Ice Show in Europe. Larisa Lomonosova: Larisa trained in Russia and coached figure skating at Moscow’s Luzhniki Skating Rink. She has toured extensively in ice shows throughout the world, including Ballet on Ice in Russia, Japan, France, and the UAE. Larisa also is a trained gymnast.

Terri Ann Lowenthal: Terri trained in ice dancing, freestyle, and figures under several elite coaches in southern Connecticut and Lake Placid and has been coaching for more than 40 years. Previously a Skating Director in Washington, DC, overseeing the nationally-acclaimed Kids On Ice® program. Jenette Maitz: Jenette is a gold medalist in freestyle, ice dance, free dance, and Moves in the Field. She was the 2010 Turkish National Ice Dance Champion and a member of Turkey’s World Team. Marina Spagnuolo: Marina trains students, from beginners to the most senior levels, in freestyle, Moves in the Field, and synchronized skating. A coach for almost 30 years, Marina was head professional of the Terry Conners Synchronized Skating Program in Stamford from 1995–2003. Janet Thomson: Janet has trained in Ice dancing, freestyle, and Moves in the Field, and competed in the Boston area, over a 30+-year skating career. She was a skating instructor from 1978–83 at the University of Connecticut. Anwar Berry: Anwar has an extensive background in film, television, modeling, theater, and choreography. His “Re-Mixx Hip Hop” style blends hip hop, ‘popping,’ ‘breaking,’ jazz, reggae, modern dance, and ballet. Adrienne Riter: Adrienne trained and danced with The Portland Ballet in her native Oregon. She holds a BFA degree in Dance and was a teaching artist at the Bodyvox Dance Center. Kaylin Carlucci: Kaylin received her BFA degree in Dance from SUNY Purchase College and teaches in the Connecticut/New York area. Bonnie and James Gombos: Bonnie and James are 4th degree black belts in the art of Shaolin Kempo Karate and have taught students of all ages and skill levels at the Darien Arts Center for the past seven years.
