The Sandy Amphitheater Announces its 2012 Summer Concert Season The Sandy Amphitheater once again brings some of the best names in music to Utah for its 2012 concert season. Highlights of concerts include Olivia Newton-John, Glen Campbell and his “Goodbye Tour,” Bruce Hornsby and The Noisemakers, country music sensation Easton Corbin and the Elton John, Tim Rice musical AIDA. Individual tickets go on sale Monday, May 7 at all Smith’sTix outlets and online at sandyarts.com. National Acts •

Blood, Sweat and Tears, June 1- A musical institution, BS&T has left an indelible mark on the American music scene since 1968. One of the greatest horn bands in the history of popular music, BS&T’s alumni roster reads like a Who’s Who of the greatest jazz and rock musicians. “You've Made Me So Very Happy,” “Spinning Wheel,” “And When I Die,” and “Hi-De-Ho.” This band gives a night of music you will never forget.

Bruce Hornsby and The Noisemakers, Aug. 31- By any standard, three-time Grammy Award-winner Bruce Hornsby has built one of the most diverse careers in contemporary music. Drawing from a vast wellspring of American musical traditions. Hornsby and his longtime band The Noisemakers come to the Sandy Amphitheater in support of their latest CD Bride of The Noisemakers. Olivia Newton-John, Sept. 7- The Sandy Amphitheater presents Grammy-Award winning singer Olivia Newton-John for a sparkling summer night of hits spanning over 40 years. BYU Ballroom Dance Company, May 31- Championship formation dancing, breathtaking lifts and spins–all performed in a seemingly endless stream of shimmering costumes—no one does it better than the BYU Ballroom Dance Company. The dances include, waltz, samba, foxtrot and hustle. They have traveled throughout Europe, the Middle East, the South Pacific, and the US.



Ryan Shupe and the RubberBand, June 8- Known for their live shows and spontaneous, creative jams, the RubberBand is a breath of fresh air in an age where much of the music is over-produced. Their organic approach to performing has built quite a following. They are always fun just pickin’ and grinnin’ through their mix of bluegrass, country, rock and jazz.



Club Manhattan, June 15- Fascinating rhythms will be ‘on tap’ at Club Manhattan. Featuring SLC Tap directed by Debby Robertson. A homage to the great jazz nightclubs of a bygone era with dazzling tap, soulful vocalists and a swinging classic jazz ensemble. Paul Cardall & Lyceum Philharmonic, June 16- Five time Billboard charting recording artist Paul Cardall has inspired people worldwide as a songwriter, composer, and performer. Cardall’s latest album titled “New Life” debuted at #1 on Billboard’s top new age chart ahead of Yanni, Enya, and other prominent instrumental artists.



The Piano Guys Live, July 14- Jon Schmidt and Steven Sharp Nelson team up to present some of the most popular music in a smash up style all their own. Eclipse, July 21- After multiple Southeast Asian tours, internationally sought after Eclipse returns to the Sandy Amphitheater to bring their signature sound featuring tight harmonies, driving percussion, and infectious energy home to Utah! Rockin’ the Decades, Sept. 8- Decades is a live, fast-paced stage show that brings to life the history of rock and popular music. Featuring amazing musicians and vocalists, costume changes, choreography, and synchronized video. The show is non-stop entertainment. Travel through time with medleys from each decade of music, ending your journey with today’s top hits.

Sandy Arts Guild Musical AIDA, Aug. 10-18- a contemporary musical take on a grand classic tale of the timeless bond between an enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian soldier. As forbidden love blossoms between them, the young lovers are forced to face death or part forever. Elton John and Tim Rice weave a pop-rock score that features stirring ballads, rousing choral numbers and exuberant dancing. Not presented on Sunday, August 12. Free-For-All concerts A series of free concerts are held on various nights throughout the summer with no tickets required. Come early for the best seat. American West Symphony, June 28 Sandy’s own community orchestra, American West Symphony comes to the Amphitheater for its annual summer Pops Concert.
