Mission Statement

In partnership with our citizens, Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation provides high quality, broad-based parks, facilities, programs and services creating a sense of community, enabling a safe and secure environment, and enhancing Gwinnett’s quality of life. The department promotes recreational opportunities to improve the quality of life for all citizens in Gwinnett County and makes reasonable modifications to programs, services or activities when necessary to promote participation by persons with disabilities. SPLOST Success – Pennies for parks In 1996 the Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) was approved by voters. The one-cent sales tax was extended in 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2013, and is essential in preserving greenspace and natural resources in Gwinnett County. This funding has provided many new trails, playgrounds, sports fields, aquatic centers and gymnasiums to improve the quality of life for Gwinnett's citizens.

Camp Refund Policy Written withdrawal requests received more than fourteen (14) days prior to the start of camp will receive a refund, minus a $25 processing fee or an amount equal to half of their total camp fee (whichever is less). No refunds will be issued for requests made less than fourteen (14) days prior to the start of camp. Camp Payment Plan Fee and Transaction Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable and cannot be issued as a credit toward any class, program, or event.

Schools out! Campers want to have fun and their parents want to have confidence knowing what their kids are doing during their days off.

Best Friend, Dacula, Lenora & Lucky Shoals Parks

We offer fun and exciting full-day, week long general day camps. Our Full Day Adventure Camps are specifically designed so that 5 and 6 year old campers are in the Junior Adventure Camp while 7 – 13 year olds are in the Adventure Camps. Both of these fun and exciting camps feature general recreation activities and games with a thematic twist! A $50 per week, nonrefundable deposit, paid by phone or in-person, holds your child’s spot. Just pay the balance two weeks prior.

We want our campers to play with a purpose, so we encourage campers to branch out and learn new things. Special guests share their skills and knowledge to enhance the campers’ experience and enrich the week’s theme. The emphasis is on learning, personal improvement, and satisfaction.

Pinckneyville Park

Parents can feel safe knowing their kids are in our care, and kids are excited about playing and learning. We provide a safe environment for physical, social, and educational experiences. Campers and activities are always supervised by trained counselors or specialized instructors, and our strict sign-in and sign-out policies keep our camps safe.

Mountain Park

Our highly-skilled camp staff and instructors play a key role in making our camps safe, fun, and exciting. All of our counselors and specialized instructors undergo background checks, CPR and first aid certification, and extensive training in curriculum, behavior management, and ageappropriate activities to ensure a quality experience.

George Pierce Park

Our facilities also host several stimulating Partial Day Special Interest Camps with a variety of hours specializing in specific activities such as sports, technology, art, dance, and drama, which are led by contracted instructors. For the preschool set, we offer half-day morning camps at select locations.

At our camps, kids get plenty of interaction with our low counselor to camper ratio – one of the best camper-to-staff ratios around! Our campers receive individual and small group instruction in a variety of activities as they build confidence and increase skill levels. Our staff is here because they enjoy working with children to help them reach their best potential.

Health and Wellness

Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) Standards are implemented in our camps activities. Our staff educates campers on proper nutrition and being physically active. While at camp, campers are challenged to adopt healthy habits which include drinking more water, limiting screen time, eating more fruits and vegetables, and increasing their time spent being active.

Campers have a blast in our cool and comfortable gyms, recreation centers, game rooms, and aquatic facilities! Plus, kids love exploring the outdoors on our wooded trails, playgrounds, and picnic areas encouraging them to embrace environmental responsibility.

Quick Start Tennis is an exciting play format for learning tennis, designed to bring kids into the game by utilizing specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions and modified scoring, all tailored to age and size. Children must be of age at the time the class begins, tennis shoes required, but rackets and balls are provided.
