Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament Wednesdays in Church, 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. with Benediction at 6:30 p.m. “Adoration outside Holy Mass prolongs and intensifies what has taken place in the liturgical celebration and makes a true and profound reception of Christ possible. I . . . warmly recommend, to Pastors and to all the faithful, the practice of Eucharistic adoration” (Pope Benedict XVI, June 10, 2007).

Abortion is dangerous. The abortion industry is one of the least regulated medical fields and usually attracts the least qualified doctors. Women are often being taken from abortion killing centers in ambulances because of botched abortions and incompetent medical practices; many of them die. This fact is suppressed in the media.

Restoring Hope, it’s What Matters Most The Man Born Blind Reached Out…. Joann was in a dark place. She had supported herself for several years with a good job in the suburbs. Now she was homeless with her young child. Joann hadn’t counted on the costs of raising a child on her own, and when her car broke down, causing her to lose her job, she quickly found herself in financial trouble. Luckily, Joann reached out to Catholic Charities and its transitional housing program. Today, Joann has savings and is gradually taking over payment of all her expenses. “I’m so grateful for this program ….I feel God has brought me here,” she says. Your gift to the Catholic Charities Collection on Mother’s Day will help more people like Joann move from darkness to light.

St. Thecla School News News from Second Grade Happy Spring! The super Second Graders at St. Thecla School are always working hard. At this time, the students are focused on preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. In class the students drew beautiful pictures of the Last Supper and discussed the importance of the first Mass. In addition to preparing for the Sacraments, time has been spent studying about St. Patrick and St. Joseph. We learned that St. Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland and also the meaning of shamrocks. In Grammar class descriptive stories about "adventures" are being written. Students are encouraged to spark their creativity by incorporating lessons they have learned through the writing process. Keep up the good work! Correct grammar mechanics are taught, as well as using words to help expand their vocabulary. In Math the topic has been "Time." This is a favorite among our group of Second Graders. Students wrote their own daily schedules and drew clocks with the correct time on them. This activity helped with the concept of tasks being completed on a daily basis. Second Graders will continue to keep busy in all subject areas as the rest of the school year goes on. Miss Cegielski
