PAINT & PEEL For your convenience, some pre-glazed doors have Paint ‘N’ Peel film designed to make painting your door a quick and easy procedure. Paint ‘n’ Peel is a film that is applied to the glass panels, so the door can be painted without worry of getting paint on the glass. Paint the door as normal and the film over the glass protects against streaks, runs or splashes. When the finish is complete, simply use a craft knife to trim the film along the edge of the glass. Peel off the film from the glass surface to reveal a clean, No Mess, No Fuss finish.

The vufold door is a unique folding, sliding door system that provides a combination of quality, design, technology and affordability and has taken the market by storm. the doors are based on our highly successful and extremely popular external, sliding, folding door sets.

A unique combination of benefits

A combination of functionality, design and versatility lead our customers to declare VuFold simply the best option in improving the utilisation of internal space. The Slimline models incorporate 610mm wide doors (2’ wide) and the Widefit models have 743mm or 686mm wide doors (approx 2’ 5” or 2’ 3”). The 35mm thick doors are solidly made with a genuine oak veneer on a solid wood engineered core for greater stability. Choose from two door styles - 1 lite and 4 lite options and two sizes of door.

Our internal doors are the first in Ireland with completely premachined frames and doors for easy assembly.

Each set includes doors, frame, cill, tracks and easy-to-follow fitting and assembly instructions. We also include high quality aluminium sliding, folding hardware, slide bolts and draught-proof seals. The only things we don’t include are handles or architrave, as you’ll most likely want to match the ones you already have elsewhere at home.

VuFold sliding, folding door sets are designed to keep the weather out and your heat in. Each set has 24mm double glazed sealed units, using thermally efficient Low E glass and toughened safety glass tested in accordance with British Standards, BSEN 12150 IC2 and BSEN 12600. They’re weather tested to BS6375 Part 1 and include double weather seals to keep draughts out. Extra thick 54mm doors give greater stability and additional insulation too. All sets are document L compliant which means that they’re tested to ensure thermal efficiency and lower carbon emissions from the home, achieving a test rating of 1.9 W/m2K. Naturally, we only use timber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council®.

CARING FOR YOUR DOORS

To ensure that your doors look and perform to the highest standards, please follow these care and installation guidelines

WHEN YOU RECEIVE YOU DOORS You should check each door thoroughly to ensure they are in perfect condition and have not been damaged during transit or storage and report any problems immediately. Always use 2 people when lifting doors and lift by the edges and not by the glazing bars or panels. Allow your doors at least 7 days to acclimatise to the room where they will be fitted. Store them at normal room temperature, (about 20 degrees) lying FLAT on 3 battens to allow the

PAINT ’N’ PEEL FOR EASY FINISHING For your convenience, some pre-glazed doors have Paint ‘N’ Peel film designed to make sealing, staining or painting your door a quick and easy procedure. Paint ‘n’ Peel is a film that is applied to the glass panels, so that the door can be painted or stained without the worry of painting on the glass. Paint or stain the door as normal and the film over the glass protects against streaks, runs or splashes. When the finish is complete, simply use a craft knife to trim the film along the edge of the glass. Peel off the film from the glass surface to reveal a clean, No Mess, No Fuss finish.

INSTALLING YOUR DOOR

TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY

Before you start, inspect your doors thoroughly on all sides. Any roughness or slight gaps on unfinished

All timber naturally expands when it absorbs moisture, and contracts when it dries. It is vitally important that your doors are protected from extremes of heat and humidity. Never fit or store doors in a newly plastered room or building. Please allow at least three months to ensure the rooms have been heated and dried thoroughly. We recommend that rooms are maintained between 18 – 20 degrees Celsius and between 40% - 60% humidity. Extremes of heat, dryness or humidity can cause cracking or warping. If under-floor heating is installed, it is recommended that it is not kept at a high setting for prolonged periods and at least 3 coats of sealer are applied on the bottom edge of each door.

UNFINISHED DOORS - SEAL BEFORE HANGING You must not hang un-finished doors without fully sealing all surfaces, edges & cut-outs. It is very important that end grain on the top and bottom edges of the door is fully sealed as this is where moisture can most easily enter the door. Failure to properly seal the door can result in swelling, twisting, bowing, de-lamination or cracking. These problems may occur immediately or over a prolonged period depending on the conditions. We recommend that 2 coats of solvent based sealer are used. In areas such as bathrooms, kitchens and hot presses, where variations in humidity are likely, we recommend an extra coat of sealer. Water based finishes are NOT suitable for sealing wooden doors and base coat stains or primers are not considered to be an adequate sealant.

PRIMED/PRE-FINISHED DOORS – RESEAL AFTER ALTERING Primed or Pre-Finished doors are already fully sealed. It is important however, to re-seal all exposed surfaces after trimming or cutting out for locks and hinges. Handle pre-finished doors with extreme care to ensure the surface is not damaged in any way. Doors should not be laid on their side or edge without protecting the surface with cardboard.

ALL PRE-GLAZED DOORS FITTED WITH SAFETY GLASS For your safety, all our pre-glazed doors use toughened or laminated glass. Take care to avoid any impact to glass when hanging or fitting the hardware. For a superior finish, some of our Pre-Glazed doors may be glazed using the Cassette Glazing System and cannot be replaced. Glass should be checked thoroughly in daylight before hanging and any defects reported immediately.

If you need to trim the door, reduce equally on both sides by no more than 5mm. The top and bottom of the door should not be reduced by more than 10mm to maintain the proportions and stability of the door. Do not fit locks where the stile meets the mid-rail, as this could weaken the door Joints. Keep the lock cavity to a minimum. Locks etc. must be installed before hanging the door and always use 3 hinges. Care should be taken to ensure hinges are fitted in perfect alignment. If you need to rebate your doors, you should check the individual door specifications before rebating as not all doors are suitable for rebating. Rebate strips are available to suit most doors

When the sealed door is hung, it should be finished immediately with a good, oil based paint or varnish treatment. Always follow the manufacturers’ instructions for the paint stain or varnish to be used. All surfaces of the door must be treated at the same time to prevent moisture imbalance, do not finish one side

CARE AND MAINTENANCE Regular care and maintenance will enhance the appearance and pro-long the life of your doors. Annual inspection and touch ups will prevent any breakdown of the finish and also protects the timber from deterioration. Panels are floating and can expand or contract to allow for variations in temperature. This can occasionally expose paint lines along the edges. This is not a fault and can easily be sanded and refinished. Regularly clean glass with warm, soapy water. Avoid using abrasives or excessive scrubbing as this may cause scratches or remove designs.

In the event that there is any defect in the product arising from manufacture or materials, we will immediately replace or refund the door, however no liability can be accepted for any other consequential costs such as painting, storage or installation.
