FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

Dear Parishioners, This Sunday celebrates the Baptism of the Lord, which officially ends the Christmas Season and begins the Season of Ordinary Time. We remember today Jesus’ Baptism in the Jordan River by John the Baptist and the inauguration of His public ministry. Our liturgical celebration also reminds us of our own Baptism, our membership in God’s Family of the Church and our sharing in the mission of Jesus. All of us, by Baptism, are called to lives of ministry and service. In practical terms, this means that we are to be “givers” not “takers,” asking not what the parish can do for me, but what can I do for my parish. Let us, therefore, embrace the spirit of Pope Francis who challenges all of us to bring the spirit of love, mercy, compassion and generosity to our community. Msgr. Mahoney

Mons. Mahoney
