If you require your cheque returned please contact the Centre within 3 business days to make arrangements for pick up. Cheques not picked up will be shredded. Congregate Dining Program Mondays Monday Lunch Bunch This is a weekly lunch program that gives an opportunity to socialize with old and new friends while enjoying lunch, followed by a weekly program. Fitness Classes Class Guidelines 1. 2. 3. 4.

All participants must be a member of Community Care East York Seniors Centre. Registration and full payment is required before or on the first class. After the first class session, no refunds will be issued. Requests for a refund after the first class will only be allowed for medical reasons in which case a doctor’s note must be provided. Refund will be pro-rated to the time of the cancellation request. 5. Any individuals who would like to try a class you may do so and pay for one individual class. 6. The Centre is not responsible for providing make-up classes for classes missed for personal reasons. 7. The Centre reserves the right to change the schedule, instructor and location of the classes. Notice will be given to class participants in a reasonable time line.

This is a class geared to all fitness levels. The focus will be on safe and effective exercises to help strengthen the bones that are most commonly affected by osteoporosis, namely the spine, the hips, the wrists and the ankles. Also, special attention will be given to exercise modification to decrease fracture risk in those areas. The first half of the class will be done standing with the second half done standing, seated, or on the floor. For those unable or uncomfortable with exercising on the floor, a seated version will be shown. Exercises will be taught using body weight, resistance bands, and hand held and ankle weights. Clinics Foot Care Clinic and Blood Pressure Clinics Please call the Centre for an appointment at 416-467-1166 Professional foot care for your feet is important to maintain mobility and a healthy lifestyle. The clinic is staffed by a registered nurse with specialized foot care certification. Treatment for minor foot problems, such as corns, calluses and cutting of toenails is available. Blood Pressure: FREE Foot Care: $21.00 per visit which will be billed to you. 6

Friday, September 16

An Irish immigrant lands in 1950’s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, she must choose between two countries and the people that exist within them. Time: 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

A Fall Festival of Fundraising Come join us for a week-long event to help the Centre supplement the cost of the programs that we all enjoy. There will be a creative craft market all week and we will top off the event with a delicious lunch on Friday.

The Festival Market Artisans from our knitting and plastic canvas groups have been working very hard to have wonderful handcrafted items for you to purchase. The Market will be open all week long so please bring a friend or a family member. This will be a great time to do some early Christmas shopping as well as support our Centre. Date: Monday September 26 - Friday September 30

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

The Festival Feast On Friday we will cap off the week with a lovely catered lunch consisting of chicken pot pie with salad and dessert. We will have entertainment by Alec and Aron with broadway tunes. You are welcome to bring a friend or a family member but you must register for this event! Date: Friday, September 30

Halloween Dance

Friday, October 28

Join us in celebrating Halloween with an afternoon of music that we all love so much. Feel free to dress up in costume. Grab a friend, or make a new friend, to listen to great music or to dance. Back by popular demand, the Singing DJ, Darryl Palmer will sing and spin the hits from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s and keep the party going. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes!
