PROFILE Canadian designer Abboud Malak, founder of STUDIO M, has built a reputation for creating environments that reflect today’s Gulf region…innovative, modern and aesthetically luxurious. His success has come from his ability to recast the regional vernacular in a modern framework coupled with his unique notion of elegance. Abboud received a Bachelor of Arts from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and then went on to study at the Art Center College of Design (ACCD) in Pasadena, California, specializing in Interior Architecture. In 1998, Abboud partnered with Kelly Schandel, and with a shared passion for purity of design, founded Studio Ethos in Los Angeles, California. The duo collaborated on numerous projects, including the awardwinning bridal boutique, Monique Lhuillier in Beverly Hills. In 2006, he formed STUDIO M, a high-end interior Design practice based at the Dubai International Financial Center, and a continuation of his passion for the ideals of light, space and simplicity.

Our ethos is a commitment to design excellence and timeless appeal. Our aim is always to reinterpret the local vernacular in a contemporary manner without ever resorting to the obvious or succumbing to clichés We create architecture that is seductively simple yet luxuriously detailed. A balance between beautiful form maximally serving function. Though we are consistent in our design philosophy, we don’t have a recurring formula to our work. Each project provokes a new set of ideas, investigations and solutions tailored to our clients needs and desires.

SERVICES STUDIO M is a Tier 1 Interior Design firm, operating in the high-end sector of the commercial and residential market. The studio specializes in the interior design and architecture, space planning and project management of mediumsize projects. These can be corporate offices, retail outlets and residential spaces. The Studio’s involvement starts at the inception of a project and with the designer maintaining direct involvement throughout the project’s duration. STUDIO M offers a tailor made service that caters to the specific needs of the client. This can also include a “onestop” service. The team will work closely together with the General Contractor and other consultants within the building environment in developing the overall design and construction of the property. This comprehensive design package includes suggestions for specialist lighting, landscaping, audio-visual equipment, etc. This service can extend to organizing Staff relocation, flower décor and all other aspects of the Interior. Should clients choose to- they can move into a totally well organized and fully functional environment. Every attention is paid to detail ensuring that the client has complete trust and satisfaction during and after completion.
