Oxfam’s Major Donor Team is responsible for developing and maintaining innovative, ambitous and sustainable partnerships with high net worth individuals. The Team deliver substantial income to support Oxfam’s work and is a vital part of our Philanthropy & Partnerships Department. FUNDRAISING DIVISION VISION: To engage with the general public, corporate partners, HNWIs and trusts in such a way that income is generated and grown on a sustainable basis.

To deliver innovative, ambitious and financially productive longterm relationships with HNWIs.

JOB PURPOSE:

To lead major donor fundraising for Oxfam's Enterprise Development Programme (EDP), a high profile fundraising committee of senior volunteers providing business-focused solutions to help entrepreneurs in the developing world work their way out of poverty.

To develop and implement the new business strategy to establish new HNWI relationships for Oxfam that will generate significant long term income. To recruit and support the EDP Chair and Board members supporting them to take responsibility for delivering financial and other objectives

The Fundraising Job Family exists to raise financial resources to enable Oxfam to fund and deliver its programme.

Purpose of a Level B within the Fundraising Job Family: Manage unit resources and people. Establish and meet unit strategies and budgets in order to achieve fundraising and/or donor care strategies.

DIMENSIONS:



Develop, build upon and deliver the Major Gifts’ Team strategy to increase income from HNWIs



Translate this strategy into plans and activities, working closely with colleagues across Philanthropy and Partnerships, and other key stakeholders within the organisation



Proactively develop new HNWI relationships and lead organisation-wide projects to deliver income for Oxfam



Prospect and solicit support for Oxfam’s work by prioritising external targeted engagement with HNWIs



Research, preparation and presentation of approaches, pitches and proposals; working with information in varied formats/sources and which relate to the work of more than one unit, department and Division

Resolve complex team and cross-Divisional problems which are often varied in nature to deliver the best outcome for Oxfam



Plan work up to three years ahead, and contribute to strategic planning



Influence and negotiate with a wide range of people, often at senior level and on a frequent basis



May involve line management of Levels C/D/E s and volunteers and research and communications staff outside direct line management

KEY



Lead EDP fundraising into Phase 2 of the programme, recruiting a new EDP Fundraising Board and working with them to deliver and implement a fundraising plan to raise £6m across 5 years.



Working with senior volunteers to engage prominent and wealthy prospects, including those from the financial and corporate sector, maximising their potential for Oxfam.



Participate in the development and delivery of the Major Gifts Team’s strategy to increase income from HNWIs



Be ambitious and proactive in identifying, engaging potential Major Gift supporters and committee members, negotiating on Oxfam’s behalf to secure significant financial contributions



Proactively network and engage with senior stakeholders to raise the profile of Oxfam with prospective Major Gift supporters



Work closely with Oxfam’s CEO, Leadership Team and Trustees to support the delivery of new business, supporting them maximise the potential of new and existing high value external relationships



Work closely with the Supporter Research and Cultivation Team to research and cultivate new supporters, and ensure key trends, competitor analysis and other market data is tracked



Monitor internal and external developments that could affect funding from HNWIs in the philanthropic and business communities



Participate in overseas visits with Major Gift prospects and supporters



Support the Head of Major Gifts and/or other account managers during busy periods



Steward new strategic relationships to appropriate functions within Oxfam



Play a leading role in ensuring that the Major Gifts Team becomes a fundraising centre of excellence

This is an exciting new position in a high-performing and ambitious team. To be a success in this role you need to be ready to hit the ground running. You’ll need to be a confident and adept networker, with the ability to spot and quickly action opportunities as they arise. Some unsocial hours and UK/International travel are features of this post.
