TRADITIONAL DAY CAMP

Ages 4 & 5 years old, including campers entering Kindergarten in fall, 2017 Member Participants: $200/week Non-Member Program Participant: $225/week Weeks of June 12 – August 21* *No program July 3 – 4, fee prorated Start your child’s appreciation of the great outdoors by enrolling him or her in Wee Backpackers! From the moment campers arrive each day, counselors guide them through traditional camp experiences including hiking, nature study, swimming, group games, and arts and crafts. They have opportunities to sing songs, tell stories, and meet new friends. All activities are geared to show your preschool camper the wonders of nature. Wee Backpackers is carried out in small groups under the watchful eye of counselors trained to meet the needs of young campers. The Wee Backpacker program maintains a low staff to child ratio.

Each day Wee Bees will have a 40-minute progressive water safety lesson at the Camp Manitou outdoor pool. Little swimmers will also have time to play in our splash deck. SUMMER EXTRAVAGANZA Ages 4 years to those entering grade 7 in fall, 2017 Member Participants: $190/week Non-Member Program Participant: $215/week Week of August 28 This is the last chance to enjoy the great outdoors at camp before summer ends! We’ve combined all of our camp’s highlights into an incredible jam-packed session. Games, canoeing, swimming are all part of the fun. Campers search for “silver” and “gold” in the Gold Rush, then cash in their treasure in exchange for fun surprises!

This camp is designed to build self-confidence and teach valuable skills through challenging activities while enjoying an unforgettable adventure. The remainder of the day will be spent enjoying traditional camp activities.

Entering Grades 5 – 8 in fall, 2017 Weeks of: June 19, July 17, July 31 and August 14 Member Participants: $240/week Non-Member Program Participants: $265/week Campers strike out on a bold adventure as they test their strength, strategy, and skill against our high ropes challenge course. Climbers learn about basic climbing, belay techniques, knot tying and climbing safety. Fun team challenge initiatives will aid in a successful climb.

ADVENTURE QUEST Entering Grades 5 – 7 in fall, 2017 Weeks of: June 12, June 26, July 10, July 24, August 7 and August 21 Member Participant: $215/week Non-Member Program Participant: $240/week Taste our three exciting specialty camps in one week! Manitou Challenge campers will experience the Adventure Hunt and an outdoor scavenger hunt. The challenge continues on the Bertram Chain of Lakes as you learn the skills and tackle paddleboards, canoes and kayaks. Our High Ropes Course rounds out the thrill-filled week as campers learn to scale the lower level of the course. Designed for campers who are ready to meet new challenges and have fun!

Kids think, dress, and act like superheroes! Kids bring their own superhero costume or make one at camp. Suiting up as their favorite superhero each day, they’ll explore their own super powers. Kids create a variety of projects that may include: sketching, watercolors or paints, nature collages, picture frames, necklaces and bracelets, and much more. Campers create masterpieces to take home and enjoy!

Entering grades 3 – 5 in fall, 2017 Member Participants: $205/week Non-Member Program Participants: $230/week Weeks of June 12, June 26, July 10, July 24, August 7 and August 21 While learning the fundamentals of archery, campers examine equipment close up, identify the parts of the bow and arrow, and learn the science behind drawing the bow and releasing the arrow. Instructors teach proper grip, stance and aim alignment. Equipment is provided.

ARCHERY/SLINGSHOT CAMP Entering grades 3 – 5 in fall, 2017 Member Participants: $205/week Non-Member Program Participants: $230/week Weeks of June 19, July 17, July 31 and August 14 Two amazing and traditional target sports, the bow and arrow and the slingshot, are very popular today. Participants will gain understanding and learn to properly use them both safely. Campers will learn to make and use their own targets, learn about different types of bows, and the basics of aiming and target shooting.

Campers discover the finer points of preparing for a big outdoor adventure. Participants will learn a variety of useful camping skills that may include building a fire, making camp shelters, knot tying, campfire cooking and more!

Entering grades 5 – 8 in fall, 2017 Member Participants: $205 Non-Member Program Participants: $230 Weeks of June 26, July 17, August 7 and August 14 Campers will learn the basics of digital photography and be able to experiment with both portrait and landscape photography. Each day will be a different theme – from the viewpoint of an ant, or include a tree as a subject. Participants must bring a digital camera. No phones please.

A Thursday overnight adventure on one of our lakes is the highlight of your week.

You will learn and develop the necessary camp skills needed to lead camper activities, as well as group responsibility through activity planning. You will have opportunities to shadow counselors and assist staff in camp activities. There will be plenty of time to hang out with friends – new and old. Come experience camp from a whole new perspective!

Entering grades 9 – 11 in fall, 2017 Member Participants: $300/three-weeks Non-Member Program Participants: $325/three-weeks Three-week session: Weeks of June 12 – 30, July 5* – 21, July 24 – August 4 and August 14 – September 1 *No program July 3 – 4, fee prorated Grow as a leader as you help counselors facilitate camp programs. CLC is designed to build community and provide mentoring and character development. Skills learned are transferrable to camp and non-camp jobs. PEAK ADVENTURE CAMP Entering grades 7 – 9 in fall, 2017

Discover camp’s wild side! Participants enjoy 2 nights and 3 days of the great outdoors during Peak Adventure Camp. These camps promise unlimited fun! Sign up for one or all four. Participants will ride in a 15 passenger van departing from the Southdale YMCA in Edina. Packing list will be available online or call the Customer Service Center at 612-230-9622.

WISCONSIN DELLS OUTDOOR ADVENTURE Offered June 27 – 29 and August 1 – 3 (3-day session) Member Participants: $350/3-day session Non-Member Program Participants: $375/3-day session Fully experience the great outdoors! Tent camp for two nights with us at Devils Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI. On Tuesday we leave Southdale YMCA for Devils Lake State Park. Once camp is set up, the adventures begin! Wednesday is spent at a water park in the WI Dells. We’ll explore the park and enjoy group games, hike, and end with a blazing campfire and a hearty meal. Join us for this thrilling outdoor adventure!

LANESBORO BIKING AND CAVE TOUR Offered July 11 – 13 (3-day session) Member Participants: $350/3-day session Non-Member Program Participants: $375/3-day session This adventure begins at Mystery Cave State Park near Lanesboro, where we’ll set up camp. Then we go underground to an exciting guided cave tour at one of the nation’s most unique caves. We’ll spend the next day renting bikes and exploring the historic town of Lanesboro and the trails and parks along the Root River.

ZIP LINE ADVENTURE Offered July 18 – 20 and August 8 – 10 (3-day session) Member Participants: $350/3-day session Non-Member Program Participants: $375/3-day session This adventure takes campers soaring! Beautiful Interstate Park is our campsite for one night. We’ll enjoy the park’s rolling, wooded hills and the banks of the St. Croix River. Campers will spend a half-day at Trollhaugen Zip Line Adventures soaring from station to station. Then we’ll experience a night sleeping at YMCA Camp Icaghowan. Here we will canoe and participate in camp activities. Truly a memory-making getaway!

NORTH SHORE KAYAK AND ALPINE SLIDE TOUR Offered June 20 – 22 and July 25 – 27 (3-day session) Member Participants: $350/3-day session Non-Member Program Participants: $375/3-day session The starting point for this North Shore adventure is the spectacular harbor city of Duluth. There are so many fun things to see and do there! We’ll spend two nights camping at Spirit Mountain Campground. Our first day adventures include riding the alpine slide, hiking and exploring. On Wednesday campers will spend the day in a guided kayak tour to local islands. This is a trip you don’t want to miss!

HOW TO REGISTER

The deposit is applied to the session fee. To receive the member rate, the child must be a member at the time of registration and during participation in the program. ALL PROGRAMS • Confirmation will be sent via email after registration. You will be billed for the remaining balance, due the week prior to the start of the session. Online registration requires automatic electronic fund transfer (EFT), which will be processed the Tuesday prior to each program session week. • Changes to the original registration, including cancellation, must be made in writing by Monday, one week prior to the start of the session. Submit your changes or cancellations through the contact page of our website: ymcamn.org/contact_us. We encourage change notices to be submitted as soon as possible. If the change notice is not received, you will be billed for the original enrollment choices. There are no refunds on registration deposits and/or registration fees. For Day Camp: A $10 change fee is applied to each session, bus or care change that is made. • A parent handbook is available online at ymcamn.org/summer after April 1, 2017. YMCA PERSONAL PRICING PLAN

Consideration is given to the individual needs of every child and the ability of the program to meet those needs. Please inform the Y during the enrollment process if you or your child requires any special accommodation. It is helpful for a smooth program transition to have a conference prior to enrollment. This information enables the Y to better meet your needs or those of your child, within available resources and to the extent reasonable. All staff that will be working with a child with special needs will be informed of how to care for or meet those needs in a timely fashion through a meeting or written notification.

EVERY FRIDAY DURING DAY CAMP Excluding July 7 and September 1 2 – 3:30 p.m. We bring families together to have fun. That’s what Friday Family Fun is all about – an opportunity to enjoy camp fun with the whole family. It’s a time where your camper can show you the exciting things they’ve experienced at day camp. Meet the counselors and attend Camper-guided tours. See the activities your camper has enjoyed all week long. Enjoy a snack as a family and attend an all-camp program of fun songs and more!
