Principals Report Oh what a difference a week makes in Wee Waa. One week we cannot pump enough water onto the school grounds quick enough to close the cracks and the next week ducks could be swimming on them The school new bore pump, underwater mains and travelling irrigator can take a rest as the district looks forward to a change in in fortune! As we move towards winter it’s time to look into the wardrobe to check on last years winter school uniform... Winter uniforms are available for the office at school. While the winter uniform is being arranged students should come to school in clothing as close as possible to the uniform. Tights are not acceptable at any time. Students also need appropriately covered footwear for school and this also is a requirement ion their practical classes. Years 11 and 12 should be in study mode as they prepare for their exams in the last week of school.

On the representative sporting field our students continue to excel with Teagan Conomos making the Regional Touch side to play in the state carnival. Other students going to represent the zone at the regional Winter Carnival on April 4th include, Sam Sadler, Tayla Gilmore, Izabela Gligorevic, Valerie Booby, Kyann Dickinson, Teagan Conomos, Allyssa Toomey, Lachlan Fogarty and Aleisha Middletom. We wish them all the best as they strive to make it to the next level. Neil Schneider Principal

Congratulations go to Tegan McKenzie, Erin Moore, Monique Morgan, and Samantha Carrett for their outstanding performances at the Senior Citizen’s Luncheon. They were brilliant and kept their audience thoroughly entertained. Also the support students and Miss Freer for making it happen. Teagan Conomos From Term 2 WWHS newsletter will only be available electronically. Please send your email address to [email protected]

A message from your P&C Association At the P&C Annual General Meeting held 13 March 2014, our new committee office bearers were elected. We welcome Jo Hogan as our Treasurer, Merrill Johnson as our Secretary, Alison Downes as our Vice President, Marianne Phelps as our President and Cindy O’Neill as the Year 12 Formal Committee Representative for 2014. To our past committee office bearers – thank you for your hard work & commitment. School App ~ For the Smartphone users, the Wee Waa High School has an app available. To add the app to your own phone go to your favourite app store and search for Wee Waa High School. The app provides links on the Home tab to phone or email the school – this allows student absences to be sent directly to the school – no more missing notes. Meetings with staff can also be arranged directly through the app. The Calendar tab lets you know what’s happening at the school, and the Newsletter tab keeps you up to date with the current and past news and photos. The app has been provided through the P&C for the benefit of all parents and caregivers and the continuation of the service will be dependent upon evaluation through its utilisation by the school community. It’s great to see the canteen being supported; the funds from all P&C activities go towards assisting our students. Let us know if you have any ideas for fundraising in 2014. If you do – we’d love to hear from you. Please come along to one of our General Meetings, or contact anyone on the P&C to share your idea. We also have a new Post Office box for any correspondence: PO Box 195, WEE WAA, NSW, 2388. Remember our philosophy is ‘the more, the merrier!’ Everyone is welcome to attend the P&C meetings. These are semi-formal to ensure the business side of things is completed. Come and join us on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 7.00 pm in the Library. Cheers & thanks Marianne Phelps

Ag roundup Week 8 The arrival of our new irrigator has coincided with some lovely rain this week. We are now certainly ready to get some crops in the ground for winter! The Yr 11/12 Primary Industries class has been busy cleaning out and setting up the planter, getting ready to sow our winter crops. Some oats seed and fertiliser has been ordered and the class will get onto sowing once we can get onto the fields again.

The ag farm held a stall at the Wee Waa Markets on Saturday. We had a very successful day selling pumpkins, watermelons and some strawberry plants the students potted up from our strawberry patch. The market was very well received and we raised $80 to go towards the continuation of our vegie patch and long term goal of buying some cattle for the students to get back into cattle showing. We will definitely be attending more markets in the future with our seasonal produce. A big thank you to Sarah Stanfield and Josh Arthur for all your enthusiasm and especially giving up your time on a Saturday to help!

A big thank you to Stephen Hatton for donating a large round bale of hay for our sheep! Yr 7/8 tech certainly had fun unloading it. It’s been great to be able to feed the sheep in the compound in this wet weather and has certainly helped ease the pressure while we establish some grazing crops for our livestock.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks on the Ag farm as we continue to clean up. A huge thank you to Schwager and Sons for donating their time and backhoe/truck this week. Schwager’s came in and removed the old compost/rubbish pile for us and what a difference its made! The students studying agriculture are really noticing the improvements on the farm and it’s wonderful to have the great support of the Wee Waa community, thank you!! Verity Gett.
