Homes for the Holidays 2016 Home Tour Sponsorship Package

Dear sponsor,

Thank you for taking the opportunity to review this sponsorship proposal, and for considering the Junior League of Edmonton as one of your valued community partners. The Junior League of Edmonton is a unique non-profit women’s organization dedicated to promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. 2016 is sure to be an exciting year for the Junior League of Edmonton, our membership and the organizations we assist within Edmonton and area, as we host our 11th annual Homes for the Holidays. Funds raised through this festive event will help the Junior League of Edmonton continue our 85-year legacy of training women to be effective volunteers. We do this by developing and delivering projects in direct response to recognized needs within the community, which relate to our mandate of serving children, youth and families at risk. Through training our members to be community leaders, we have been able to successfully complete many projects such as the restoration of the Calgary and Edmonton (C&E) Railway Station Museum and teaching kids about the benefits of fitness and nutrition through our annual Kids in the Kitchen program. We invite you to join us on the next page to learn a little bit more about the Junior League and some of our accomplishments. Again thank you for your consideration and we hope you’ll join us at our Homes for the Holidays home tour.

Association of Junior Leagues International The Junior League of Edmonton us part of the Junior League movement that began in New York City in 1901, when a group of young women organized to work in settlement houses on the Lower East Side to improve child health, nutrition and literacy. Today, there are 294 Leagues with a combined membership of more than 171,000 women serving communities in Canada, Great Britain, Mexico and the United States. The Junior League of Edmonton began as the Junior Hospital League in 1928 and joined the Association of Junior Leagues International and the Canadian Federation of Junior Leagues in 1969. For more than 85 years, the Junior League of Edmonton has provided women the opportunity to become effective community volunteers. Through our numerous Community Projects we have left a lasting legacy in our community.

A Few of Our Accomplishments ●

To date, the Junior League of Edmonton has raised more than one million dollars for more than 50 community projects and grants, turning the projects over to the community or government agencies after they have proven viability in the community.

During our 2014-2015 year, our members logged more than 4300 volunteer hours by attending board meetings, general meetings and community meetings, working at fundraisers and volunteer events, along with the planning efforts that go into our programs.

Annually, our fall new member class collects 50,000 diapers in 50 days in support of the Bissell Centre. This ongoing commitment allows the Bissell Center to provide 50 Edmonton familie is with a supply of diapers that will last one year.

About the Event Each year Homes for the Holidays brings together local designers and decorators, community volunteers and retailers to decorate beautiful homes graciously loaned to us by local homeowners. The decorated homes are opened to the public with the purchase of a ticket, giving tour participants a dose of some glamorous holiday inspiration, and the opportunity to bring ideas to life in their own homes. Not only does the event spark the magic of the holiday spirit for the thousands of excited participants; it carries that spirit on throughout the year as all funds raised go toward supporting valuable programs and services for the Edmonton and area community. Homes for the Holidays is the Junior League of Edmonton’s biggest fundraiser of the year. In past years, funds raised from Homes for the Holidays have supported a variety of projects including: WINGS of Providence, Kids Help Phone, the Paired Reading Program at the Belmead School, Kids in the Kitchen, Basically Babies, Youth Emergency Shelter, WIN House, and Santa’s Anonymous.
