Welcome… Dear Goat Run Athletes, supporters and friends, Selamat datang and welcome to Goat Run Trail Running Series 2016, the first trail running series race in Indonesia. After our 2 last series, we are excited to welcome you on our 3rd series Mount Raung.

We also want you to know that by participating in this race event, you have help us empowering local communities and the people who lives around the mountains. We realize that through this event, we can make the most difference for locals. And we are fortune to do so.

Trail running have become one of the most developing and growing sport category in the world as well as in Indonesia. And it has began to be the spotlight in the running community in Indonesia. With this growth come new opportunities for runners, business and regions fortunate to be blessed by trails.

To each runner who signed up for the first time this going to be challenging experience! We would like to thank you for stepping up to the challenge. You have done the hard work with your training, diet, overcoming injuries, staying healthy as well as balancing work, family and friends just to get to the start-line.

Goat Run Trail Running comes with love from a justordinary runner who loves trail running and exploring the beauty of mountains in Indonesia. Not to mention, ambitiously to organized a race event that can provide pleasant experience for the participants. We believe, that trail running is the most basic primal instinct in every human being, giving its own freedom and satisfaction on their curiosity by relying on one thing, the human foot.

Race day is your chance to unleash, to show us what you’re made of and to give it everything. To those of you tackling your first trail running – congratulations! You are in for an amazing, unforgettable and emotional experience. To those runners who have been in the trail running races before – welcome and we bet you’re going to set your target faster and more enjoyable.

Goat Run sees that Mountains in Indonesia have big potential to become an adventure and sport tourism destination in Asia and in the world through Trail Running. Along with that, Goat Run is fully committed to flourish and support trail running in Indonesia. We seek new potential runner who will participate in the world class Trail Running race representing Indonesia. Goat Run Trail Running Series 2016 will be held in 4 different locations. The mountain that we select have similarity of steep and technical course but at the same time will pampered you with its unique beauty of its own. This race will test your physical and mental strength to accomplished the race in a tight Cut Off Time. Bringing Mt. Guntur in Garut to open the series, move to Mt. Merapi in Yogyakarta, Mt. Raung in Banyuwangi, and will end in Mt. Agung in Bali.

Race day is on Saturday 27th of August. Be part of it. Spread the vibe on social media. RACE INFO Goat Run Trail Running Series will be held in Kalibaru, the a small hill town of Kalibaru (428m) located at the road from Jember to Banyuwangi, winds around the foothills of Gunung Raung, through rainforest and coffee plantation. The start of the race will be located at Wonorejo villages, the most commonly known as the basecamp for Mount Raung Hiking path. Its only 4.5km (or 15 minutes by Ojek) from Kalibaru Train Station. The course will start from the Wonorejo Balai Desa goes directly trough coffee plantation and goes into the trekking path. The highest summit for Mount Raung called “Puncak Sejati” and is known as the most technical summit in Java as its required climbing skill and equipment. Our race check point for runner will be located at Bendera Summit, few hundreds meter below Puncak Sejati. Accommodation We really want to bring the economic value to Wonorejo villages during the event. We re working with villagers to provide homestay at walking distance to the Race Central. We have sent Newsletter to your email regarding the accommodation, Please confirm to us if you need homestay in Wonorejo. For those who preferred to stay at the hotel you can find them in Kalibaru. Victory can also help to arrange transport to Surabaya or to Bali. Call him for more details - Arrival at Kalibaru: you can grab Ojek (motorcycle taxi) available 24 hours at Kalibaru Train Station. RACE INFO Race Day When : Saturday, 27 August 2016 | 6am Race Start For runner who stay at Kalibaru Baru hotel please leave from the hotel at 5AM as the journey will take 15 – 34 minutes depending your hotel location. For runner who stay near Banyuwangi airport, it will took 1 – 1.5 hours to the race central. Clothing/Equipment Considering the condition of the course, all runner are advise to provide the following gear : • Trail running shoes. • Water Proof Jacket • Emergency Blanket • Headlamp or flashlight • Running vest or backpack • Personal medicine • Water tank or bottle containing at least 1.0 liters of water • Mobile phone with Medical Crew Number saved in its address book to be able to make emergency calls

BIB Numbers This BIB number it is issued personally per participant and nontransferable. Any runners that proven transferring BIB numbers to other runner and that BIB number used by other person is finishing or winning the race, he/she will not be granted point series and not entitle for the prizes.

Timing Unfortunately, we cannot provide with electronic timing chip for the race but we will make sure our marshal record your timing accurately. Water Station and Check Point There are 3 water station along the course. Check point are located in between WS with marshals to monitored runner safety. Please note we don’t provide water or food at the check point. Although we don’t applied Cut Off Time at check point Puncak Bendera, if by 3PM participants who are not arrived at WS3 it is advised to returned back to the finish line. Course Markings The course of GRTR will be marked with signposts, barrier tape, flags stick to the ground, and Ribbon by an experienced and competent team. Form and shape of the signposting will be share during the race briefing session. This, however, does not guarantee a continuously marked course especially after heavy rain, in case of fog or mist or other adverse weather conditions, markings can disappear, be covered up, or not be visible in time. That is why participants have to carry with them the detail map, and altitude profiles of the course.

RACE INFO Time Penalties And Disqualifications The organizer reserves the right to disqualify participants or impose time penalties between 5 and 120 minutes due to following matters: • Disregard of the directives of the race and course director, rescue director, or officials at course. • Littering/polluting the environment • Unfair behavior or misconduct toward other competitors • Failing to help a person in danger • Health problems of a participant • Doping • Deliberately taking shortcuts • Tampering with BIB number. This is a list of examples and by no means to be understood as complete! Participants that are disqualified from the race cannot claim reimbursement from the organizer. Withdraw from the race Participants that decide to withdraw from the race for whatever reason (i.e. exhaustion, injury) must inform the race organizers immediately by calling the provide number printed on the BIB. Finish • The official results of the race are determined in the finish. • Changing weather or trail conditions may command the race and course director to change the cutoff times accordingly. For their own safety, participants that do not make the cut off times (e.g. from 14.00) will officially be taken out of the race. • Participants who have been taken out of the race by the race director, course director, the personnel at the check points, or arrive at the finish not under their own power but some means of transportation, will not appear in the official ranking and will be no more finisher.

Environmental Protection/Nature Do not drop rubbish at Aid Stations or on the trails. Rubbish bags are provided at all Water Station. Anyone caught deliberately littering may be disqualified from this race and banned from future events. If you will generate waste on the run, please use a small ziplock bag to stash your trash and carry it with you. If you need to poo or pee on the mountains please step away from sight (25 meters) and very far from waterways. Bury any waste by digging a deep hole with the heel of your shoe. Completely bury all waste. Etiquette You will be sharing these trails with hikers, campers and farmers. Please make sure you move off the trail to allow these other users to pass by. When passing slower runners, please indicate that you’d like to pass by saying passing on your left (or right) when overtaking. Don’t over taking on the single track section, there will be plenty area with open space for you to pass runner in front of you! Race Safety Please take care of both yourselves and the other competitors on the course. If someone needs help, please stop and help them. There will be a safety crew at the race as indicated on page 8. Some volunteers hold first aid qualifications. Safety staff will have radio communications with the Race Director and Safety Manager in case of an emergency.

1. Ensure your BIB Number, different color indicates category you participate in. 2. Ensure your information in the back of your BIB number is correct

RANKING SYSTEM These are the following categories to compete in: • Open : apply for all ages below 40 years old • Master: apply for all ages above 40 years old. The minimum number of participants in each category is 20 and if the minimum number of participants in a given category is not sufficient the category will be included into the overall category. For example : if only 18 person registered on the Master Category, then all of the runner will automatically include into the open category and vice versa.

The points system are applied on 2 basic principles: • Finisher points: each runner who finishes a race scores finish points according to the race’s classification (see below) • Performance points: each runner will score additional performance points according to his/her ranking in the official result of the race and according to a fixed table (see the table on below)

The ranking system is apply to all categories and is weighted based on Goat Run Trail Running Races system to give a fair and valid judgment for runners. Points 100 50 =number of kilometers (for example 10k race equal to 10 points and so on).

SAFETY INFORMATION Medical Support

Most Common Risk at Raung

We try our best to on providing quality medical care to all participants and supporters. The following medical services are provided:

Blistered and falling due technical and narrow course.

• Finish line medical treatment areas available at the race central / finish line, equipped with emergency ambulance. This station are staffed by doctors and nurses • On-course event we will only provide first aid kit.. • Emergency evac located at POS 1 or KM 6. Motorcycle taxi or Ojek are standing by to take any injured runner to the race central/ Although medical and other personnel will assist you when possible, remember that you are ultimately responsible for your own wellbeing on the trail. Only you will know how your body and mind feel at any given time. Monitor yourself during the entire run, and prepare yourself to drop out at the nearest checkpoint if you find it just isn’t your day.

75% of the course will be single track, some with narrow ridges and technical route such as roots, rocks or holes. Please make sure control your pace during technical section.

On your way to the summit, the terrain will consist of loose dirt and rocks, manage your steps and slow down on the descend. Be aware of runner above you for falling rocks. Fast runner are advise to carefully to see their steps and avoid making unnecessary pressure to the ground.
