About SYHA Hostelling Scotland SYHA Hostelling Scotland is a selffunding charity operating a network of over 60 exceptional youth and affiliate hostels for the benefit of all those wishing to experience what Scotland has to offer. Our unique sites provide affordable, comfortable, safe and quality-assured accommodation with a warm friendly welcome, local knowledge, activities and services for guests travelling around Scotland.

As a not-for-profit organisation, we encourage guests to join SYHA Hostelling Scotland which costs only £15 per year for adult annual membership for up to 9 people (see p32 for further details). Members enjoy a range of exclusive benefits including dual membership of Hostelling International, providing access to more than 4,000 youth hostels in over 90 countries worldwide. Membership and guest overnight income supports our charitable youth programmes and the maintenance of the hostelling network, particularly in rural Scotland.

SYHA Hostelling Scotland welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds and interests. Our youth hostels are popular with individual travellers, families and small and large groups. It is this mix of visitors which makes hostelling such a unique and interesting experience.

Myrxpiad Opening

Youth hostel opening dates and reception times outwith the main holiday season can vary, e.g. weekend opening only. Please check our website or call or email the relevant youth hostel directly. As a guide, the reception desks of small rural hostels are normally open between 7.30-10.00 and 17.00-22.30 and are generally closed during the day, whilst our city youth hostels are normally open 24 hours.

Our larger youth hostels provide guests with a complete meal service consisting of a three course menu plus a selection of daily specials. Smaller locations provide a two course ’Heat It & Eat It’ Meal Deal with dishes such as a meat or vegetable curry or chilli con carne with an ice cream pot for dessert. Kids’ meals are also available at many locations.

Kick start your day with a delicious breakfast. Nearly all of our youth hostels provide breakfast whether it’s cooked or continental. Breakfasts come with tea or coffee and a glass of fruit juice. Our smaller, remote youth hostels provide a continental ‘wee’ breakfast with a smaller selection of food items.

A selection of beverages is offered at most youth hostels and those which are licensed offer a range of soft drinks, wines, lagers, ciders and fine local ales. Our youth hostels also offer a selection of teas and coffees.

Please note Glen Affric and Loch Ossian do not provide any meals.

Our hearty packed lunches are filled with a selection of sandwiches, fruit, crisps, biscuits and a drink. A number of our youth hostels have restaurants and cafes providing a selection of main meals, snacks and lighter lunch options.

Please refer to the table below for a guideline of prices during the year for both rooms (per person per night) and dorm beds. Rates for certain special events throughout the year, including Bank Holidays, may be subject to a supplement, so early booking is recommended.
