21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING

Introduction It is hard to believe that the new year is upon us. How time flies! On January 1st we will all begin reading the same Bible plan for 2014. Thousands of us reading the same sacred text every day, knowing we are not alone– how cool! Then on January 13th, we start a three-week fast together. I am so excited, I can’t stand it. This is going to be our best year yet! I believe we will gain spiritual momentum like never before. We are on this amazing journey together as we seek His face. As you already know, our church’s theme for 2014 is, You Won’t, If You Don’t. When you love the things of this world and sow ungodly seeds, that is exactly what you will reap. But we are told in the Scripture to “set our minds on Him” and seek after godly things. If you sow the things of the Spirit, you will be blessed and reap the things of the Spirit. You won’t reap if you don’t sow, but also make sure you’re sowing in the right place! Our theme verse is Genesis 26:12: “And Isaac sowed in that land and reaped in the same year a hundredfold. And the Lord blessed him…” This verse is so cool. Isaac sowed and in that same year reaped 100 times as much! All this year we will return to this theme. Let’s meditate on what comes before the harvest–the sowing. Let me give you some things to think about and pray for that we will harvest this year: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Souls (Acts 1:8) Spiritual Fruit (Galatians 5:22–23) Healthy Physical Body (3 John 2) Prosperity (3 John 2) Personal Spiritual Growth (Ephesians 4:14–15) 2014 Church Goals (page 50) A Spirit of Generosity Throughout FPC (Weekly Offerings, Heart for the Harvest Offering, and year-end giving)

of us praying today for our own personal harvest. Pray we plant the right seed so we reap the right harvest. Our God has no limits and as such is able to “Ephesians 3:20” each of us and our church together. Please know I am fasting and interceding for you today as we prepare to begin our exciting journey together. Love you,

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING

Fasting TIPS From time to time, Pastor Chris will call our church to a time of fasting. The specific reason may vary slightly for each instance, but in general our fasting always centers around Faith Promise doing our part in expanding God’s kingdom, seeing people saved, and asking God to do works of restoration and healing in people’s lives.

WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU MEAN BY FASTING? In the life of the Christian, fasting is giving up something as an act of devotion to Jesus. Generally, fasting involves giving up all food and only drinking water or juice for the duration of the fast, but some people will choose a variation of this—eating no solid foods, eating only fruits and vegetables, or giving up a particular kind of food for the duration of the fast. If fasting is new to you, you may also choose a partial fast—giving up a meal or two meals a day for the duration of the fast. Although there are many different ways to fast, what is most critical is that you set aside time for prayer each day. Without prayer, fasting is merely dieting. Fasting is a spiritual discipline that every believer should have in their lives. Jesus did not say “if you fast.” He said “when you fast.” (Matthew 6:16)

THE DANIEL FAST In the Old Testament, there are two passages that describe the fasts of Daniel. Combining those two brief descriptions, the Daniel Fast is now commonly used to refer to a fast that only includes vegetables and fruits to eat and water to drink. Dairy, meats, breads, and processed foods are avoided completely.

HOW CAN I KEEP FROM THINKING ABOUT FOOD ALL THE TIME? During the first few days of the fast, it’s natural to think about food more often than normal. Your body will tell you that you’re starving to death, but you’re not. Instead, you’re breaking the patterns of eating that your body is accustomed to. Try to use these hunger pains as an opportunity to focus your mind and attention back toward God. FAITH PROMISE CHURCH 5

Each time you find yourself absentmindedly thinking of food, make the conscious decision to remember God and pray to Him.

ISN’T IT WRONG TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT YOU’RE FASTING? Jesus clearly warned people against drawing attention to themselves when fasting (Matthew 6:1–18), so we must be careful as individuals not to try to impress people through our actions; we’re doing this for God, not for people. Even still, there are many times throughout Scripture when God called groups of people to fast collectively—together demonstrating their dependence on God. The best rule of thumb is to only tell people who need to know that you’re fasting.

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW BEFORE I BEGIN FASTING? • • • •

Headaches and fatigue are a normal during the first three days. Hunger will diminish as you proceed through the fast. Fasting will not impair the health of a healthy person, but medical conditions must be taken into account. Consult your physician if you have questions. During the fast, make sure that you’re drinking plenty of water so that you don’t become dehydrated.

21-DAY

Devotional & FAST

For the next 21 days as we journey through a time of fasting together, we’re going to spend time in prayer and reflection. To help us all stay on the same page, I’ve put together a 21-day devotional. Since the space to write on each page is limited, we have provided extra space for journaling and reflection beginning on page 52. You can also use this space for taking sermon notes. Love you, and praying for you,

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING

DAY 1

Monday, January 13, 2014 As we begin our fast together, remember that you are not alone in this journey in seeking God’s face for a great harvest for FPC and you. For many of you this is a new deal. This makes it all the more thrilling as you seek our Lord at a whole new level. There are many ways to fast. The key is to spend the meal time in prayer. Don’t use the fast to work additional hours or get things done. The time and energy should be focused on seeking His face. Here are some of the ways you can fast: 1. Daniel Fast (Listed on page 5) 2. Total Food Fast (Please make sure you are healthy enough for a full 21-day fast!) 3. Fast one or more meals a day 4. Fast from media or TV (Remember to spend the time you gain in the fast praying, not playing!) Please use the list from my letter to you on page 3 to help you pray for the harvest. Read and meditate on Isaiah 58:1–12. This is one of the most expansive teachings on fasting in the Word. As you read the passage please note why we fast: ________________________ _______________________________________ _______________________________________ _______________________________________ _______________________________________ _______________________________________ _______________________________________

DAY 2

Tuesday, January 14, 2014 You made it to day two–give yourself a hand! Whatever you do, don’t give up. That is exactly what the enemy wants you to do. The devil will stop at nothing to keep you out of the Holy of Holies and the very presence of God. Now is the time to press in, keep going, keep praying, keep pushing, and keep believing God will meet with you. Remember our theme for the year is You Won’t, If You Don’t. This theme is found all through the Word. It is a principle you can’t get around. “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked for a man will reap what he sows… ”this is the very Word of God. This principle is not broken. What would you like to reap? ______________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ Please use the list I gave you in my letter on page 3. Isaac reaped a hundredfold in one year. Can God still do it? One final thought for the day: “If you sow sparingly you will reap sparingly, but if you sow bountifully you will reap bountifully.” Look again at the list the Lord gave you that you need to sow. What will it take for you to sow it bountifully? Now get busy sowing it! Praying for you!

DAY 3

Wednesday, January 15, 2014 We are all running now. By this time God has started to give you some thoughts you haven’t had before. I know He is speaking to you because we are all asking Him to, and He promised to answer our prayers. In the last month you have heard me and others talk about what I’d like to share with you today, and that is your Personal Growth Plan. Question #1 is, do you have one? No? Well, it’s time to get to work. This 21-day fast is part of the spiritual journey the Lord has you on. We are fasting and praying early in the year asking for a huge hundredfold harvest. DAY 4

Thursday, January 16, 2014 Read Genesis 26:12 again. This year as you prepare to sow and reap, take the warning from the Word seriously: Colossians 3:1–4: “Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. DAY 6

Saturday, January 18, 2014 Part of our sowing is in lavish corporate worship of God. Many of our Faith Promise family worship on Saturday. We serve the gracious Lord of the harvest, and He controls the harvest, but you control the seed you are sowing that will make or break 2014 for you. Worship releases the Spirit of God in your life personally and in our church corporately. Ask the Lord to show you anything that could be hindering your sacrifice of praise or worship: ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ In the times of war for the nation of Israel, they asked the Lord who was to lead into battle. DAY 7

Sunday, January 19, 2014 It’s the last day of week one, and this is the Lord’s Day—a great day to rest and to seek His heart and face. If you worship on Sunday, get ready to give Him a great offering—a sacrifice of praise and worship worthy of the God we bow to. Today, our devotional thought is heavenly wisdom. Here we all are—trapped in this physical, cursed, demon-filled world. We know that we “see through a dim mirror” into the spiritual world. We desperately need heavenly wisdom. If we are to sow the right things so that we reap all God has for us, we need His wisdom. He clarifies it in James 3. James 3:13–18: “Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth. This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” List what the world’s wisdom is marked by: ___ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ _____________________________________

DAY 8

Monday, January 20, 2014 Well, you made it through an entire week. Congratulations! Remember the list for prayer I gave you in my letter? This book was designed for us to seek the Lord together—to sow to the Spirit, and reap a great revival. God is blowing wind into the sails of Faith Promise because of our symphony of agreement in seeking His face and sowing intercession, fasting, and corporate humility. I believe He will do Ezekiel 37 for our church body! Today is another day for which to thank the Lord. “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.”“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Have you noticed that most people are negative, have a poor outlook, and look for the worst to happen? How’s your attitude today? In Philippians 2 we are told to, “have the same attitude in us that was in Christ Jesus…” He had a great attitude. We don’t “just” have a great attitude. It requires sowing the right things into our hearts and minds. Sadly, many Saints are not careful what they allow into their thinking. I call it stinking thinking. It is impossible to walk in faith, believe the best, and pray for a great harvest when you have a negative outlook. A poor outlook is from this world, not from heaven. I love what Nehemiah said in 8:10: “Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

DAY 9

Tuesday, January 21, 2014 You are almost half way there! If you are on a total food fast, you can make it. Please restrict your physical activities as your energy level will drop, especially if you are older. I also hope you’re keeping up with your Bible reading plan. You are not alone, as thousands are reading and praying with you. I know I keep reminding you that we must sow if we are to reap revival and everything God wants for us. But too many people sow to the flesh and expect to reap the Holy Spirit. It doesn’t work that way. Paul warns us about this in Galatians 5:16–21: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” As we fire into 2014, we must choose to sow to the Spirit. Do you want to walk in the Spirit? Look at the partial list of the deeds of the flesh. Do you see yourself in the list? Be honest: ______________ _____________________________________

Would you agree that you have sown things in the flesh? Ask the Lord to remove these things and ask Him how to sow seeds of the Spirit. Spend a few minutes and give up–offer up total surrender and submission to the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to fill you and control every aspect of your life. If He reveals other issues, repent and continue to offer up yourself as a living sacrifice to Him. The key to the victorious life is totally surrendering to the Lordship of Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to have His way completely in you. Praying for a major breakthrough for you. DAY 10

Wednesday, January 22, 2014 Many of the questions people ask me have something to do with the will of God for their lives. “Should I marry this person, take this job, move to another state?” The list is long. That’s why I love to pray the Scripture. Praying the Word is praying and knowing the will of God. For the next few days, let’s spend some time in some of the biblical prayers. When you pray a biblical prayer, you know this is the will of God for you. In Ephesians 1:14–21 we find one such prayer: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.” You could spend days in this powerful paragraph. The depth of this spiritual well has no bottom. Think through all the things in this prayer

that are prayed for you. Which of these things do you need to seed into your spirit? ____________ _________________ _________________ Spend a few minutes thanking the Lord for moving in this area, for this is without a doubt His will for our lives. DAY 11

Thursday, January 23, 2014 Thank you for taking this Journey with Jesus and with me as your Pastor. Today we look at another biblical prayer for you. This will rock your world as this is the revealed will of God for you. Ephesians 3:14–21: “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. ” This is one of my favorite passages of Scripture. List from this Spirit-inspired prayer what God’s will is for you: ___________________________ _____________________________________ Which one of these do you need more of right now? _________________________________ Ask, believing that God will do His will in you and grant your request.

Read the last sentence in the passage–what a thought to meditate on! In this season of fasting, sowing, and believing God for a mighty harvest, look at all He can do. Can God do more than you ask? Can God do more than you can think? Reread the last phrase and answer why God chooses to answer us in such an awesome fashion: _________________ Can you feel your faith rising up? In the name of Jesus I speak to the faith placed in you by Him. Rise up! Grow to new heights and new levels. I believe you are moving right this minute. Have Your mighty way in us, Lord!

DAY 12

Friday, January 24, 2014 The weekend is here, and you’re almost done with the second week. The weekend gives you more time to spend seeking, chasing, and pursuing the Lord with all you are. I hope the Lord is speaking to you through these biblical prayers. Let’s meditate on another one:

Spend a few minutes imagining with me what your harvest could be like if God were to do for you what He did for Isaac.

Philippians 1:8–11: “For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. “

Write out your harvest in 2014: _______ _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________

Reread the prayer and where it uses “you” or “your,” put your name in place of those words. This prayer is for you. The Holy Spirit inspired Paul to pen this prayer almost 2,000 years ago. The Holy Spirit had you in mind when these words were uttered.

DAY 13

Saturday, January 25, 2014 The work week is over for many, and it’s time to rest and disconnect! But don’t disconnect from God. The weekend is the time to press in harder. You have more time, and corporate worship for our family of Faith Promise will be happening for thousands across many locations. You are not alone as thousands are seeking the Lord today and are praying for you as you do the same thing. Never forget we are a spiritual family. That is very important to the Lord and as such, should be to us. Jesus died for our gathering. All of us that “know” the Apostle Paul love him. Let me show you at least one of the reasons God used him and will use you and us. Philippians 3:10–15: “…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you.” I pray these verses all the time. I want it!

Sunday, January 26, 2014 It’s Sunday, and you have completed two weeks of the fasting and prayer season for Faith Promise. We look at the Sabbath as the end of the week. In the Jewish calendar they saw the Sabbath as the first day of the week. God set it up so the Jews would begin their week with worship and thus set the tone for the week to come. It is a great thought.

thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.”

Today, many of you are going to gather for our God. Some of you have already gathered and enjoyed the corporate worship with your spiritual family. Please pray for the others that will worship with us today. I encourage you to make it a habit of praying for our gathering. Pray for the power of God to be present. Pray for people to be saved, challenged, transformed, and fall in love with God. Your participation in this journey is proof of your love for Him. 2014–time to sow and reap! We still have more than 11 months left. Sow, sow, and sow some more so He can give us a hundredfold harvest in the Spirit.

The other biblical prayers we have prayed are to people Paul knew, but he had never been to Colossae. How cool is that?

Let’s look at another prayer for you that is the revealed will of God for you. Colossians 1:9–12: “For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving

DAY 15

Monday, January 27, 2014 Hey saints, today we begin our last week. Are you okay? I would love to hear how the Lord is speaking to you. Email your stories to me at [email protected]. God is moving in a major way in our body because you are pressing in, praying, and not giving up. Remember what Paul said yesterday? “I do not cease to pray for you.” As your Pastor, I can say the same thing. I do not cease to pray for you, and I ask you to do the same for me and for our Faith Promise spiritual family. At the beginning of our journey together I gave you a list to pray over—things we are asking a hundredfold harvest from the Lord. I used a verse few know. It is 3 John 2: “Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers.” Is this a biblical prayer? ___________________ Do you think it is the will of God for you? ____ In how many aspects of your life does the Lord want you to prosper? ____________________ List all the areas of your life in which you are prospering: ____________________________ ______________________________________ I hope you ran out of room to write! DAY 16

Tuesday, January 28, 2014 We are coming close to the end of our threeweek journey together. I have so loved writing these devotions for you. I pray that the Lord is speaking to you. I pray that you will never be the same and your harvest–our harvest–will change and multiply a hundredfold just as Isaac’s did. Jesus is the Lord of the harvest. HE CAN! Part of my job as your Pastor is to prepare you for the “Bema Seat” of judgment where each Christ follower will stand in heaven. I so long to hear the Lord say to you, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” This will not happen if you do not sow the right seed. 2 Corinthians 5:9–11: “Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men…” Here we are all warned! Look at what John says in 2 John 1:8: “Watch yourselves, that you do not lose what we have accomplished, but that you may receive a full reward.” How do you think you can, “watch yourselves?” ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________ ______________________________________

DAY 17

Wednesday, January 29, 2014 Let me give you something to pray about today and into the future. This is a supernatural request. I have to explain. Does God expect every part of His Body, the church, to do their part? Of course He does! In the 1800’s, an Italian mathematician and philosopher named Pareto gave a postulation called the 80/20 principle. That is, 20% of the people do 80% of the ministry, give 80% of the money, and produce 80% of the results. This is not the will of God! Ephesians 4:14–16: “As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.” “Each part” means each of us. God has given FPC a huge vision, and we cannot be faithful to His calling and direction when a large part of the body just attends and does nothing else. Thank God for you and all you do for His church! In Romans 12 and in 1 Corinthians 12, gifts are listed and each part of the body is commanded to do its part. 20% or less can’t carry the rest. Please pray we accomplish ALL the Lord’s desires for FPC!

Please agree with me in prayer for a spirit of generosity and obedience in our body in the area of giving to our Lord. If the entire church tithed, we would quickly be out of debt and able to open more campuses and reach more people. Let’s pray together that we really will make it hard to go to hell from East Tennessee! We are better together, and with synergism of the Spirit there is nothing that will be impossible for us. Are you doing your part? What would FPC be like if every attender was just like you?

DAY 18

Thursday, January 30, 2014 Part of our journey and prayer time and fasting is an act of war with hell and the demonic forces that are at war with us. They are at war with you and your family, your small group, and our church.

The only people that will not experience deliverance are those who refuse to believe He can deliver them.

We must keep on our frontal lobe that we are “overcomers,” we are victorious, and that God has given us the weapons we need to fight from victory and for victory.

Since the real battlefield is the mind, is there an area of your thinking in which you need to take some thoughts captive? __ _________________ _________________ _________________

2 Corinthians 10:3–5: “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,.” I love this passage, for in it we are encouraged and informed of our weapons. They are not the weapons of the world. DAY 19

Friday, January 31, 2014 We are coming down the stretch, and the 21 days are almost over. What is the first thing you will eat or enjoy after the fast is over? Yesterday we talked about spiritual warfare. Many dismiss it to their own peril or to the peril of those they love. In Ephesians 6:10–19 Paul lists for us the “Spiritual Armor” we need to wear on a daily basis: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf…” List all of the weapons we have: _____________

DAY 20

Saturday, February 1, 2014 We are feeling more spiritual momentum now than ever before due to the fasting and prayer of all the saints together. Tomorrow is the last day of the fast. You have done well! I pray this journey has created a holy hunger in you that can only be quenched by the power and presence of our Holy God.

Why was God displeased with them? _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________ _________________

If we are going to continue to reap God’s harvest, then He must become first for all of us. In the last book of the Old Testament, the Prophet Malachi brings a stinging rebuke to the nation of Israel because they gave God their leftovers!

Do you give the Lord your best? _________________

Malachi 1: 6–10: “ ‘A son honors his father, and a servant his master. Then if I am a father, where is My honor? And if I am a master, where is My respect?’ says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests who despise My name. But you say, ‘How have we despised Your name?’You are presenting defiled food upon My altar. But you say, ‘How have we defiled You?’ In that you say, ‘The table of the Lord is to be despised.’ But when you present the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? And when you present the lame and sick, is it not evil? Why not offer it to your governor? Would he be pleased with you? Or would he receive you kindly?” says the Lord of hosts. ”But now will you not entreat God’s favor, that He may be gracious to us? With such an offering on your part, will He receive any of you kindly?” says the Lord of hosts. ”Oh that there were one among you who would shut the gates, that you might not uselessly kindle fire on My altar! I am not pleased with you…”

DAY 21

Sunday, February 2, 2014 It’s the last day of the 21 days, and I know you are excited. If you kept up all three weeks, you are to be commended. I am grateful for your time with the Lord. It truly makes a difference for our whole church body. Others will harvest because of what you have sown in the Spirit. Revelation 5:8: “When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” Did you know God keeps every prayer you pray? Your prayers are more important to God and to us than most realize. You make a huge difference! Our harvest of a hundredfold this year will be partly because of you. Holy God, I ask you to move in power right now on the person reading this prayer. Inject them with a double dose of the Holy Ghost. Open their eyes to your power and potential in their lives. Reveal any lie of the enemy that has found its way into their hearts. Holy God, I ask for a fresh baptism of your love, presence, and Holy Spirit. I pray you will remove any spiritual blinders the enemy has put on them so they can see you more clearly, nearly, and dearly. Let this 21-day journey be just the beginning of the spiritual breakthroughs they will have. I ask for a holy hunger to find its way into their hearts and minds. I ask for a deep grasp of your Word and all Your promises to them. I pray this year is the greatest harvest they have ever experienced. Mighty God, reveal Yourself, and show them they are more than conquerors and overcomers. The enemy is defeated, strongholds are broken, and Ezekiel 37—the Breath of God—is being blown in them, on them, and through them. I know you will use them to a greater level than they ever dreamed possible. I believe Ephesians 3:20 for them, that “You will do exceedingly and abundantly more than they can think or ask.” Your plans for FPC are beyond breathtaking, and they will help lead the charge. Teach them to number their days so they can present to you a heart of wisdom–heavenly wisdom this world knows nothing about. Keep us on our faces and after your heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, totally and completely believing you are answering already—answering all of our heart’s desires. Walk in His power and anointing this day, and every day, until He comes to get you. I love you more than you know! EXODUS 15:19–17:7 MATTHEW 22:1–33 PSALM 27:1–6 PROVERBS 6:20–26

RESOURCING THE

Kingdom

Through your financial contributions, you’re partnering with Faith Promise Church in the work of changing lives locally and worldwide. GENEROSITY: DEVELOPING HEAVEN’S HEART Faith Promise is committed to helping our congregation grow in all areas of spiritual growth, including generosity. Generosity begins with the biblical understanding that God owns everything. Once we understand that nothing really belongs to us and that we are only managers or stewards, we can begin the generosity journey, allowing God to give us a heart that loves to give. Like many other areas of spiritual growth, generosity isn’t something that comes naturally to most people. We must exercise our generosity to grow in the habit of giving. There are several biblical reasons why we should cultivate generosityin our lives: • • • •

Generosity is the antidote to greed. Through generosity, we join with Jesus in furthering His work in the world, funding the life-changing ministry of the church. Our generosity reminds us that this world is not our home. Generosity helps us to live with meaning and purpose.

Our church is completely supported by the tithes and offerings of our congregation. You can join us by giving online at http://faithpromise.org/ give, giving at a kiosk in the Lobby of each of our campuses, or by giving through cash or check in the offering boxes in the Worship Center.

Heart FOR THE

HARVEST The Heart for the Harvest Offering is a special time each year when we give sacrificially as a church to further the ministry of Faith Promise and ask God to use our church to make an eternal difference in the world. This offering is key in our effort to launch new campuses and see exponential growth and changed lives. We ask that you prayerfully considering giving above and beyond your regular tithes to the Harvest Offering weekend each November. Contributions can be made online at any time by going to faithpromise. org/give. Our Heart for the Harvest Offering specifically focuses on the following areas:

DEBT REDUCTION To help place Faith Promise in a stronger financial position, a portion of this year’s offering will be dedicated to debt reduction. As we pay down debt, the portion of the budget that is now consumed with debt reduction will be freed up for ministry purposes.

MULTISITE As our portable campuses grow and mature, the need for permanent campus locations becomes increasingly important. Part of this year’s H4H Offering will be set aside to help us purchase those spaces or new ones as God provides, as well as launch additional campuses in the future.

MISSIONS A third area of focus for this year’s offering is on our International Campus. Partnering with Terry Dupont, one of the founding pastors of Faith Promise and Open Eyes Ministries, we’ll be taking the hope of Christ to Central America by starting a new, life-giving church.

Goals

PRAYER

PEOPLE ARE OUR PRIORITY This year we are asking God to send 525 people who will follow Christ in baptism. Many of these baptisms will come from our weekend services as well as our children and student camps. We will always continue to add sites, seats, and services to reach people for Christ. Pray that our church family will be inviters and have a passion for bringing those far from God into an environment where they can meet Him, and that they will personally share their story with others. Pray for God’s direction in planning and launching a new campus in 2015. Pray that God would give us eyes to see the people around us as He does.

FAMILIES ARE OUR FOUNDATION We believe that the hope of the world is the church and that the hope of the church is the family. This year we will invest in marriages, children, and students. Pray that these ministries and our counseling ministry will continue to strengthen the families at our FP campuses. Pray for God to strengthen our families, our family ministries, and our ministry opportunities to families this year. Pray for the resources at our Family Ministry Centers to impact our church families. Pray that marriages would be strengthened and relationships would be restored.

GATHERING FOR OUR GOD We are asking God to send 500 new people who will attend services at our campuses. We want to disciple the body of Christ by adding new small groups to create spiritual momentum in our church. Pray that our worship services will invite Christ’s presence to inhabit our worship. Pray that our Small Group Leaders will create environments for growth and accountability. Pray that our small group alignments will connect our hearts to Christ and our community as we’re transform us to be like Him. Pray for people to attend the Next Steps Class and become a part of our Core Team. Pray that new people would step up to lead new groups and that existing groups would multiply.

21 DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING

GOD GETS THE LAST WORD We believe in the Bible—that it is God’s inerrant, infallible, God-breathed Word for us. This year we are participating in the One Year® Bible Reading Plan as well as fasting together for 21-days as we ask God to move in our church in a way that He never has before! Pray that His Word will make a difference in our lives! Pray that God will speak to us and direct our path as we study His Word. Pray that many would take strong responsibility for their spiritual growth and establish a growth plan for the year.  (http://fpchur.ch/growthplan)

DEVELOPING HEAVEN’S HEART We believe that God has a generous heart and that we should too! Pray for our church family to give generously in our weekly offerings, our yearly Heart for the Harvest Offering this fall, and year-end giving. Pray that our church families attain new levels of giving—from Beginner, to Learner or Core to Lavish—so that we can effectively reach our community and world for Christ. Pray that we find new ways to eliminate indebtedness in our ministry. Pray that our church will attend the financial classes offered to more effectively manage the resources God has given them.

SERVING IS HIS STRATEGY We believe that every believer is called to serve and given a spiritual gift. As a staff team, we are committed to recruit, develop, and retain volunteers in ways that we never have before. We need new volunteers at each of our campuses in every ministry. Pray that our church will recognize their spiritual gifts and put them to work in His Kingdom. Pray that we will value volunteers in a way like never before!

MISSIONS ARE OUR MANDATE We believe that God has called His church to be His hands as well as His voice here on this planet—both locally and globally. We will continue to serve locally in various ministries that we support, and organize trips to Big Creek, KY, Jamaica, Mexico, East Asia, Costa Rica, Honduras and South Africa. Pray that Christ’s presence will go before each team and that God will move in amazing ways as they minister in His name. Pray for people to be saved and discipled and His church to be strengthened. Pray for our FP missionaries. Pray that we humbly serve our community in every way possible.
