The main event When the capacity crowd at Wembley roars as the England football team score, or the fans at the ACC Liverpool scream when their favourite rock band takes to the stage, the OCS Facilities Management Team is working hard behind the scenes to make sure nothing distracts from the main event. Event organisers, sports teams and entertainers increasingly base their venue choice on the professionalism and efficiency of the security staff, the ease of parking, the

variety and quality of catering options, the venue’s cleanliness and general appearance, the helpfulness of safety stewards and value for money provided for spectators. High quality facilities management helps to bring in the crowds by improving the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the venue and by reducing the risk of event disruption with associated financial and reputational damage.

Each event is unique, each venue is different From one-off events such as marshalling the Tour de France through London or managing high-profile occasions in the Royal Parks, to a long-term total facilities management contract across the NEC Group’s venues in Birmingham, and the ACC Liverpool, we are experts in supporting leisure events of all shapes and sizes. Each event is unique. The crowd dynamics of a cricket match are very different from a

football game. A business exhibition requires a different approach to a wedding fair and a pop concert cannot be treated the same as an orchestral performance. The staff requirements for each event will be different and stewards will require different skills, qualifications and experience to work at different types of event. We work closely with the event organisers, examining each event’s risk profile and matching staff and service provision accordingly.

Management support The sport and leisure sector operates 24/7 where support staff often work unsocial hours and often in challenging conditions. Our management team all have an operational background and understand the unique pressure and challenges faced by our people every day. They have a high level of involvement at every venue, not

just to provide expertise and reassurance to our customers, but to demonstrate support to our people. The extent of management involvement on a day-to-day level at every site, sets us apart from the competition, and ensures that we attract, and retain, the top people to support your events.
