Presidents Message August 2011 Hey how about that night fly. What a great turnout, we had a total of ninety members, friends and family join us for a fantastic dinner and some outstanding flying. Just take a look at the photos below, it looks to me that everyone is having a good time. We just might have to change RAY CRASH JONES name back to just Ray. His plane looked fantastic and Ray managed to keep it in one piece this year. Koodo's Ray. July was a sad month with the passing of our friend and flying buddy Carl Hammond. He will surely be missed by all who knew him. Coming up this month we have the DESERT WINGS R/C CLUB'S annual five star fun fly. If you have not taken the opportunity to attend this event, I would highly recommend it. This event will be held on Saturday Aug. 13th. From 9am until 1pm. Their model port is locate across from the Price Fair grounds. Also coming this month is the Egg Drop Fun Fly. This will be held at the club field starting at 10am. On Saturday August 27th. “IF IT DOES NOT RAIN” This months club meeting will be on August 11th , 7pm at the Heritage Center in Murray. Scott Davis will be doing our segment on MY Favorite Plane. A little bird told me that he will be talking about the Grumman F3F1. You won't want to miss this one. There is nothing new to report on the new model port. Everything is still on hold pending the appeals filed by the environmentalists. I do not expect to see any progress until next year.

SAFETY CORNER What a great turnout for the Night Fly!! Hope everyone had fun. I actually got my kids and grandkids to come out and they had allot of fun! Thanks club members for coming and bringing food. Was a little windy at first but eventually calmed down enough to fly. Even flew the Apprentice a few times. The only safety item I have is we should be flying behind the safety fence. I really don't mind if people go out to tweak their plane before a flight, but after please fly from behind the fence. The fence is there for your protection so please use it. Just a reminder, please label your airplane with your address or your AMA number or both. Remember "Prop like fingers" Be safe and have fun!!!
