100 years + of swiss HERITAGE

two wheel passion since 1906 It all began in 1906, more than 100 year ago, when in the Swiss canton of Lucerne, a familyowned repair shop for bicycles and motorcycles was opened that was to become today's diversified Hostettler Group. The foundations for today’s activities were laid with the formation of Hostettler AG in 1957. Another crucial step in the company’s over one hundred years of commercial activity was taken in 1968 when Hostettler was appointed general importer of YAMAHA motorcycles for Switzerland. Hostettler Autotechnik AG was founded just four years later in 1972. Intercycle followed in 1979, the iXS Motorcycle Fashion brand in 1980, and Hostettler Motoren AG in 1987. The founding of Hostettler gmbh in Germany in 1991 signalled a new forward-looking step towards the European Union, while the creation of Cosmosport in 1998 demonstrated flexibility and openness in the market for new in-trend sports. In 2001 iXS (Sports Division) was launched, sinalling a new era of mountain bike apparel and protective gear development, built on a century-long passion for all things two-wheeled.

Leidenschaft für Zweiräder seit 1906 Was im Jahre 1906 im luzernischen Wolhusen als Familienbetrieb mit einer einfachen Fahrrad- und Motorradwerkstätte begann, hat sich bis heute zum vielseitigen Unternehmen mit insgesamt acht innovativen Tochterfirmen entwickelt. Mit der Gründung der hostettler ag wurde 1957 der Grundstein zur heutigen Geschäftsform gelegt. Ein entscheidender Schritt in der über 100 jährigen Firmengeschichte bedeutete die Übernahme des Generalimports von YAMAHA Motorrädern im Jahre 1968. Nur vier Jahre später, 1972, wurde die hostettler autotechnik ag gegründet. 1979 folgte das im Fahrradbereich tätige Unternehmen intercycle, 1980 die Motorrad-Bekleidungsmarke iXS MOTORCYCLE FASHON und 1987 die hostettler motoren ag. Die 1991 eröffnete hostettler gmbh in Deutschland signalisiert einen zukunftsorientierten Schritt in Richtung Europa, die 1998 gegründete Firma cosmosport zeigt Flexibilität und Offenheit für neue Trendsportmärkte. Mit der Lancierung der Marken iXS (Sports Division) in 2001 wurden weitere Schritte für eine erfolgreiche Zukunft eingeleitet.

NURTURE it We take responsibility As a company that manufactures and markets top-quality sports textiles, we are concerned to give due weight to the aspect of sustainability. Sustainability is a product property, a lifestyle, a conviction, and above all a responsibility – not just in the area of raw materials, but also in connection with the procurement and processing of those materials, and right through to the distribution of the finished product on the global market. We would like to ensure in the middle term that appropriate aims are pursued and realized in this area, so as to realize successive optimizations in our production processes, in development and in the products themselves – with the aim of bringing about sustainable and lasting change.

Fabrics based on RECYCLED plastic Recycling is an environmentally friendly method of processing starting materials into sustainable textiles, as a basis for jerseys or shorts. For example, iXS is a starting material based on recycled plastic from PET bottles. These are collected, cleaned, ground and processed into a granulate. In the next part of the process, this granulate is melted down and then spun into yarn. This results in a top-quality polyester textile, saving up to 50 percent of the energy used in the production process and around 50 percent of CO2 emissions.

Stoffe aus recycelten Materialien Recycling ist eine umweltfreundliche Methode, Ausgangsmaterialien zu nachhaltigen Materialien für Jerseys oder Shorts weiter zu verarbeiten. Bei iXS ist das Ausgangsmaterial für Recycling gebrauchte PET-Flaschen. Sie werden gesammelt, gereinigt, zermahlen und zu einem Granulat verarbeitet, das in einem nächsten Arbeitsschritt eingeschmolzen und dann zu Garn versponnen wird. Auf diese Weise entsteht hochwertiges Polyestergewebe, bei dem bis zu 50 Prozent Energie im Herstellungsprozess und zirka 50 Prozent an CO2Emissionen eingespart werden. 5

The iXS development team's playground is in three of the world's leading test centers. From design sketches, to CAD design, clay models and 3-D prints, our prototypes find their way through a series of rigorous impact and stress testing, coupled with chemical and flammable tests. After that - the real life riding tests! It takes no less than two years to bring an iXS product to you from initial concept. We take our time with it. It's your safety in our hands after all. iXS helmets and protective gear are benchmarked to European EN, American CPSC and ASTM DH standards.

Unseren Arbeitsbereich bezeichnen wir als unseren "Playground". Die iXS Entwicklungsteams arbeiten in drei der weltweit führenden Testlabors. Vom Designkonzept zur CAD Bearbeitung, vom handgefertigten Gipsmodell zum digitalen 3D-Druck Modell, müssen alle unsere Prototypen auf ihrem Weg zum finalen Produkt strengen Anforderungen stand halten. Diese werden auf Aufpralldämpfung, Materialfestigkeit, Qualität und Sicherheit geprüft. Prüfungen auf chemische Zusammensetzungen, resp. schädliche und unerwünschte Zusatzstoffe sowie Entflammbarkeit sind dabei selbstverständlich. Und zum Schluss – der Praxistest auf dem Bike und im Gelände. Vom ersten Entwurf auf dem Zeichenbrett bis zum fertigen Produkt und zur Markteinführung, dauert es in etwa zwei Jahre. Wir lassen uns Zeit, das richtige zu tun. Sicherheit und Komfort auf höchstem Niveau ist unsere Ziel. iXS Helme und Protektoren zum Beispiel erfüllen Sicherheitsnormen wie EN für Europa, CPSC für Amerika und ASTM für den DH Einsatz.

Richie is one of the original freeriders from back in the day when freeriding was on the rise and becoming a way of life. He grew up in Kamloops in British Columbia, Canada, and spent most of his adult life in Whistler, Canada. Nowadays you’ll find Richie in California, or to be more exact, Laguna Beach, which he currently calls home.

Richie ist einer der ursprünglichen Freerider. Freeriden stand damals als Synonym für ein Lebensgefühl auf dem Mountainbike. Aufgewachsen in Kamloops, British Columbia (Kanada), verbrachte er die meiste Zeit als Erwachsener auf dem Mountainbike. Aktuell trifft man Richie in Kalifornien an, genauer gesagt in Laguna Beach Laguna Beach, was er zur Zeit sein Zuhause nennt.

Hailing from North Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada, “Gully” loves being out and about on a bike. In his own “Gully style” he always succeeds in motivating the people around him. When asked which mountain bike discipline he prefers, he responds, “As long as my heart holds out for the race and I can have fun on my bike, I honestly don’t have any specific preference – the main thing is just being out there on the bike.” Gully is a successful rider and during his career has secured a plethora of wins all around the globe. “My greatest success of all was grasping the opportunity to turn my passion into a professional career and consequently inspire others to do the same.” Check out what Gully packs when he gets out to play. Over the years, Rachel Atherton has become the major player in women's downhill racing. After winning a host of categories in 2005, she was named Times Young Sportswoman of the Year and hasn’t looked back since. In the last few years, Rachel has done nothing but go from strength to strength. Since 2008, she has taken four UCI World Cup titles (2008, 2012, 2013 and 2015), and three World Champion titles – including a hat-trick of “doing the double”. Only overwhelming illness during the 2014 season put Rachel off her game; but she bounced back, and reclaimed the World Cup title in 2015 after consecutively winning six of seven races in the season, followed up by a UCI elite women’s World Champion downhill title. Rachel looks set to continue to dominate the world’s podiums, proving that she is arguably the best female Downhill Mountain Biker on the planet! Check what Rachel packs for a World Cup win!
