AND FOR THOSE WHO HAVE DIED RECENTLY

Rose Corcoran Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Amen Better that only a few Catholics should be left, staunch and sincere in their religion, than that they should, remaining many, desire as it were, to be in collusion with the Church’s enemies and in conformity with the open foes of our faith. St. Peter Canisius S.J.

CHURCH COLLECTION Sun. June 1st. $ 9,889.00 We appreciate the generosity of you, our parishioners. When we have a second collection, people tend to split their usual offering between the two collections, which is understandable given the pressure of our economic times. However we rely on the first collection to keep the parish going and pay the bills. We ask that if there are two collections you include the usual amount you give in the first collection and do the best with the second if you are able to.

FROM THE DESK OF FR. MIZZI-GILI 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time Father’s Day June 21, 2015 Greetings to one and All! We continue Mark’s Gospel and this week, we hear about the Apostles in the boat and the violent storm that almost caused a shipwreck. This week’s readings have much to say about how we choose to allow God in our life. Why? Simply because, those who have God in their life, meaning they truly believe, know that with God even the most difficult things are a little easier to handle. The Apostles are terrified. They are overcome with fear, so they begin to panic. We would say that is a normal reaction; but! we are leaving out one particular person-JESUS CHRIST. If they truly know that God is with them, why would they be terrified? The reason is they did not know Him. Our Lord quiets the storm and asks, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” They said to one another, “Who then is this whom even wind and sea obey? Look at the reactions of the Apostles and see the common reactions of us today. Are they not the same? Our Lord makes still the storm in our lives for those who have faith. What is Faith but a gift from God Himself. It is not to be taken likely nor is it to be misguided. Our lives are filled with many things that consume us. Jesus says in Matthew’s Gospel that don’t stop thinking about tomorrow. The day’s evil is sufficient in of itself. In other words, we are not to take on things that will overburden us to the point of losing our faith, hope and trust in God. When we do tackle the things of the day, we are to say a prayer to God for Him to guide us always. He wants us to invite Him into our hearts, minds and souls. All our being is to bless His holy name. No matter what type of storm we are facingsadness, anger, frustration, anxiety, depression, loneliness- whatever the case maybe, know that our Lord is with us always. Just say a little prayer- Lord, help us through this day. Stay with me always. Mother Mary, be my guide. When we ask the question, “Who is this that even wind and sea obey?” We respond, “It is the Lord.” God Bless you All! To all those men who are fathers, Godfathers, grandfathers, uncles or men who act in these roles, a very Blessed Father’s day to you! Buona Domenica!

Good Sunday!
