Cultural, beautiful & delicious Calais…
Day
First of all, don’t forget to pre-order your wine from us. This will not only save you valuable exploration time, but also £10 off every £150 you pre-order! Now you have the day to enjoy Calais...
1. From the port head straight to the centre of Calais. Here, take time to marvel at The Six Burghers of Calais, one of the great works of romantic sculptor Auguste Rodin. The statue symbolises the dedication of six noblemen of Calais, who were prepared to give up their lives to Edward III of England in order to save the inhabitants of the town. You’ll also be able to see the Calais Belfry, which is annexed to the lovely Town Hall and is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage monuments.
2. Facing the Town Hall is the second World War Museum, located in a genuine German Navy bunker in the Parc Saint Pierre! Walk through the twenty rooms of exhibits and immerse yourself in the history...
3. Those travelling on a Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday should also explore the markets in Place d’Armes (Weds & Sat only) and Place Crèvecoeur (Thur & Sat only) for delicious French delicacies.
4. Moving away from the centre, keen ramblers (or people that simply enjoy panoramic views!) can head to the top of the Cap Blanc Nez cliffs (awarded the title of grand site de France 2011) for some of the most incredible views of Pas de Calais, and take a moment to simply enjoy the beauty of our Coast...
5. All this exploration is bound to work up your appetite! So we recommend a leisurely lunch at a fantastic little gourmet restaurant called ‘Le Grand Bleu’ offering modern French cuisine. It’s owned by a young chef, Matthieu Colin who we feel thoroughly deserves recognition across the channel. Matthieu prepares all his dishes with love and creativity, and we hope you’ll enjoy his wonderful food as much as we do!

How to find us Those pesky Sat Navs aren’t always the most reliable of devices, and the particularly troublesome ones could well have you lost in a field somewhere before you know it..! Therefore, we have put together some easyto-follow directions below to both of our branches, no matter what your method of transport over the channel!
Calais: From the Eurotunnel: On exiting the terminal take the A16 (signposted Calais). Drive for about 10 minutes until you reach junction 47; this is signposted Calais Port/Car Ferry. Exit at junction 47 and on the following road take the first exit at junction 3 (signposted Zone Marcel Doret). Take the first exit on the roundabout and then head straight on, crossing a mini roundabout before the store appears straight ahead of you.
From the ferry terminal: On exiting the terminal follow the signs for the A16/A26 (signposted Paris/Reims). Continue on the A26 for about 5 minutes and exit at Junction 3. You will come to a roundabout where you need to take the fourth exit signposted Zone Marcel Doret. Keep going straight on, crossing a mini roundabout before the store appears straight ahead of you.
Coquelles:
It’s so easy to cross the channel and take advantage of the savings on low duty wine at Majestic Wine Calais. There are two main options: the P&O car ferry that leaves from Dover, and the Eurotunnel Le Shuttle car train that leaves from Folkestone.
From the Eurotunnel: On exiting the terminal take the A16 (signposted Boulogne). On the A16 take the first exit you come to which is junction 41, signposted Coquelles/Sangatte. Turn right at the roundabout off the slip road and then you will come almost immediately to another roundabout (you can’t miss this as there is a big drill on the middle of the roundabout). Turn right again onto Avenue Charles de Gaulle and then drive for about 5 minutes. At this point you will see us on the left hand side after a small selection of hotels. To enter the store, go all the way around the roundabout in front of you and then take the entrance on your right.
From the Ferry Terminal: On exiting the terminal take the A26 and drive for about 5 minutes until you reach the A16 motorway. Take the right hand slip road signposted Boulogne/Channel Tunnel and then on the motorway drive for about 10 minutes until you reach junction 41. Exit at Junction 41 and then turn right at the roundabout off the slip road and you will come almost immediately to another roundabout (you can’t miss this as there is a big drill on the middle of the roundabout). Turn right again onto Avenue Charles de Gaulle and then drive for about 5 minutes. At this point you will see us on the right hand side. To enter the store, go all the way around the roundabout in front of you and then take the entrance on your right.
