PURPOSE Tearfund’s vision is to see 50 million people released from material and spiritual poverty through a worldwide network of 100,000 local churches. The Global Fundraising Group are called to make people living in poverty visible. We provide compelling ways to respond to poverty and injustice – rooted in our understanding of integral mission. Through this we are a transformational influence in the UK Church. To help us outwork this we need excellently run projects. This role manages marketing, communications, fundraising, campaigning, digital and other projects, often in situations where there are multiple teams required to deliver the project objectives.

ROLE You will have the following roles: 

As a Project Manager: You will assemble, lead and develop strong teams, who will take responsibility for projects from initiation through to implementation and evaluation, ensuring the project delivers on its objectives. You will also advocate the project management framework and train and assist others in applying it.



As a Work Package Manager: You will work under the direction of a project manager to deliver a work package as part of an overall project.



As a Spiritual Leader: You will engender and model Christ-centeredness, compassion, courageousness, truthfulness and servant-heartedness throughout the Tearfund community, particularly between teams in the Group.

RESPONSIBILITY Projects are commissioned by the Group’s senior management team at Supporter Communications Planning meetings. Based on direction from this team, for each project you are responsible for, you will help set objectives, parameters, resources required and budgets. Project Managers take responsibility for projects from the point objectives are set, through product creation, implementation, promotion and evaluation.

TASKS We run a diverse range of projects across the group, and therefore your organisational tasks will often emerge from prevailing context, changing needs and external challenges. Each project is likely to have a strong fundraising emphasis and is likely to include some or all of the following tasks during the four stages of a project. As project leaders we require project managers to hands meaning they need to be present in the office to resolve issues. Project Scoping During the scoping phase you will be expected to: 

Ensure you have clear and feasible objectives



Scope the project in terms of time and budget



Write a Concept Note for the project

Project Initiation During the initiation phase you will be expected to: 

Resource Planning - including, time, budgeting both expenditure and forecasting income and securing capacity from creative agencies



Schedule - Using tools such as excel and MS project



Formulate a project team - Choosing the required level of expertise for the project



Promotional Planning - using media, post, web, social media, telemarketing teams, internal comms



On occasions, plan an overseas trip to gather marketing material



If required, formulate the asks and key messages for a fundraising project



Write the project’s terms of reference (ToR)

Project Implementation During the initiation phase you will be expected to: 

‘Kick-off’ the project with a formal meeting and chair project meetings as required



Confirm and amend your allocation of resource for the project via a change control if required



Implement work packages such as creative work, trip, logistics, events organisation



Communicate on the project’s progress with SMEs and stakeholders, resolving issues as required



Maintain a record of learning



Write and implement a promotion plan



Ensure the project maintains the quality of outputs and will deliver to time and budget

Project Close During the project close phase you will be expected to: 

Complete a project evaluation including analysis



Summarise and record key learnings

Project Training and Support As part of the project management team you will model excellence in project management across the Global Fundraising group. As a credible PM you will train others in the project management framework and help and support colleagues.

Other Tasks From time to time you will be required to preform other tasks, such as: team tasks, arranging or participating in team events, deputising for your line manager and other tasks that will be appropriate for your role. To attend corporate weekly Staff Prayers on Wednesdays, to hear of Tearfund’s work and to spend time in prayer and worship together. TEARFUND INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS JOB TITLE: Marketing Project Manager OFFICE HOURS: Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm with one hour for lunch. 35 hour working week ANNUAL LEAVE - FULL YEAR: 25 days pro-rata + statutory bank hols + additional day at Christmas SICK LEAVE SCHEME: Based on length of service NON-CONTRIBUTORY PENSION SCHEME: Tearfund will contribute 10% of your salary to your pension. All staff are contractually enrolled onto the Tearfund group pension scheme NEW STAFF SERVICE: 6 months probationary period with a 3 month review SALARY: £29,845 per annum
