INTENT OF REQUEST FOR BID The intent of this request for bid is to solicit competitive bids from qualified contractors to furnish and install metal roofing and TPO roofing per documents. SUBMISSION LOCATION AND DATE Bids must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on May 19, 2016. Bids must be delivered to the San Juan School District Buildings & Grounds Department at 36 West 200 North, Blanding, Utah 84511. Bids must be clearly marked on the outside of the envelope “SEALED BID.” Emailed bids will be accepted and subject line must contain; SJH/BES. Email submissions to [email protected]. ACCEPTANCE OF BIDS San Juan School District reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. VENDOR SELECTION Vendor selection will be based on qualified lowest bidder.

NOTIFICATION OF VENDOR SELECTION Vendors will be notified of bid results. Bids will remain on file at the Buildings and Grounds Office for review by interested parties for seven days after award of contract. BID PREPARATION COSTS All costs incurred in the preparation and presentation of the bid shall be wholly absorbed by the vendor. All supporting documentation and manuals submitted with this bid will become the property of San Juan School District unless requested otherwise by the vendor at the time of submission. SITE VISIT There will be no mandatory bid walk. It is strongly encouraged that all bidders visit the site to familiarize themselves with the scope of work based on the bid documents. No exceptions will be given to vendors that do not familiarize themselves with the scope of work.

SJH SCOPE OF WORK Vendor is responsible to verify any given measurements and existing conditions prior to bid

SJH METAL ROOFING SPECIFICATION - Plans and photos for reference (Please take notice to redlines on photos for clarifications and directions) - #10 screws for fastening the hat channel to existing structure at 16”oc. length will be determined by vendor. The existing structure/roofing is 4”x4” tongue and grove wood beam. With approximately ½” of shingles and 1.5” of spray foam roofing. Do not penetrate the underside of the wood decking with screws.

Metallic-Coated Steel Sheet Prepainted with Coil Coating: Steel sheet metallic coated by the hot-dip process and prepainted by the coil-coating process to comply with ASTM A 755 (ASTM A 755M) and the following requirements: Galvanized Steel Sheet: ASTM A 653, G90 (ASTM A 653M, Z275); structural quality. Thickness: 0.028 inch 24 gauge unless otherwise indicated. Finish: Apply the following organic coating in thickness indicated. Furnish appropriate air-drying spray finish in matching color for touchup.

MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS

2.8 A.

General: Provide materials and accessories required for a complete roof panel assembly and as recommended by panel manufacturer, unless otherwise indicated.

Fasteners: Self-tapping screws, bolts, nuts, self-locking rivets and bolts, end-welded studs, and other suitable fasteners designed to withstand design loads.

Use stainless-steel fasteners for exterior applications. Where exposed fasteners are required, patterns must be evenly spaced, true to line into supporting framing members below. Provide metal-backed neoprene washers under heads of exposed fasteners bearing on weather side of panels. Locate and space exposed fasteners in true vertical and horizontal alignment. Use proper tools to obtain controlled uniform compression for positive seal without rupture of neoprene washer.

Accessories: Unless otherwise specified, provide components required for a complete roof panel assembly including metal end-wall closures, trim, copings, fasciae, mullions, sills, corner units, ridge closures, clips, seam covers, battens, flashings, gutters, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure strips, and similar items. Provide uniform colors for materials and finishes of panels as indicated.

Closure Strips: Steel enclosure such as z metal or other configurations as needed for an acceptable closure at any location, this includes manipulation of the roof or soffit panels. Provide metal closure strips where indicated or necessary to ensure weather tight construction. Sealing Tape: Pressure-sensitive, 100 percent solids, polyisobutylene compound sealing tape with release paper backing. Provide permanently elastic, nonsag, nontoxic, nonstaining tape.

Quality Assurance a. Contractor must be prepared, willing and accommodating to random on-site inspections of all work, at any time, by SJSD’s representative during job progress. Insurance/Liability/Safety/Security a.

The contractor must secure and maintain liability insurance (General and Auto) of an adequate amount, against claims for injuries to persons or damages to property which may arise from or in connection with the performance of the work hereunder. Insurance must be maintained for the duration of the project. Contractor must provide proof of insurance upon demand by SJSD (endorsement or policy) and agrees to, at all times, protect, indemnify, defend and hold harmless SJSD and SJSD employees from any and all claims.

b.

SJSD will assume no liabilities for the contractor including any of the contractor’s representatives, employees or properties.

c.

Contractor shall, at all times, keep the work area in a neat, clean, safe and secure condition to avoid the risk of loss, theft, vandalism or sabotage.

d.

Any damages occurring during the completion of this project, incidental or otherwise, to SJSD or adjacent properties must be repaired at the contractor’s expense and to the owner’s satisfaction. Notice to Proceed Notice to proceed will be in the form of a Purchase Order or Letter of Acceptance from SJSD Buildings and Grounds Department. Do not proceed without a Purchase Order or Letter of Acceptance.

Payment a. Payments will be made as work is completed, and after SJSD representative approves of the work. Five percent (5%) of the total project costs will be retained until project completion, clean-up, inspection, warranty and approval is made by district representative. Bonds a. Contractors providing services for San Juan School District for projects of $80,000 or more may be required to provide a performance and payment bond prior to the

commencement of the work at the sole discretion of San Juan School District. Claimant will be listed as San Juan School District Pre-Installation Conference a. Prior to scheduled commencement of the roofing installation and associated work, a meeting at the project site with the installer, SJSD’s representative, roofing manufacturer representative and any other persons directly involved with the performance of the work will be held. Purpose of meeting is to review foreseeable methods and procedures related to roofing work. Regulatory Requirements a. All work shall be performed in a safe, professional manner, conforming to all federal, state and local codes. Delivery, Storage, and Handling a. Follow manufacturer’s written guidelines. Warranty a. Project Warranty: Contractor to warranty metal roof system against leaks for one year from project completion. Schedule a. Date of completion: October 1, 2016 b. Completion means that structure is water tight and finished at which point, manufacturer will produce roofing system warranty.

Quality Assurance a.

Installer’s Qualifications: Installer must be certified by primary roofing manufacturer.

b. Manufacturer’s representative shall provide a comprehensive final inspection after completion of the roof system with SJSD representative. c. General: Provide installed roofing membrane and base flashings that remain watertight; do not permit the passage of water; and resist specified uplift pressures, thermally induced movement, and exposure to weather without failure. B. FMG Listing: Provide roofing membrane, base flashings, and component materials that comply with requirements in FMG 4450 and FMG 4470 as part of a membrane roofing system and that are listed in FMG’s “Approval Guide” for Class 1 or noncombustible construction, as applicable. Identify materials with FMG markings. C. Fire/Windstorm Classification: Class 1A-105 Warranty A. Special Warranty: Manufacturers form without monetary limitation (NDL) where manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of membrane roofing system that fail in materials or workmanship with specified warranty period. Failure includes roof leaks. 1. Warranty Period: 20 years from date of Substantial Completion. B. Special Project Warranty: Submit roofing Installer’s warranty, signed by Installer, covering Work of this Section, including all components of membrane roofing system such as roofing membrane, base flashing, roof insulation, fasteners, cover boards, substrate boards, vapor retarders, roof pavers, and walkway products, for the following warranty period: 1. Warranty Period: Two years from date of Substantial Completion. Roofing Membrane A. Fabric-Reinforced TPO Sheet: Uniform, flexible sheet reinforced internally and as follows: Manufacturers: Carlisle TPO (single source supplier to be an extension of existing new roof membrane) Thickness: 60 mils, nominal thickness Exposed Face Color: White

No walk ways or landing mats to be installed. Auxiliary Materials a. General: Auxiliary materials recommended by roofing system manufacturer for intended use and compatible with membrane roofing. b. Liquid-type auxiliary materials shall meet VOC limits of authorities having jurisdiction. c. Sheet Flashing: Manufacturer’s standard sheet flashing of same material, type, Reinforcement, thickness, and color as sheet membrane. 55 mils (1.4 mm) thick, minimum, of same color as sheet membrane. d. Bonding Adhesive: Manufacturer’s standard bonding adhesive for membrane, and solvent- based bonding adhesive for base flashings. e. Metal Termination Bars: Manufacturer’s standard predrilled stainless-steel or aluminum bars approximately 1 by 1/8 inch (25 by 3 mm) thick; with anchors. f. Metal Battens: Manufacturer’s standard aluminum-zinc-alloy-coated or zinc-coated steel sheet approximately 1 inch (25 mm) wide by 0.05 inch (1.3 mm) thick, pre-punched. g. Fasteners: Factory-coated steel fasteners and metal or plastic plates meeting corrosion- resistance provisions in FMG 4470, designed for fastening membrane to substrate, and acceptable to membrane roofing system manufacturer. h. Miscellaneous Accessories: Provide pourable sealers, preformed cone and vent sheet flashings, preformed inside and outside corner sheet flashings, T-joint covers, termination reglets, cover strips, and other accessories. Mechanically Fastened Roofing Membrane Installation a.

Installation of new membrane must follow manufacturers written instructions.

Flashing and Counter flashing c.

Remove all counter flashing and reinstall.

d. All existing termination bar must be removed prior to installation of new membrane and termination bar Roof Drains a.

Reuse existing roof drains.

Separation Layer a. Supply and install slip sheet or separation layer material approved by membrane manufacturer. Execution b. Securing necessary equipment, unloading and placement of materials to be coordinated by installer. c.

Deposit, removal and disposal of trash bins to be coordinated by installer.

d. 110 power may be utilized by vendor where present. Any other power needs to be provided by installers own generator. e.
