In the book of Deuteronomy (4:7), Moses asks the rhetorical question: “what great nation is there that has gods so close to it as the Lord, our God, is to us?” He was speaking of the proximity of God in the Law which He had given to His people. We might make Moses’ question our own today as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi).

The Lord is truly present in our celebration of the Eucharistic liturgy, and He is present in the Most Blessed Sacrament reserved in our tabernacle.

Suffering is not a popular notion in our society and we strive to avoid it. But now we hear Christ instructing us to “suffer with” the poor, the vulnerable, the powerless, the neglected, the weak.

Thank you for celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the founding of Good Shepherd! We are especially grateful to Bishop Loverde, Father Tom, Father Luis, Father Zacarías, former assigned clergy and other diocesan priests and deacons who celebrated Mass with us Saturday evening. A special thank you to Dale O’Neil, Carolyn Scott, Terri Hood and Reyna Rodas for coordinating the Founders Luncheon, Saturday Evening Mass reception and Sunday reception. Thank you to all the many other volunteers, including our youth, who assisted throughout the weekend. Thank you to Lois Gay for coordinating the decorations, and Phil Bolin for volunteer recruitment. The Knights of Columbus provided food for the all-day Sunday celebrations. Pancakes, hamburgers and hotdogs were enjoyed by over 2,000 parishioners throughout the day! Copies of our Commemorative bulletin are available on our website gs-cc.org (search: bulletins); as is a slideshow of our Jubilee Prayer.
