In addition to serving as retreat director, Dr. Fox delivered presentations, provided guided theological reflection, and facilitated discussion to deepen understanding and appreciation of the call to ministry.

Gadenz, S.S.L., S.T.D., Associate Professor of Biblical Studies, was interviewed by Fox News Chief Religion Correspondent Lauren Green for the National Fox News Channel’s Christmas special, “The Nativity: Facts, Fictions & Faith.” In addition to interviewing Father Gadenz at Seton Hall, Green traveled to Jerusalem and Bethlehem in pursuit of the story, visiting the manger where Jesus was born. Kupke, Ph.D., Adjunct Professor of Church History, was a guest on Thank God For Monday, the WSOU (Seton Hall Pirate Radio - 89.5 FM) weekly talk show about the workplace, hosted by Brother Gregory Cellini, O.S.F., ’85. In celebration of the Feast Day of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Monsignor Kupke discussed Mother Seton’s life, how her spirit and courage have influenced Seton Hall from its founding in 1856 until the present, and lessons that people can take from Mother Seton to their workplaces as they return to work in 2014. This 30-minute show aired live, starting at 8:30 a.m., on Saturday, January 4, 2014.  Jeffrey L. Morrow, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Undergraduate Theology: o Served as the moderator and introduced the main speaker, Professor John Coverdale, for the New Jersey premiere of the film Everyday Holiness: The Life of Father Joseph Muzquiz, sponsored by the Chaplaincy of the Law School of Seton Hall University, and held at Seton Hall University, South Orange, NJ, on January 19, 2014. o Participated in a radio interview on the topic of his conversion from Judaism to Catholicism, for the Salvation is from the Jews radio show on Radio Maria, on February 8, 2014.  Julie V. Burkey, M.A.P.M. ’04, D.Min., Coordinator, Center for Workplace Spirituality, Institute for Christian Spirituality, and Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology, presented “Praying with Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.” Lecture, at the Caritas Christi Center at Mt. Sacred Heart, Hamden, CT, on March 8, 2014.

 Joseph P. Rice, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Philosophical Theology, presented “Pope Francis.” Lecture, for the Lenten series What Does a Follower of Jesus Look Like?, at Immaculate Conception Parish, Montclair, NJ, on March 9, 2014.

II.

Special Events  The Seminary community celebrated the dedication of the altar in the newly-renovated Chapel of the Good Shepherd on November 1, 2013.  Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology sponsored “Voices from the Year of Faith: South America and the New Evangelization.” Lecture, by Dermot A. Quinn, D.Phil. (Oxon.), Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of History at Seton Hall University, in the Seminary’s Chapel of the Good Shepherd, on November 18, 2013. This presentation marked the final month of the Year of Faith, and was one of the first lectures in the Seminary’s newly-renovated chapel.  The Catholic Center for Family Spirituality at Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology is sponsoring the retreat series 70 X 7: Faith, Family, & Forgiveness, at Notre Dame of Mount Carmel Parish, Cedar Knolls, NJ. Presentations not already reported have included: o Lessons of Mercy, Prayer, and Forgiveness from St. Monica and St. Augustine. By Reverend Douglas J. Chapel, S.T.D., Assistant Spiritual Director for the Seminary; Associate Professor of Moral Theology; Co-Director, Institute for Christian Spirituality; and Director, Center for Diaconal Formation, on February 22, 2014.

III.

Mission and Service  Reverend John J. Chadwick, S.T.D., Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology: o Served as Spiritual Director for the Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat, designed to provide healing and forgiveness for post-abortive women and men, and held at St. John the Apostle Parish, Linden, NJ, from September 13-15, 2013. o Presented the following: 

“The RCIA and the Confirmation of Adult Baptized Catholics.” Talk, at the annual meeting of parish RCIA coordinators, held at the Archdiocesan Center, Newark NJ, on October 21, 2013. As part of his role as Director of the RCIA for the Archdiocese of Newark, Father Chadwick presented on this topic with Reverend Thomas Dente, M.A., Director of the Office of Divine Worship.



“Evangelization and Conversion in the RCIA.” Three-hour workshop offered to assist in seeing the role of evangelization and conversion in the RCIA on the parish level, highlighting the call for all disciples to be evangelizers, and held at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, Cedar Grove, NJ, on January 26, 2014.



An hour-long presentation on the Eucharist, designed to assist the parents of those receiving the Eucharist for the first time this Easter Season. This presentation highlighted the nature of the Eucharist and the responsibility to

raise the children in the faith, and was held at Immaculate Conception Parish, Montclair, NJ, on February 2, 2014. o As Director of the RCIA for the Archdiocese of Newark, organized and hosted a day-long workshop featuring speaker the Reverend Paul Turner, a nationally-known expert on the subject, who demonstrated the Rites of the RCIA process. This workshop was held at St. Peter the Apostle Parish, River Edge, NJ, on February 27, 2014.  Justin M. Anderson, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Moral Theology, presented the following lectures to the contemplative branch of the Missionaries of Charity, Plainfield, NJ: o “The Light of Faith.” On October 3, 2013. o “The Virtue of Prudence.” On February 11, 2014.  Zeni V. Fox, Ph.D., Professor of Pastoral Theology: o Presented “On the Road to Emmaus.” Lecture, at Villanova Conference Center, Radnor, PA, at a session held from October 29-30, 2013. This lecture was for The Academy, a ministry leadership program, planned and presented by Catholic Health East and Seton Hall University Catholic Studies, for chief executives of the healthcare system. The session was one of six sessions for this cohort. As part of this service, Dr. Fox also attended several meetings, held in Trenton, NJ, to plan the program. o As chair of the Governance Committee and member of the Executive Committee for National Catholic Reporter, attended the semi-annual meeting, held in Kansas City, KS, from November 15-16, 2013. o Has continued service as a Board member for the Center for Ministry Development. As part of the service, Dr. Fox attended a meeting in Gig Harbor, WA, from

October 21-22, 2013, and participates in monthly conference calls related to Board business. o Wrote a summary of responses to a section of the “Synod on the Family” survey from the Vatican, for the Archdiocese of Newark, during December 2013.  Jeffrey L.
