The B Street Women’s Ministry Christmas Luncheon, “Experiencing Grit and Gratitude,” will be held on Thursday, December 15, from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM. Rev. Laura Bratton will be the guest speaker. The cost is $12 per person. Visit the church website to register (www.bsumc.info/women), or visit the Sanctuary lobby on December 4 and 11. Childcare will be available. The Nominations and Leadership Development Committee, at the request of the Buncombe Street Board of Trustees, has been asked to nominate a Disaster Preparedness and Response Team. The team will be responsible for creating a comprehensive disaster response plan for our church. We are looking for church members to serve as resources to this team. If you have experience or expertise in disaster response planning, and are interested in being involved, please contact Stacy Phillips ([email protected]; 864-371-6084) by the end of December. The Archives Committee needs your help locating bound books missing from the Archives Room that contain church bulletins. The missing years are: 1960, 1961, 1966, 1971, and 1973. The books are approximately the size of a hymnal, and are solid black on the front and back, with gold lettering on the spine, with the wording “BSUMC,” “Greenville,” and the year. Additionally, there is only partial data for 1956-57. If anyone has bulletins from that year, the Archives Committee would be happy to have them. Contact Stacy Phillips in the church office if you have any information (864-371-6084). Join in the Sprouts Bags of Blessings ministry. For $15, a bag filled with toiletries, school supplies, clothing items, and healthy snacks will be given to a needy Greenville County child. Purchase bags from the church office. To give a bag in honor of or in memory of someone, complete a dedication form found at the security kiosks or Sanctuary lobby information desk. Turn in the form along with your donation by December 4. Please remember that on Sundays, the College Street/Scout Hut parking lot is reserved exclusively for our elderly and physically-challenged worshipers. We appreciate your consideration of their special needs. Please direct year-end stock giving to BSUMC Brokerage Account # J87000001 or DTC number 0226, and advise Nancy Gobble (864-371-6087) in the church office when your donation is made so that we may properly identify and credit your contribution statement. For further assistance in making a stock donation, you may contact J. Scott Davis of Wagner Wealth Management ([email protected]; 864-787-6308). Attention, Women. Mark your calendar for the 2017 Women’s Retreat scheduled next February. For complete details, visit the church website (www.bsumc.info/2017-womens-retreat).

Join your church family for this year’s exciting Creative Christmas classes to be offered on Wednesday, November 30. There will be five classes: a glass angel ornament class, a Christmas cards class, a Christmas brunch cooking class, a Christmas wreath class, and a painting class.

Electronic registration along with class details are available on the website (www.bsumc.info/creative-christmas). Contact Tom Buchanan (864-373-6461, [email protected]). Please respect the sanctity of each worship service. Silence cell phones or paging devices, and refrain from using flash photography.

“A Blessed House Should Bless Others” 1 Timothy 6:17-19

Dr. Gilreath

This is the first sermon in a five-part series entitled “Christmas Hope.” This Christmas season, most of us will find ourselves in the comfort of a warm home, filled with good food, great company, and lots of gifts. But that’s not the case for everyone. In America alone, there are over 45 million people living below the poverty line, and over half a million who have no home at all. During Jesus’ ministry, he spent a large portion of his time reaching out to the poor and needy. This Advent series discusses how to extend our homes and the blessings God has given us with those who are less fortunate Following the message, people are available at the kneeling bench to offer prayers with you. You may also write your prayer and nail it to the cross.
