Travel through Time with Guildford Museum Visit Guildford Museum to travel from a time before history to the world of modern man. Our unique displays exploring the local history of Guildford bring together important artefacts from the borough collection as well as historical treasures generously loaned by Surrey Archaeological Society and private collectors.

Finds Identification Finds identification sessions are held at Guildford Museum on the second Saturday of each month from 11am to 1pm and visitors are encouraged to bring along any items found locally. Finds Liaison Officer for the Portable Antiquities Scheme, David Williams, will be able to provide advice on the importance of the find, its conservation and storage, and how it relates to the Treasure Act. If you’ve come across an archaeological find whilst out walking or using a metal detector, bring your find along for assessment and find out more about it. Pottery, flints and metalwork are all welcome, however, we do not provide information on fossils. Could that piece of metal provide a clue to Guildford’s past? Bring it along and find out.

Accessibility Guildford Borough Council welcomes deaf and disabled visitors to its heritage sites. The Council also aims to ensure best possible access to the collection and services. Where this is not possible (due to constraints of the historic buildings or environment) a reasonable alternative will be provided. Access to Guildford Borough Council’s sites is up or down steps and there are currently only stairs within the historic buildings. Please contact us in advance so we can assist you as much as possible to prepare for your visit or provide an alternative option. An induction loop is provided at reception and shop desks. Please contact us to request this brochure in large print or an alternative format. Tel: 01483 444751 Email: [email protected]
