Rhonda Bilbrey and the staff at Bilbrey Tours proudly pay tribute to Lena Bilbrey, who passed away on August 15, 2016, after a courageous nine-month battle with cancer. Throughout her illness, Lena continued to follow tour itineraries, “LIKE” travel pictures on Facebook, talk with the tour escorts and plan new tour destinations. Bilbrey Tours, Inc. was founded in 1990 when Lena embarked on her first venture to San Francisco by escorting the trip for Retired and Senior Volunteer Program’s (RSVP) Leisure Time Travel Club. That same year Lena and her husband, Cleve, led a group of fifty-two travelers, consisting mostly of friends from church, on a cruise to the Bahamas. Lena knew this venture perfectly combined her love of people with her love of travel. Over the next twenty-six years she led tours to all fifty states, fifty-one countries and four continents. In 1998 Lena became one of the few female motorcoach owners in the industry. Tens of thousands of “travelers” joined her on great adventures both near and far to see God’s amazing world. While they began as travelers, most quickly became friends and ultimately members of her extended family. Showing people the beauty of God’s creations was one of Lena’s greatest joys. Be assured that Rhonda and all of the staff at Bilbrey Tours are committed to furthering Lena’s dream, as we continue to lead tours throughout the world. Even during her final months, Lena crafted tour ideas that she shared with the staff, and we are busy putting those ideas into itineraries. Bilbrey Tours, Inc. was Lena’s travel dream come true; making YOUR travel dreams come true remains our focus and our mission as we carry on her legacy.
