Position Overview The Digital Content Specialist works within AITSL’s Communications, Online and Social Media (COSM) team. Alongside our people, the AITSL website is the organisation’s most valuable asset and a hub of highly regarded policies, tools and resources for education professionals across Australia. The focus of this role is to provide specialist web content, technical expertise and solutions to strengthen engagement with our external audiences and to maximise the reach and impact of our work. The role will also support the delivery of targeted digital campaigns, as well as coordinating web analytics to inform the continuous improvement of the user experience and the performance of our website overall.

Duties & Responsibilities The Digital Content Specialist plays a key role in maintaining the AITSL website, optimising the user experience and supporting internal content owners in the development and management of web content. The role requires skills across the entire content lifecycle, from content planning and content management to web analytics and archiving. The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for training internal content owners and providing ongoing support, with a view to protecting the integrity, usability and performance of the website. As part of a small and dynamic team the Digital Content Specialist will be required to work flexibly on a range of communications projects including social media, digital campaigns and drafting, editing and publishing documents. Specifically the Digital Content Specialist will be required to work in the following areas: Website Content Management & Publishing •

Edit and publish web content (text, images and multimedia), apply metadata and optimise accessibility and SEO.



Implement robust web content management processes and workflows across the web content lifecycle, ensuring adequate review, updating and archiving.



Consistently apply user experience and personalisation (user journey) principles to enhance the AITSL website.



Coordinate content management solutions that support organisational needs while ensuring the ongoing integrity of the AITSL website.



Train new content owners in CMS and provide ongoing support to ensure best practice.



Responsible for identifying continuous improvement opportunities for the website and working with content owners to implement them.

Communications and Editing •

Write and edit web content and other communications, in accordance with style guides and Tone of Voice principles.



Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.



Where required, support and monitor social media activity.

Campaigns and Reporting •

Support the delivery of eDM communications and manage data lists.



Support the delivery and provide advice for end-to-end campaigns (email and social media) targeted to specific AITSL audiences, ensuring audience focus and performance analysis.



Use web data analytics to improve the end user experience and inform content management strategy.



Provide relevant and comprehensible web data and reports to AITSL and content owners, identifying areas for performance improvement.



Undertake other duties as directed by the Manager and consistent with the employee’s skills and competence.

Selection Criteria 1.

Knowledge and Proficiency



Advanced skills in using Content Management Systems (CMS), SEO and Google Analytics.



Intermediate skills in HTML, CSS and Photoshop.



Extensive understanding of the role of a CMS with regards to brand consistency and integrity.



UX proficiency in analysing user journeys to improve the user experience and provide valuable insights to the business/organisation.



Understanding of WCAG/accessibility principles and privacy laws (related to personal data) and the ability to apply relevant policies.



Experience in implementing archiving strategies and processes and consistent cation of tagging and meta data.

Adept at scoping, planning and providing practical solutions to facilitate web content management.



Ability to implement robust web content processes and workflow solutions in a complex organisation.



Experience developing relevant and comprehensible web data analytics and reports, with a view to identifying opportunities for improvement.

Strong verbal communication and stakeholder management skills.



Well-developed writing skills with experience creating contemporary content for online and social media channels.



Ability to communicate content management strategy and UX principles and bring others along on the journey.



Adept at working collaboratively and cohesively, developing solutions with cross-functional teams.



Ability to train new or inexperienced content owners in using the CMS, embed best practice and provide ongoing support.

Robust analytical and strategic skills and capacity to see the ‘big picture’ with regards to web content management.

Selection Criteria (desirable) •

Experience with Sitefinity CMS



Experience with video editing software



Experience in InDesign



Experience with CRM systems



Experience in web design and/or migration projects

Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualification in communications and/or multimedia discipline and/or equivalent combination of relevant experience.
