SHARING OUR GIFTS PROGRAM
The Icla Da Silva Foundation will hold a drive in our parish on Sunday, December 5th, from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. This foundation is dedicated in assisting people who suffer from leukemia and need a bone morrow transplant. You could be a match to the thousands of patients that need such a transplant. Please come and save a life!!
We want to express our gratitude to every one who generously welcomed our invitation to “Sharing Our Gifts Program” which began two week ego. WORLD YOUTH DAY 2011 IN MADRID The World Youth Day Festival will take place next year 2011 with Pope Benedict XVI in Madrid, Spain. It is a world youth Festival around Jesus, the pope and thousands of young people. If you are interested in attending and would like to know how, please speak to Father Rodriguez.
DRY FOOD DRIVE As we approach Thanksgiving Day on November 25th, if you are able to donate some dry food for those most in need in the parish, please bring them to the Rectory on Sunday or during the week. COLLECTION FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT This weekend of November 20/21, the annual national collection for Human Development will be taken at all the Masses as a second collection. PARISH YOUTH GROUP Once again we encourage all youth from the parish to participate in the parish youth group every Tuesday from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the Prayer Hall.
THE FAMILY MASS Our Family Mass is celebrated at 10 am every Sunday for the children and teenagers preparing for the Sacraments and their parents. The Mass is bilingual (English and Spanish) and the children and the youth are encouraged to take active participation with the readings, songs, collection etc. Participation in Holy Mass is mandatory for every child in the Sacramental Program. November 21, 2010 Our Lord Jesus Christ the King “YES” TO THE KING The Church crowns the year of grace, its liturgical year, with the solemnity of Christ the King. We could assume that a celebration of this magnitude would provide us with an easy, clear presentation of who Christ is and who he calls us to be. But this feast flings the paradoxes of Christ’s kingship in our face. Is Christ allpowerful? Is he the Messiah, the Anointed of God? Is he a victim, powerless in the hands of mortal rulers? Is he dead on the cross? Is he alive in the splendor of eternal light? Is the inscription above his head true? Is he Shepherd or slaughtered lamb? The answer is “Yes.” What may be even more difficult is that we have also answered “Yes” to following this complex, paradoxical King who reigns from the cross of death, who upsets our expectations and challenges us to upset many of the expectations of the world around us. But before we despair of being able to sustain the difficulty of this mission, we are also strengthened by Paul’s words to the Colossians. We are reminded that if we keep our eyes fixed on the cross, the throne of Christ, we will also find and know the source of our reconciliation, our peace, and our hope to join him, sharing the inheritance of the holy ones in light everlasting. © Copyright, J. 21 de noviembre de 2010 Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey del Universo “SÍ” AL REY La Iglesia corona el año de gracia, su año litúrgico, con la solemnidad de Cristo Rey. Tendemos a asumir que una celebración de esta magnitud proveería una fácil y clara presentación de quién es Cristo y qué nos llama a ser. Pero esta fiesta nos lanza al rostro las paradojas del reinado de Cristo. ¿Es Cristo todopoderoso? ¿Es él el Mesías, el Ungido de Dios? ¿Es él una victima impotente en manos de gobernantes mortales? ¿Está muerto en la cruz? ¿Vive en el esplendor de la luz eterna? ¿Es verdad la inscripción sobre su cabeza? ¿Es él el Pastor o el cordero sacrificado? La respuesta es: “Sí”. Lo que puede ser más difícil todavía es que hemos respondido “sí” y seguimos a este complejo y paradójico Rey que reina desde la cruz de la muerte, quien trastorna nuestras expectativas y nos desafía a trastornar las expectativas del mundo que nos rodea. Pero antes de que perdamos la esperanza de ser capaces de sostener esta difícil misión, también nos fortalecen las palabras de san Pablo a los colosenses. Nos recuerdan que mantengamos los ojos fijos en la cruz, el trono de Cristo, donde encontramos y conocemos la fuente de nuestra reconciliación, nuestra paz y nuestra esperanza de unirnos a él, compartiendo la herencia de su pueblo santo en el reino de la luz. © Copyright, J. MISA DE LA FAMILIA La Misa de la Familia es celebrada todos los domingos a las 10 a.m. para los niños/as, y los jóvenes del Catecismo, y sus padres. La Misa es bilingüe (ingles y español), y se invita a los niños y jóvenes del Catecismo a participar activamente con las lecturas, los cantos, la colecta etc. Cada niño/ joven, debió de recibir un paquetito de sobres para el uso de las ofrendas en la Misa dominical. Los padres con niños/as en el Segundo Año de Comunión tienen su Reunión de Catequesis HOY domingo 21 de Noviembre después de la Misa de 10 am, comenzando a las 11:15 am en el Salón de la Escuela. Estas reuniones catequéticas son mandata-
rias por la Arquidiócesis de Nueva York para todos los que tienen a sus hijos en formación religiosa.

CAMPANA DE MEDULA OCEA La Fundacion Icla Da Silva que se dedica a ayudar a pacientes con Leukemia tendra su campana aqui en la parroquia el domingo 5 de Diciembre, de 9:30 am a 2:00 pm. Miles de pacientes necesitan de trasplante de medulla ocea para poder vivir. Su asistencia es muy importante.
