Loaves and Fishes of Minnesota was a finalist for a grant sponsored by United Way. They were awarded the grant to set up a farm to grow fresh vegetables to be used by all the local Loaves and Fishes sites. They hope to have land donated or to rent it cheaply. They are considering several sites in the Metro area. The money will be used to purchase supplies, tools, and seeds. They have three project coordinators who have experience managing large farms. Part of the grant is that United Way will provide volunteer workers. Additional volunteers are requested for the following:  General Gardening (no specific preference)  Prepping Soil  Planting  Weeding  Transporting vegetables from farm to sites  Cooking meals at sites utilizing the farm fresh vegetables. Web address to volunteer or donate money will be forwarded upon request to Sandy Connor at [email protected].
