Corpus Christi Procession Sunday, June 10th, is the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). As is the tradition in our parish, there will be a procession honoring the Blessed Sacrament immediately following the 1:30p.m. Mass. The outdoor procession will begin at the front doors of the church and proceed to each of four altars that will be set up on the parish grounds. This weekend, members of our Polish Club will be outside our church collecting money that will be used to offset some of the expenses related to this procession, e.g., flowers and orchestra..

Some of our raffle prizes include: • A weekend for 2 at Cliffside Resort in Wisconsin Dells • A 16GB Samsung Galaxy Tablet • Cash Prizes of $200, $100, $50 and many more prizes!

Everyone is invited to participate in the Corpus Christi procession. Children and adults are invited to wear traditional (folk) clothing. .

THE MYSTERY OF THE BLESSED TRINITY

Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Church sets aside this Sunday to focus our attention on the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, God who is one, but three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading from Deuteronomy emphasizes both God’s awesome greatness and amazing nearness. It might seem beyond belief, but the God of all creation speaks to us, protects us, and guides us. The second reading from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans describes how we are to relate to the three persons who are one God. We are led by the Spirit to meet God the Father as adopted children. Our adoption is such that we are even heirs with our brother, Christ, the second person of the Trinity, in whose sufferings we must also share. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus speaks with his authority as God and sends us to teach and baptize in the name of the Trinity. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

THREE IN ONE The number three has great significance in the Bible. In the Old Testament, God is the One who was, who is, and who is to come. The Temple in Jerusalem was built in three parts. Work undertaken for God was to be completed on the third day (Exodus 19:11). The first of the patriarchs, Abraham, recognized God’s presence in the visit of three men to his camp at Mamre (Genesis 18). Likewise, in the New Testament, the Gospel describe the saving work of Jesus Christ as fulfilled by his resurrection on the third day after the Crucifixion, and Saint Paul refers to the three gifts of the Spirit (1 Corinthians 13:13). Although Jesus does command his followers to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19), the term “Trinity” is never used in the scriptures. The Church as never believed that all truth is confined solely to the scriptures; it can also be revealed as the worshiping Church ponders the experience of God at work in the lives of believers. It took three hundred years of such pondering before the Church finally declared the doctrine of the Trinity: the unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three persons in one divine Being. For us today, it is important to understand the “person” did not mean independent being. In traditional understanding, a person was always understood, on some level, as being in relationship to others. So the three persons of the Trinity are always understood as three in one: distinct, but one in being. As human beings made in the likeness of our creator we cannot “go it alone” without dire consequences. June, 2012 Dear Friends in Christ, On the weekend of June 9–10, 2012, we will take up a special collection for the Retired Priests of the Archdiocese. When priests retire from pastoral responsibilities, they remain ordained priests, configured through the Sacrament of Holy Orders to Christ, the head of his Body, the Church. Priests are not employees; they are fathers in Christ and brothers to all. The retired priests celebrate Mass and sacraments in hundreds of parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Chicago. Their dedicated service enables many parishes to avoid reducing the number of Masses celebrated each weekend. Some retired priests are called upon to be temporary administrators of parishes. Our senior priests do this willingly as a continuation of the many years that they have faithfully served our Church. Please join me in offering our retired priests words of appreciation and gratitude for their many years of priestly ministry. The Priests’ Retirement and Mutual Aid Association (PRMAA) cares for our retired priests. Again this year, we have seen the cost of health care, prescription drugs, and nursing-home care increase. In addition, the priests’ pension fund remains seriously impacted by the economic downturn. This special collection will help us continue to support our retired priests. You may be aware that the December collection for retired men and women Religious is designated to provide only for those in Religious Orders. Archdiocesan priests do not receive any funds from this collection. I would like to personally thank all of our retired priests for their lives and their exemplary ministry. We are blessed to have more than one hundred retired priests ministering in our parishes. May their spirit of sharing continue to enliven our Church! I am thankful to all of you for your most gracious generosity in this collection last year. I ask you to repeat your kindness this year. Your donations, your prayers and your good wishes are a great affirmation of our retired priests. Please pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood. W weekend 9–10 czerwca 2012 r. w naszych kościołach będzie miała miejsce specjalna kolekta na rzecz Emerytowanych Księży Naszej Archidiecezji. Gdy księża ze względu na wiek przechodzą na emeryturę i zostają zwolnieni z dotychczasowych obowiązków w parafii, wciąż pozostają księżmi, którymi stali się przyjmując sakrament kapłaństwa Chrystusa - głowy Kościoła. Księża nie są zatrudnionymi przez Kościół pracownikami; księża to ojcowie w Chrystusie i bracia nas wszystkich. Emerytowani księża pomagają odprawiając Msze święte i sprawując sakramenty w kilkuset parafiach na terenie archidiecezji Chicago. Gdyby nie ich ofiarna posługa wiele parafii musiałoby zredukować ilość Mszy św. odprawianych w każdy weekend. Niektórym emerytowanym księżom proponuje się sprawowanie przez jakiś czas funkcji administratora danej parafii. Nasi starsi księża z oddaniem podejmują tę pracę traktując ją, jako kontynuację swojej wieloletniej posługi Kościołowi. Proszę, ofiarujcie im wraz ze mną wyrazy wdzięczności i uznania za wiele lat ich kapłańskiego oddania. Fundusz Emerytalny i Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń Wzajemnych dla Księży (Mutual Aid Association - PRMAA) zabezpiecza potrzeby emerytowanych księży. W tym roku znowu wzrosły koszty opieki zdrowotnej, leków na receptę oraz pobytu w domach opieki zdrowotnej. Ponadto, fundusz emerytalny księży boleśnie odczuwa skutki trwającego kryzysu gospodarczego. Dzięki tej specjalnej kolekcie będziemy w stanie nadal wspierać finansowo naszych emerytowanych księży. Być może jesteście świadomi, a być może nie, że grudniowa kolekta na rzecz osób konsekrowanych przeznaczona jest tylko dla emerytowanych sióstr i braci zakonnych. Emerytowani księża diecezjalni nie korzystają z funduszy uzyskanych z tej kolekty. Pragnę osobiście podziękować wszystkim naszym emerytowanym księżom za ich pełne poświęcenia życie i wzorową służbę. Pan Bóg pobłogosławił nas obecnością ponad stu emerytowanych księży służących w naszych parafiach. Niech ich służebna postawa ciągle ożywia nasz Kościół. Jestem wdzięczny Wam wszystkim za waszą wielką szczodrość na rzecz tej kolekty w zeszłym roku. Proszę żebyście i w tym roku wykazali się podobną postawą. Wasze ofiary, wasze modlitwy i wasze dobre słowa są bardzo ważne i potrzebne naszym emerytowanym księżom. Proszę Was o modlitwy o wzrost powołań kapłańskich. 3 czerwca - Uroczystość Trójcy Przenajświętszej Wiara w jednego Boga w trzech Osobach jest jednym z najbardziej specyficznych elementów chrześcijaństwa. Żadnainna religia tej tajemnicy nie podaje do wierzenia. Istnienie Trójcy Świętej jest dogmatem naszej wiary. Samym ludzkim rozumem nie doszlibyśmy do tej prawdy. Objawił nam to Jezus Chrystus. Prawda o tajemnicy Trójcy Przenajświętszej jest dla nas o tyle istotna, że przedstawia Pana Boga, jakim jest sam w sobie. Pan Bóg jest jeden w swojej naturze, ale w trzech osobach. Osoby Boskie różnią się między sobą rzeczywiście tak, że jedna osoba nie jest osobą drugą. Nie różnią się jednak naturą ani też przymiotami, ani też działaniem, które jest wspólne. Mają wspólną naturę Bożą, wszystkie przymioty i działania Boże. Osoby różnią się między sobą jedynie pochodzeniem: Bóg Ojciec nie pochodzi od nikogo, Syn Boży pochodzi przez odwieczne i duchowe zrodzenie od Ojca, Duch Święty pochodzi przez wspólne tchnienie miłości Ojca i Syna. Pierwszą osobę wyróżnia ojcostwo, drugą osobę - synostwo, a trzecią - pochodzenie od Ojca i Syna. Tyle zdołała określić teologia katolicka na podstawie tekstów Pisma świętego i pism Ojców Kościoła.

Procesja Bożego Ciała W niedzielę 10 czerwca, zaraz po mszy św. o godz. 1:30 pm, zapraszamy wszystkich na procesję ku czci Ciała i Krwi Chrystusa.
