TRADITIONAL DAY CAMP With themes like "Power of the Force" and "Super Heroes", every camp week is fun-filled and action packed with activities such as swim lessons, canoeing, archery, environmental education, theater, arts & crafts, dance and sports. Day camps offered for children entering grades 1 through 6. See pages 6-7. SPORTS CAMPS Y sports camps focus on skill development through a combination of dynamic drills and game play. Join us for a summer of swimming, crafts, games, nature exploration and swim lessons taught by YMCA aquatic instructors. WIZARDS, WITCHES AND MAGICAL BEASTS Weeks 8 & 9: August 8-19 Return to the magical world of Harry Potter and go beyond the world of Hogwarts to embark on adventures with Newt Scamander. This magizoologist needs help searching for magical beasts will train camp to join his exploration team.

TEEN CAMPS Teen Camp options for those entering 7th grade and older teach independence while providing a fun-filled summer with friends.

TEEN ADVENTURE

LIT (LEADER IN TRAINING)

AGES 15 TO 17 (entering grades 10-12) 2 WEEK/FULL-DAY (May enroll multiple times) Weeks 2 & 3: June 27-July 8 This camp is designed to help teens transition to young adulthood through the acquisition of new skills. Throughout the two-week program, experienced staff mentor and facilitate hands-on activities, such as a service learning project. Furthermore, exposure to real life situations helps with group dynamics and problem solving skills. Over these two weeks, campers go on a fun field trip and participate in typical camp activities such as canoeing and sports. The LIT program is a pre-requisite for the CIT (Counselor in Training) program. By the end of the two weeks, each camper will develop skills through the following activities: • A team building phase teaches communication skills between peers. • A service project for Camp UMLY promotes organization and social responsibility. • LITs shadow our counselors and lead select camp activities themselves with the guidance of staff.

CIT (COUNSELOR IN TRAINING) AGES 16 & UP (entering grades 11-12) Prior completion of LIT program and application required. 2 WEEK/FULL-DAY (May enroll multiple times) Weeks 4 & 5: July 11-22 This camp is meant to be a stepping stone to becoming a camp counselor. Campers take the skills acquired during the LIT program and apply them to hands-on counselor experience. Throughout the two week program, experienced staff oversee campers leading group activities, actively involving themselves in special events, leading community outreach efforts, and creating their own service learning project. Furthermore, CITs become CPR certified, familiarize themselves with college application and essay writing, and continue to develop interviewing skills including resume building. Over the two weeks, campers go on a fun field trip and shadow a pathfinder field trip to develop management skills. Applicants must schedule a brief interview. This program is highly selective; applicants not chosen are offered a place in LIT to work towards future CIT admission.

1 Week/Full Day Week 2: June 27 to July 1 Using recycled and repurposed cans, buckets, kitchen items, and anything else that works, this ensemble revolutionizes the way you interpret music. Campers will learn hand and stick drumming techniques and explore various rhythmic patterns. No experience necessary! 1 Week/Full Day Week 8: August 8-12 In this ensemble, recycled and repurposed materials are altered into musical instruments that create a one-of-a-kind sound. 1 Week/Full Day Week 7: August 1-5 In this ensemble, kids use African drum and other percussion, learning hand and stick drum techniques and rhythm patterns originating from African tradition. ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CAMPS For almost 20 years, our Environmental Education Complex has provided a variety of hands-on experiences for children and teens based around natural history, sciences and arts, sustainable agriculture, birding, and more. Our staff of professional naturalists, teachers, and certified instructors are dedicated to connecting the community to nature and instilling an appreciation and understanding of our natural world. NATURE SAFARI Ages 4 to 6 years 1 WEEK/HALF DAY AM (9:00 am - noon) or PM (1:00-4:15 pm) Children experience nature first-hand through shaded woodland and wetland walks, nature craft projects, games, stories, and an up-close look at the Environmental Education Center's animals. WEEKLY THEMES Week 1: June 20-24 (AM) FEATHERED FRIENDS Explore the Y to discover all the birds that live in our meadows, woodlands, and wetlands. Check out some of the winged residents visiting our bird feeders, and meet our local feathered friends on the farm. Week 2: June 27-31 (PM) WATER WONDERS Splash in the creek. Catch a fish or tadpole. Walk through the wetland. Come with us on a safari in search of some of the critters that inhabit the YMCA's pond, creek, and wetlands. In addition, children will spend time in the nature center learning about its turtles. Week3:July5-8(AM) BUGS,SLUGSANDOTHERUGHS Peer under rotting logs, lift rocks in the creek, and dig in the dirt to find some of the YMCA’s creepy, slithery, and slimy critters. Learn that these animals are nothing to fear. Week 4: July 11-15 (PM) DOWN ON THE FARM Explore the YMCA's very own barn! Meet the animals that live here, while learning about farm animals and the products they provide.

Find out as we explore the woods and wetlands for peeks of our furry friends and the signs they leave behind. We’ll also meet some of the mammals that live in and around our nature center. Week 6: July 25-29 (PM) SCALES & TAILS Are reptiles truly slimy? Do turtles shed their shells? Do bearded dragons really breathe fire? Come find out as we get up close and personal with some of the reptiles and amphibians that make the YMCA woodlands and wetlands their home. This is the YMCA’s all day nature camp, where campers participate in nature games, arts and crafts, stories, and daily hikes through our woods and wetlands. June 27 BIRDING BASICS (AM, PM or Full Day) Join us as we explore the Cassatt Preserve from woods to wetland to meadow in search of the birds that call the Y their home. We will find out what makes birds unique and take a close-up look at the winged wonders who visit our bird feeders as well as our resident feathered friends in the nature center. July 5 OUTDOOR SURVIVAL SKILLS (AM or PM) How did people survive in the wilderness before houses and electricity? In this camp, we’ll discover how to track animals, catch fish, and gather food using Native American techniques. We’ll also discuss the most important gear to bring with you on a wilderness adventure. July 11 WILDLIFE SKETCHING (AM, PM or Full Day) Before there were cameras and computers, people captured information about wildlife with sketches and journals. Join us as we explore the Y in search of plants, insects, and animals to use as subjects for study, and develop your artistic skills with pencil, ink, watercolors and colored pencils. July 18 INSECTS ALIVE (AM or PM) Peer under rotting logs, lift rocks in the creek, peek under a leaf, and dig in the dirt to find insects and other invertebrate marvels. Learn that these creepy critters are really quite amazing. July 25 AQUATIC ADVENTURES (AM or PM) All animals and people need water. Explore the importance of water from the smallest puddle to our stream and pond. We’ll catch fish and tadpoles, play water games, and even hike in the rain, weather permitting! August 1 FARM LIVING (AM, PM or Full Day) Grab your straw hat and overalls as we head to the Y’s farm and learn to live off the land. Campers will discover the meaning of organic farming and sustainable living as we discuss the many products that come from animals and crops. We will meet our livestock up close and get our hands dirty bringing food from garden to table. August8 NATURE'SCONNECTIONS(AM,PM,orFullDay) The connections that exist in nature are not always easy to see, but the woods and meadows of the Cassatt preserve are full of surprises! They have the opportunity to learn how to care for the animals in our barn, and also help to plant and maintain the crops in our gardens. Campers learn about different farm animals and their roles on the farm and in our lives, study farm and food nutrition, understand the need for sustainable agriculture, and participate in field trips to local farms to learn how each operates. SCIENCE CAMP Science camp gives kids the opportunity to learn about science through interactive and hands-on science activities and group challenges. Children become scientists for the summer and embark on a series of science adventures! YESC ADVANCED BIRDING 1: MOUNTAIN BIRDING EXPEDITION Ages 13 to 18 Week 5: July 19-25 This camping expedition will immerse participants in the remote forests of upstate New York as we discover the songbirds and other wildlife that inhabit the rolling hills of the finger lakes region. Campers will learn the basics of ornithology, gain insights into bird behavior, and refine their bird identification skills. The trip will include a day visiting the Cornell Lab of Ornithology for some tips from expert birders and a hike around the famous Sapsucker woods. Pricing and other details to be announced soon!

YESC ADVANCED BIRDING 2: COASTAL BIRDING EXPEDITION Ages 13 to 18 Week 8: August 7-13 Join us for a wildlife beach party as we hang ten with the birds and other animals that live down the shore. From sandpipers to pelicans and dogfish to dolphins, this expedition will give you a whole new view of the coast. Centered in the vibrant island community of Isleboro, Maine, we will scan for sea-birds and marine mammals on a ferry ride, hike through maritime woodland preserves, and comb the pebbled beaches of Penobscot bay. COMPETITIVE AQUATICS CAMPS On your Mark, Get set, go! Come out and work on your stroke technique, improve your starts, work on your streamline and so much more at the Competitive Aquatic camp this summer. If you have a passion for the sport of swimming then this camp is for you! DIVING CAMPS COMPETITIVE SWIM CAMPS

Ages 7 to 12 years 1 WEEK/1:00 to 4:00 pm Each applicant should be able to complete a 100IM. Each camp consists of two 30-minute stroke instruction times in the water, 30 minutes of land activities, proper stretching/land based core strengthening exercises, snack time, free swim and swimming games. Swimmers also participate in special events! Campers must bring a snack, water bottle, swimming suit, towel, goggles and change of clothes each day. It’s easy to register for camp! Online Visit www.ymcagbw.org/camp for full details on camp and registration.

In-Person Download a registration packet at www. ymcagbw.org/camp or visit your branch to pick up registration forms. Complete the forms while you’re at the Y, or return at your convenience.

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

A YMCA Membership is not required to register for summer camp.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

The Y is a non-profit charitable organization that strengthens the foundations of our community. Thanks to donations to the Y’s annual campaign, we can offer financial assistance to those unable to pay the usual fees. Upper Main Line YMCA memberships and programs are available to all, regardless of race, creed, disability, etc. If you are interested in sending your child to camp, but are experiencing a financial situation that makes full payment difficult, you are invited to apply for our financial assistance program. All requests are confidential.

REGISTRATION FEE

Registration fees are due at the time of registration. Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Traditional and Non-Specialty Camps: Family Member: $20 per child per week Community Participant: $40 per child per week Specialty Camps: Select camps with limited enrollment require higher registration fees to reserve placement.

SIBLINGS DISCOUNTS

Families with two or more children signing up for the same camp week receive 10% off the lowest weekly fee (restrictions apply).

CAMP PAYMENT

Payments can be made through electronic draft or in person at the branch either through a weekly payment or full payment. All payments are due by May 15th. (Late fees may apply)

CANCELLATIONS

No refunds are available after the start of a camp week. Any camp cancellations less than one week prior to the camp start date will result in an additional $50 penalty fee.

LATE PICK UP FEE

The camp day ends at 6:00 pm. If you are going to be late picking up your child, please arrange to have an emergency pick-up person arrive by 6:00 pm or call the YMCA to inform staff. A late fee of $5 for pick-up one to five minutes past program end time, and $1 per minute thereafter will be charged.
