RGBC 21 Days PRAYER and FASTING 5 August to 25 August, 2016 Theme: Go Forward and Proclaim The Promises Of Jehovah Psalm 83:18 “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.” In original Hebrew a unique personal name appears here. It is spelled ‫( יהוה‬YHWH). It appears 7,000 times in the original Hebrew Scriptures. In English, is “Jehovah.” Psalm 148:13 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven. Throughout Scripture God reveals Himself to us through His names. By Knowing His names we will understand deeper who God really is. The meanings behind God's names reveal the personality and nature of our Abba and how He answers our prayers at different situations.

Who is God to us ? Is God our Most High God, Lord of all creations, God Almighty, Lord who Provide or our Father ? Exodus 20:7,Lev 22:32 Let’s not take God’s names for granted. Let’s begin by stepping forward and breathe in HIS fresh anointing by proclaiming He is our Jehovah Rohi, the Lord our Shepherd. He knows us by our names and heaven rejoices as we bless our Abba by His names, as is in the Holy Scriptures.

RGBC 21 Days PRAYER and FASTING 9 Aug (Tue) 10 Aug (Wed) 11 Aug (Thurs) Theme: Go Forward and Proclaim The Promises Of Jehovah Jehovah Rohi The Hebrew word “Rohi” is both a noun and a verb; meaning “a shepherd” and “a pasture”, as well as “to shepherd” and “to pasture”. JEHOVAH ROHI means “the Lord is my Shepherd”. It is the name JEHOVAH ROHI that we find the most tender and personal relationship between Jehovah and His people. He wants to be in every aspect of our lives, in whom we could truly depend on Him for our every need.

Bibical Background Genesis 48 : 15, Gen 49:24 Then he blessed Joseph and said. ”May the God before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac walked, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this day,….” This is the first time the name Jehovah Rohi revealed in the bible. Jacob called God as his own personal shepherd as God’s tender care and watchfulness for Jacob all the days of his life despite his failures. Jehovah can be your personal shepherd regardless of your past failures or present faults.

The Holy Spirit gave sis Sin Yee a vision: The Holy Spirit revealed the meaning of Jehovah Rohi. I saw Jesus holding my hand, our hands are together. The Holy Spirit revealed that this relationship is a tie of knot. It won’t be broken despite what is going on in our lives. His relationship with us is the basic of everything. It’s like a beating heart, which is alive!

I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. 13 I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. 14 I will tend them in a good pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. 15 I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord. 16 I will search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. This passage see how Jesus-Jehovah Rohi, becomes the perfect shepherd for the sheep. RGBC 21 Days PRAYER and FASTING 16 August to 18 August JEHOVAH NISSI The Lord my Banner

Bible background Read Exodus 17:9-16

It was over a great battle that God revealed himself as Jehovah NISSI. Soon after Israel left Egypt, after crossing the Red Sea, the Amalekites came against them in Rephidim. At the end of the day, God gave the Israelites victory over their enemy. Instead of raising a flag to commemorate the victory, Moses built an altar in worship and remembrance of God. This is where Moses called God Jehovah NISSI because he understood the revelation that God himself is our banner, our victory. He is the one who wins our battles. Personal Altar How do the verses speak to me? 1. What was the battle and how was it won? _____________________________________________________ 2. What is my deep battle right now?

( It could be drugs, pornography, bitterness, loneliness, cancer, dissension, depression, hopelessness, bankruptcy, injustice ) Is the negative voices louder than the voice of My Saviour? How can l overcome them? Do l need help from a brother or a sister from my LG? Lay down my struggles at His altar. Pray for 1) myself to rely on God by raising my hands in prayer the way Moses did. 2) humility and openness for others to hold my hands up when l get weary. 3) right perspective to rise above my battle, to see as God sees 11

17 August 2016 JEHOVAH NISSI Personal / Family Altar Read – Exodus 17:9-16 There is an interesting thing that God says when he tells Moses to write down the story. God says that He " ... will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven." (v14b). That means that this enemy would not rise again - he was defeated UTTERLY. In v16, however, Moses says, " ... the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation." How do the verses speak to me/ my family? 1. How is it that God is saying the enemy was completely defeated and yet there would be future wars with Amalek in future generations? _____________________________________________________________

2. Who does Amalek represent in this story who is active against God's people in all generations?

_____________________________________________________________

Lay down my burdens at His altar. Proclaim His Name over my family. Pray for 1) Our next generation of children will have God with them as they face their own battles. 2) We will gather our family under Jehovah NISSI as our banner and trust Him that the outcome of our battle will be the same as it was for Moses and Joshua. 3) Our confidence that the Lord who says there will always be war, is the same Lord who says He is always the winner.

12

RGBC 21 Days PRAYER and FASTING 18 August 2016 JEHOVAH NISSI LG / Church Read – Exodus 17:9-16 Moses called on his young apprentice, Joshua, to lead the Israelites into battle while he stationed himself on top of a hill overlooking the battle to pray. At the end of the day, with victory in hand, God told Moses to write down what had happened and read it in Joshua's hearing. God was thinking ahead to the time when Joshua would succeed Moses. Joshua will bring God's people across Jordan into the Promised Land. He would face many battles and God wanted him to remember this one first victory God had given them. How do the verses speak to me/ my family? 1.

Why did God tell Moses to write down?

RGBC 21 Days PRAYER and FASTING 19 August to 21 August, 2016 JEHOVAH ROPHE 19 August 2016 Personal Altar Read – Gen 22:1; v2; v4; V12 The Lord Our Healer Rophe/Rapha is used 60 times in the Old Testament, Means to heal, to restore physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Bible background of the Name (Exodus 15:22-26) "If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you. After 400 years of bondage, the people of Israel were free to leave Egypt. They saw with their own eyes plague after plague until the final plague that killed the firstborn male of every household and livestock. After crossing the Red Sea, they sang and danced triumphantly. But after 3 days, they could not find water and complained. When they found water it was bitter. Moses prayed and God turned the bitterness into sweet. God reveals himself as Jehovah-Rophe for the first time to his covenant people

20 August 2016 JEHOVAH R0PHE Bible Refer : Psalm 147:3 2 King 20: 5-7 Emotional Healing: Psalm 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Whatever pain we are carrying around, we need to hand it to the Healer. Physical Healing: 2 Kings 20:5-6 Hezekiah became very ill and was about to die. Intense intercession touched God’s heart and he was healed and his life was even extended. Spiritual Healing: Jeremiah 17:9 This is by far the most important of the three realms of healing. God sees that we are spiritually sick and He provides healing and wholeness through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross. Jeremiah 17:9 records the incurable condition of the human heart: “The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?” Man needs desperately a new heart. Heart comprises our mind, feeling and soul.

22 August 2016 Jehovah Rophe LG and Church Read – Isaiah 53:5 Luke 8:49-56 Isaiah 53:5 "He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed." Healing is part of the atoning work of Jesus Christ. Nearly one-fifth of the Gospel accounts is devoted to Jesus' healing ministry.

Luke 8:49-56 The synagogue leader said that Jarius‘ daughter was dead but … 50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” 51 When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John, James and the child’s father and mother. 52 Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.” 53 54 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.

Bibical Fasting is a spiritual discipline, encouraged by Jesus, Himself, while He was on earth. -

(unlike fasting for medical reasons or dieting), should be done with sincerity. We willingly deprive the body of nourishment and the pleasurable taste of food. Our hearts and minds must be totally focused and directed towards God so that He may be the full source of our strength during our period of fasting.

-

is fulfilled with an attitude of humility. It is not necessary for others to know we are fasting; it is directed towards God (Matthew 6:17-18)

-

calls for correct motive. To further the building up of God’s kingdom, to minister to others, to loosen the chains of injustice and to set the oppressed free. (Isaiah 58:6-7)

-

draws us near to God. Strengthens and renews our inner being spiritually. As flesh decreases, the Spirit increases. (2 Cor 4:16) (Acts 13:2-3).

-

brings down His mercy. (1 Kings 21:29) The entire city of Nineveh, including animals, fasted and God spared them. (Jonah 3:10).

How to fast? 1) Full Fast – no food and liquid ( Moses at Mt Sinai for 40 days ) Esther 4:15-16 : Queen Esther called for this fast before she met the King 2)

Partial Fast – omitting a specific meal or refraining from certain types of food Daniel 10:2-3 Daniel 1:12

3)

Normal Fast – no food but liquid for a set of period of time 2 Chronicles 20:3 King Jehoshaphat called for this fast when his country was confronted with invasion

4)

Fast between husband and wife – abstain from coming together for a short period of time. Devote themselves to praying together instead. Exodus 19:15, the people fast to encounter God at Mt Sinai. 1 Corinthians 7:5

5)

Sacrificial Fast - to abstain from TV , Internet, handphones, fastfood and habits or objects that has become an idol in one’s life.

How many days to fast? 1) Pray and ask God for direction. 2) New to fasting? Please seek advice from our Pastors or LG leaders. ( Extra notes about fasting will be given to LG leaders ) 20

2 Samuel 6 : 10-11 So David would not remove the ark of the LORD unto him into the city of David but David carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gittite. And the ark of the LORD continued in the house of Obededom for three months and the LORD blessed Obededom and all his household. Wherever God is honoured, there is to be found His blessing. Abba Father desires humble and sincere relationship in our hearts ( Gal 2:20 ), family ( Gen 18:19), church (Rev. 2:1) and our mission fields with whoever we meet and relate to each day.

Jesus Christ is the center of our lives, our home and RGBC. Personal/ Family/ Church altar is an awesome time to : 1) stop and ‘ rest ‘ in God’s presence alone or together, cheering our loved ones ( saved and unsaved ) in His will 2) pour out without fear and shame, to listen and learn, to proclaim His Names and promises 3) walk with our children His living words ( Due 6:7) This divine union with the Holy Spirit bind us together as a praying family strengthening father, mother, son and daughter, preparing our children to stand victoriously in this weary world. When we come humbly to His altar, God will alter something in us. He will prepare us to receive His Promises through His words. To receive His promise means, we make way for His transformation. When Abraham built altars and called the Name of God, it was more than a prayer. He believed in a true and living God and was walking in a personal relationship with Him in the midst of a pagan culture. In today’s world, the Holy Spirit lives in us. We are His light in this dark world. Let us continue cheering each other to shine brighter for His glory. Let’s begin at His altar.

21

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. Lord Jesus, we kneel in ONE heart for our family, relatives and friends. We proclaim Your Salvation and John 10:10 for . . .
