Purpose of Position To provide a comprehensive, accessible, culturally sensitive and respectful mental health service to children, adolescents and their families/whanau within a multi-disciplinary context. This role is based at the Kari Centre in Greenlane; and will include the provision of assessments, reports, liaison & consultation. Where appropriate to provide focused short term mental health and addiction interventions with children & adolescents and their whanau referred through the Youth Justice System. Services may be delivered in the community, at Court, or at the CYF Youth Justice/Care and Protection Residences.
Key Accountabilities Clinical: Provide occupationally appropriate and comprehensive assessments and treatment for clients and their families/whanau in a multi-disciplinary context, and participate in regular clinical supervision. Active participation in multi agency health and development team, including interagency collaboration over decision making, information sharing, and interagency reviews. Contribution to multi agency and multidisciplinary care plans for clients. Provide high standard written reports suitable for use by the Court, CYF, and Family Group Conferences. To provide focused and evidence based Mental Health treatment and therapies for young people and their whanau. Professional: Maintain membership of appropriate professional body and to uphold the standards of that body within the service and whilst liaising with other agencies.
Cultural Competence: Demonstrate an understanding and application of cultural competence in work with clients from other cultures. Training/Research: Undertake such training in child and adolescent mental health if this is assessed as a developmental need with the approval of the Service Manager / Clinical Co-ordinator / Clinical Supervisor.
Maintain a professional obligation to remain informed about clinical issues pertinent to work with children, adolescents and their families/whanau.
Contribute to evaluation and monitoring of service.
Service Development & Delivery: Maintain a responsibility to contribute to the development and delivery of the service, support consumer representation in that process and adhere to a client focus/family orientation.
