Great customer service is a key requirement for Guest Room Inspector; who strives to exceed our customer’s expectations. You will be responsible for ensuring that the Housekeeping Associates have completed their assigned tasks effectively and efficiently. You will inspect VIP guest rooms prior to their arrival daily to ensure that our high standards are met. As a Guest Room Inspector, you will attend a mandatory meeting at the beginning of each shift, where you will be assigned your section and tasks. These meetings, called pre-shifts are about 15 minutes long. In addition to receiving your assigned section and tasks for your shift, your Supervisor will update you on current events, promotions, departmental announcements or changes to polices, programs and any other information that you will need to be successful during your shift. At all times, you will be expected to promote Casino amenities, such as our restaurants, entertainment and gaming operations. You will interact directly with our guests and this role requires individuals with a warm, friendly personality with an understanding of delivering service with a smile.

The Resort Operations Department The Resort Operations Department is a large division in Niagara Casinos which includes, Front Services, Housekeeping, Hotel Front Office, a Spa and Health Club, Environmental Services, Resort Sales, Engineering, Laundry and Warehouse. The organizational structure of the Resort Operations Department includes an Executive Director of Resort Operations, a Director of Resort Sales, a Director of Facilities, a Director Environmental Services, a Front Services Manager, a Front Office Manager, a Housekeeping Manager, a Spa and Health Club Manager, an Engineering Manager, a Laundry Manger, a Materials Manager, and an Environmental Services Manager. There are Supervisors in each sub department. The Resort Operations Department has approximately 500 Associates in total, who work at both properties in the various sub departments. The Hotel Housekeeping Team The Housekeeping team consists of a Director of Environmental Services, a Housekeeping Manager, Housekeeping Supervisors, Housekeeping Associates, Housekeeping Attendants and a Guest Room Inspector. There are approximately 80 Associates in the Housekeeping team who work at Fallsview Casino Resort only. The department is lead by the Housekeeping Manager and Housekeeping Supervisors who manage each shift. The Guest Room Inspector reports to Housekeeping Supervisors. The ability to work on your own is essential in this position. This is a single incumbent position and once you have received your tasks for the shift it is expected that you are completing your duties as assigned. According to our Guest Room Inspector, the amount of supervision you can expect is… “Minimal, I work on my own most of every day. Locations and Shift Length Where are some of the locations I will work? What is the length of my shifts? There is one full time Guest Room Inspector who works in the hotel at Fallsview Casino Resort. Niagara Casinos operate 24 hours a day, year-round however Guest Room Inspector coverage is provided during the day shift only. You will be scheduled for eight-hour shifts that include 2-30 minute breaks. It is important to remember that Public holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day are occasions when people typically spend time with their families, however, our business operates on these days and you will be required to work. The requirement to work holidays and weekends will happen for many years. These are facts that you should consider prior to applying for the position.

Training What type of training will I receive as a new Guest Room Inspector? External hires will initially participate in our company New Hire Orientation training. This is a comprehensive day and a half program designed to familiarize you with Niagara Casinos’ policies and procedures. This training will include other new Associates of the organization. All new Associates of Niagara Casinos are required to serve a 90-day probationary period. Your department orientation training program will take place within a few days after your New Hire Orientation training. This training is approximately 9 days long and includes a mix of classroom style training where you will receive specific information on your departmental Policies and Procedures, standards, performance expectations, job duties, a tour of the hotel and Fallsview Casino Resort property and several days of “job shadowing”. Job shadowing involves working along side a Housekeeping Attendant and “job shadow” him/her in the role. This job shadowing is a form of on-the-job training to ensure that you are able to fulfill the requirements of the role. The length of job shadowing will be dependent upon your housekeeping experience. Once you have finished your job shadowing, you will receive a final assessment which will determine whether you are able to perform the position alone. If you are successful, you will then be scheduled based upon business needs. If you are unsuccessful, a member of the supervisory team will identify your specific areas for improvement. You will be provided with assistance to help you achieve the expected performance levels and behaviours.
