This position description must be read in conjunction with Premier Youthworks Code of Conduct, Policies and Procedures, and appropriate standards and regulations relevant to operations. Position Summary The purpose and responsibility of the Residential Team Manager role is to ensure delivery of quality services, provide leadership and direction to a team of residential care workers within Premier Youthworks (PYW) Residential Care Services Program, and ensure the Case Plans are implemented for each child and young person in PYW Care within a home environment that is well functioning, in good working order and managed to meet PYW standards at all times. The Residential Team Manager is required to role model appropriate conduct, lead by example in working with each child and young person and ensure all members of their team are in compliance with PYW Policies and Procedures. Key Responsibility Areas (KRA’s)

1. People Management: · Recruit, induct and train residential care workers · Provide leadership and support to residential care workers through regular supervision, role modelling, support and effective communications. · Deliver relevant training modules as directed by the Case Manager · Coach Carers to deliver sound practice and quality services · Manage Carer performance to policy standards 2. Role Model expected behaviours and attitudes · Demonstrates sound teamwork through consultation, active listening, support, understanding and respect. · Role modelling of Code of Conduct behaviours 3. House Management: · Ensure each residence is set up as a homely environment, it is well functioning and in good working order that meets PYW safety and presentation standards 4. Client Management: · Ensure the daily care and activities of children and young people are carried out · Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure regular and open communications 5. Safety Management · Ensure all carers and houses are compliant with PYW safety policies, procedures and practices 6. General Management · Manage house and team budgets and ensure reporting requirements are met · Any task identified by the Residential Case Manger as required by the role

Organisation and Work Environment Organisation Premier Youthworks provides therapeutic support and residential programs for children and young people who have experienced significant trauma, abuse and neglect. The organisation operates under a philosophy of Unconditional Positive Regard, meaning we are able to provide a consistent, predictable environment that allows children and young people to feel valued and safe. Our goal is to provide a consistent team approach, providing positive outcomes for children and young people through the development of self-esteem, living skills and independence. Premier Youthworks believe that a consistent approach, based on individual strengths, is fundamental to unlocking the potential for young people in care and the personal development of our people. Program Overview The Premier Youthworks model provides out of home care for young people between 12 and 17 years of age who have suffered personal trauma, abuse or neglect through the early stages of life. Our program operates as part of an integrated service with Family and Community Services, providing respite, short-term, medium-term, long-term therapeutic residential care and semi-independence for children and young people in need. Our team of residential care workers also provides both out of home care and non-residential support services such as youth work support, mentoring and provision of supervised family contact. Work Environment The position holder will spend the majority of their time in houses, but will need to access the regional office for reporting, recruiting. Meeting and training purposes. The position holder will need to be able to sit for extended periods of time while using a laptop, drive for short intermittent periods and move about frequently with carers and clients. While in houses the position holder will be in regular contact with PYW clients, who may display challenging or offensive behaviours. Key Challenges of the role · · · · · · ·

Ensure that each home has appropriate staffing at all times. This may involve assisting with filling shifts at short notice. Ensure the client needs are met at all times Ensure that staff are compliant with policy and reporting appropriately at all times, on such issues as client matters, safety, repairs and maintenance and potential risks to clients, employees and the organisation. The position holder will need to build sustainable relationships both internally and externally to achieve client and organisational goals. The position holder will need to be able to deal with emotionally charged situations that may include some level of physical violence from PYW clients. Multi-tasking in a time challenged environment.
