Let’s Talk Transit – Survey Results

Recommendation:

THAT ENG-020-16 be received.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report summarizes results from a combined on-board and online survey conducted for two (2) weeks, May 9 - 21, 2016. Entitled “Let’s Talk Transit,” the survey solicited both customer and non-customer commentary about Milton Transit conventional services to achieve a better understanding of service need, expectation and image/ perception. With support from day-to-day public input and 2013-2017 Milton Transit Master Plan recommendations, survey feedback will contribute to the assessment of existing services and help prioritize service planning initiatives for consideration by Council during the annual budget process. A total of 869 survey responses were collected; 472 in manual format and 397 in online format. Common customer response themes focused on service-related requests, including: continued service growth, higher service levels / frequency, extended service availability into evenings/weekends and greater service area coverage. Several qualitative responses illustrated requests for improved service reliability and more convenient fare payment methods (i.e. PRESTO). Non-user responses highlighted similar service request themes as a means to entice transit use, as well as commentary associated with appropriateness of bus size / surplus capacity, service effectiveness and financial sustainability. Key Findings 1. Evidence of service loyalty, usage and growth potential • 48% of respondents use conventional services consistently for two (2) years or more; 35% of respondents are newer users, riding Milton Transit for less than two (2) years • 77% of respondents use Milton Transit consistently for three (3) or more days per week • 53% of respondents use Milton Transit on weekdays only, while 46% use Milton Transit on weekdays and Saturdays

2. Fare programs consistently used; discounted GO Transfer cash co-fare payment successful but exact fare required not convenient • 54% of respondents indicated that Milton Transit fare media (tickets and passes) were used as primary method of payment; 44% use cash fares • Of all fare media users, 59% of respondents purchase monthly passes, indicating consistent and frequent service usage • Of all cash fare users, 60% of respondents use the discounted co-fare cash payment for the GO Fare Integration program • Most common open-ended request related to service improvements to entice further Milton Transit use was the introduction of the PRESTO farecard system for added convenience of fare payment 3. Main trip purposes include employment, school, and shopping trips; GO Transit connections remain important • Most respondents are regular passengers travelling primarily to/from work, school and shopping activities • Non-users of Milton Transit express need for better connections with GO Transit services 4. Evidence that respondents have alternative transportation options • 70% of respondents indicate the ability to use other modes of transportation (e.g. car, bicycle, walking, taxi, ride sharing, etc.) in replacement of transit 5. Operational and customer service satisfaction highly rated; areas for improvement include service level and service growth initiatives • 76% of survey respondents indicated that they were satisfied (rating of good or excellent) with overall existing service • A majority of indices related to service delivery and provision were positive, including: passenger safety/security, bus cleanliness and operator customer service • When offered an opportunity to identify service improvements, the most popular responses were service request-related: extended hours of operation into the evenings, higher frequency and service on Sundays 6. Potential opportunity with current non-users of Milton Transit; others expressed dissatisfaction with resource allocation for service delivery • 16% of respondents have never used Milton Transit services, yet more than 1/3 of open-ended comments from non-users expressed interest in using Milton Transit • Most prominent reasons for not taking transit include: preference to driving, requirement of a car for employment, current transit service level/coverage not adequate • Some non-users also commented on financial viability/sustainability of Milton

Transit services, while 3% of total survey respondents (13% of non-user respondents) provided commentary on bus-size appropriateness and perceived capacity surplus (i.e. observation of empty buses) REPORT Background Staff administered an onboard and online survey from May 9 – 21, 2016 to investigate and measure customer travel behaviour, service satisfaction, loyalty and areas/ priorities for Milton Transit system improvement. The online survey also solicited input and commentary from non-users of Milton Transit. In order to garner relevant feedback from non-users, supplementary questions in the online survey were dynamically included based on responses/selections from previous questions (Appendix 1: Survey Question Decision Tree; Appendix 2: Survey Questions). Paper copies of the survey were distributed onboard Milton Transit buses in service, while the online survey was available on the Milton Transit website (www.miltontransit.ca). A total of 869 survey responses were collected; 472 in manual format and 397 in online format. Responses from both survey formats were analyzed using Survey Monkey analytics. The survey was communicated and promoted though a number of channels: Pre-Survey • Media release • Advertisement in Canadian Champion • Boosted social media posts via Facebook and Twitter • Websites (Town and Transit sites); home page banners, web pages, news postings • Posters at Town facilities and on buses • Come Play e-newsletter (484 subscribers) • Email messaging / posters disseminated to older adult audiences: o Martindale Residence o Birkdale Residence o Marian Courtyard o Seasons Retirement Home o Milton Seniors’ Activity Centre • Email notification to Council members Post Survey • Media release • Website content • Social media postings

With support from ongoing public comments and 2013-2017 Milton Transit Master Plan recommendations, survey feedback will contribute to the assessment of existing service quality to contribute to the prioritization of future service initiatives for consideration by Council during budget deliberations. Discussion Indices used for the onboard and online survey addressed specific measures to gauge service need, quality and customer / non-customer expectations for Milton Transit conventional services. The survey had the following key assessment themes: • • • • •

Customer travel patterns, behaviour and loyalty Perception of service performance Service satisfaction levels Non-User travel behaviour and preference Identification of service priorities

The following sections provide a summary of key results and findings. A detailed report of quantitative and qualitative / open-ended survey responses can be found in Appendix 3: Survey Results. 1. Transit Use – Service Loyalty Milton Transit service loyalty was measured by including survey questions related to passenger longevity and frequency of transit use. • • •

• •

48% of respondents use conventional services consistently for two (2) years or more; 35% of respondents are newer users, riding Milton Transit for less than two (2) years. 77% of respondents use Milton Transit for three (3) or more days per week: o 55% 5-6 days a week o 22% 3-4 days a week Cross referencing the term of loyalty to the frequency of use per week depicts a positive relationship; the longer the passenger has used Milton Transit, the greater frequency of use: o Respondents using Milton Transit for two (2) years or more represent approximately 53% of the passengers using transit 5-6 days a week. Responses indicate that frequent service users are choosing to make Milton Transit one of their preferred mode choice, as the system continues to develop and mature. Results also depict that there is a fairly even response distribution between weekday and weekday + Saturday service use:

• •

Report #: ENG-020-16 Page 5 of 10

o 53% use service on weekdays only o 46% use service on weekdays and Saturdays Notwithstanding service type, level or effectiveness, these responses support some demand for services outside of traditional weekday purposes. Service level and frequency requests ranked high in open-ended responses; including requests for more frequent service on weekdays (1) and later service into the evening (2).

2. Fare Payment Methods Survey inquiries related to fare payment provide an understanding of respondent distribution. While not statistically representative, survey responses do provide general inferences related to trip frequency, fare media sales / accessibility of ticket agents and ease of use. • •

54% of respondents indicated that Milton Transit fare media (tickets and passes) are used as primary fare payment, while 44% use cash. Of all respondents who use Milton Transit fare media, 59% purchase and use monthly passes. This finding aligns with transit use themes where most respondents are frequent riders of the Milton Transit system; leveraging an increasingly discounted rate based on trip-quantity during the month. Of all respondents indicating that cash fares are their primary method of payment, 60% use the discounted co-fare cash payment for the GO Fare Integration Program. The most common open-ended request related to service improvements to entice further Milton Transit use, was the introduction of the PRESTO farecard system. Respondents highlighted convenience issues related to the requirement of exact change for cash fares or buying an additional monthly GO Transfer pass – particularly for those who already carry PRESTO for GO Transit and participating GTHA municipalities and have subsequent access to online / kiosk card loading. It is important to note that PRESTO implementation was also identified in the open-ended responses at the end of the survey, ranked eighth.

3. Trip Purpose Respondents were asked to identify and prioritize their most frequent trip purpose (top three). • •

Based on total survey responses, the primary purpose for taking Milton Transit is travel to/from a place of employment. The top three (3) trip purposes, include: 1) Employment; 2) Shopping; and 3) Scheduled Appointments. With reference to trip frequency, the top three (3) trip purposes made most “often” include: 1) Work; 2) School; and 3) Shopping.

The Corporation of the TOWN OF MILTON •

Report #: ENG-020-16 Page 6 of 10

27% of respondents indicated that the purpose of their most frequent trip was commuting to/from their place of employment. This observation continues to emphasize the importance of serving local and regional employment areas with varying shift times. However, further investigation is required to better understand the needs of the employment community, labour force location and subsequent non-traditional off-peak activities. Open-ended responses also highlight service needs to address employment markets in Milton. 17% of respondents indicated that the purpose of their trip was shopping-related, and 15% stated their trip was appointment-related. Without any recent emphasis on route changes to accommodate shopping and/or appointment-related trips, this observation maintains the continued importance of serving various markets and destinations to provide a basic level of passenger mobility. 11% of respondents indicated that the purpose of their trip was school-related, supported by the School Special routes offered. These routes have been implemented over the past year to accommodate additional service demand/ capacity on routes during high school arrival and dismissal periods.

4. Choice of Travel The identification of service dependency was garnered through survey inquiries about alternative modal choices in replacement of transit. It was illustrated that a majority of respondents are choice riders. • •

70% of respondents could have used other forms of transportation, including: walking, biking and taking a taxi, or a ride sharing service. 21% of respondents indicated that they could use a single occupancy vehicle as an alternative to Milton Transit services. o 71% of respondents have two (2) or more licensed drivers in their household. o 88% of respondents have one (1) or more vehicles in their household. 7% of respondents specified that there were no other forms of transportation available to them other than Milton Transit services. However, a further assessment and representative analysis would be required to determine the extent of passengers that may be fully dependent on transit services.

5. Customer Satisfaction / Areas of Improvement / Service Requests Operational metrics were analyzed to evaluate and identify common customer satisfaction indices and areas for improvement. Responses included “poor,” “fair,” “good” or “excellent” rating choices. Overall service ratings were assessed based on the following categories: o On-time performance/service reliability

The Corporation of the TOWN OF MILTON o o o o o o o o o o o o o o • •

Report #: ENG-020-16 Page 7 of 10

Service frequency Hours of operation Travel time Cost of bus fares Connections with GO Train service Connections with other Milton Transit routes Availability of maps and schedule information Accuracy of customer service information Customer service (operators) Customer service (other staff) Bus cleanliness Safety and security Accessibility for persons with disabilities Overall service

73% of survey respondents indicated that they were satisfied (rating of good or excellent) with the overall existing service of Milton Transit. Generally, all indices reported “good” to “excellent” ratings from respondents, with the highest rated elements as follows: 1) Safety and security; 2) Bus cleanliness; 3) Customer service – operators; 4) Accessibility for persons with disabilities; and 5) Availability of maps and schedule information. These results highlight the positive level of service provided by PWTransit, meeting the needs of customers within the current service delivery format implemented. The following elements ranked lowest, identifying potential service requests and/or areas for service improvement: 1) Hours of operation; 2) Cost of bus fares; 3) Service frequency; 4) Connections with other Milton Transit routes; and 5) Connections with GO Trains. These results, supported by open-ended responses throughout the survey, recognize that the limited hours of operation, particularly in the evenings, are potentially restricting the ability for customers to fully utilize Milton Transit. Service frequency is commonly cited as an area for improvement as well. Further analysis of increased services and subsequent route prioritization will be required and considered in future service planning and implementation. As service continues to mature, it is expected that the perception of a high bus fare would be balanced with the perception of greater service value, as outlined by 15 respondents citing that a higher service level would make the fare more justified.

The survey also asked respondents to rate specific areas of improvement to entice increased ridership. In general, respondents recognize the potential impact of improved service as a means to target strategic markets and ridership growth. •

The highest rated areas of improvement include: 1) Later service into the evening; 2) More frequent service on weekdays; 3) Service on Sundays; 4)

Report #: ENG-020-16 Page 8 of 10

Lower transit fares; and 5) Connections to/from Mississauga / Brampton. Similar to the satisfaction ranking of the current services, later evening service ranks as the top service improvement requested in open-ended responses, with increased service frequency rated second. Introduction of services on Sunday remains a common theme in respondent feedback, requesting service options for various travel accommodations (e.g. religious/spiritual activities, hospital visits, library visits, and sporting activities, etc.). Connections to neighbouring municipalities are a common request for service improvement. Further assessment and evaluation would be required to understand the market for cross-boundary travel with an appropriate service delivery model.

6. Non-Users of Milton Transit Upon survey development, opportunities to include feedback from non-users of Milton Transit were important to achieve a balanced understanding of service expectation and image/perception. Comments were solicited via the online survey. Responses from nonusers can promote areas of service improvement to trigger ridership growth. • •

16% of respondents have never used Milton Transit, yet more than 1/3 of nonusers expressed interest in using Milton Transit in open-ended comments. Some non-users commented on the financial viability/sustainability of Milton Transit services, while 3% of total survey respondents (13% on non-user respondents) provided commentary on bus-size appropriateness and perceived capacity surplus (i.e. observation of empty buses). Further open-ended responses elicited themes on the benefits of Milton Transit service, along with service requests; such as local businesses benefiting from clients accessing Milton Transit, and increased service demand to promote and maintain independence. Additional service requests from non-users include: more direct routes, increased coverage, service reliability, service efficiency and service connections to surrounding municipalities.

Reasons for Not Using Milton Transit Services •

The following were the highest ranked reasons for not taking Milton Transit: o I own a car and prefer to drive o I need a car for my job or after work/school activities o Travel times are too long on the bus o There is no bus service when I need to travel Rankings for owning a car and preference to drive, and needing a car for their employment will not likely change with increased transit service levels (e.g.

The Corporation of the TOWN OF MILTON

Report #: ENG-020-16 Page 9 of 10

extending operating hours, increased service frequency, etc.). However, increasing service levels would typically address reasons 3 and 4 by reducing travel times and offering service when required. Additionally, after work/school activities could be serviced by extending operating hours, making it possible for customers to return home before end of service.

Familiarity of Milton Transit Services •

A majority of respondents claim that they are not familiar with available services offered by Milton Transit. While it is difficult to depict a relationship between service familiarity and potential use, the outcome does reinforce the continuous need for instituting a variety of marketing and communication vehicles to a number of audiences. Approximately 85% of all non-user respondents are not familiar with transit information, yet the top ranked response under “very familiar” was identifying the “Milton Transit bus stop closest to your home.” This response may suggest the importance of transit-related infrastructure development (e.g. bus stops, shelters, schedule information, accessible pads, etc.) as a means to strengthen Milton Transit brand awareness, establish service commitment and enhance the user experience/accessibility.

Areas of Improvement •

• •

The highest ranked areas of improvement by non-users of Milton Transit were: o Better connections to/from major destinations in Milton o Shorter travel times o More direct bus routes o Better connections with GO Transit o Bus transfers (e.g., multiple trips using the same transfer, which could include returning to your starting point) Responses indicate that there is potential interest in services that focus on inTown transit destinations as well as GO Transit connections. When responses from users and non-users are combined, the highest ranked areas of improvement include: o Later service into the evening o More frequent service on weekdays o Service on Sundays o Connections to/from Mississauga/Brampton o Lower transit fares Responses are in line with the common theme of increased level of service and increased frequency as the highest ranked areas for improvement.

The Corporation of the TOWN OF MILTON

Report #: ENG-020-16 Page 10 of 10

GO Transit Use • 55% of non-user respondents indicated that they travel to the Milton GO Station by car to connect with a GO Train; 14% are dropped off at the kiss-and-ride location. • Non-user responses to preferred GO Train departure and arrival times are fairly evenly distributed. Therefore, any possible inference of ridership catchment to entice further GO commuters via Milton Transit, would require servicing a majority of all GO Train arrival and departure times. Summary and Next Steps Survey respondents provided key messages of continued growth, improved services, greater frequency, greater fare value and extended operating hours into the evenings and on weekends (including Sundays). Staff will identify themes and inferences from the onboard and online survey for further review, assessment and incorporation into service plans. Growth and improvement programs will be identified in future service planning initiatives and the budget process.

Financial Impact There are no financial impacts associated with this report. Any inference to transit service level additions/priorities will be considered by Council during the annual Capital and Operating Budget process. Respectfully submitted, M. Paul Cripps, P. Eng. Let's Talk Transit! Milton Transit Survey

Submission Deadline: Sat, May 21 Submit for your chance to win a Fitbit!

Milton Transit is interested in your opinions and ideas about how we deliver transit services in our growing community. Your input will help us serve your needs and those of your fellow residents to reach school, work, play and leisure destinations. The survey will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete. The feedback from the survey will be used to support the development of a draft Service Plan, which will define service priorities. The draft plan will be available for comment at public input sessions taking place this summer. The final Service Plan will become an integral part of the budget process to set the stage for transit service delivery in 2017 and beyond. Open-ended Responses: More service should be offered please, more routes. PRESTO machine should be installed on all buses. Frequent GO Transit customers should be allowed to pay discounted co-fare before and after using the GO system regardless of how much time they spend at Milton GO. We already spend an arm and a leg on transit. Bus stop on Pringle removed. Should be put back. Bus should be at GO 5pm. Schedule is the biggest issue Can we get a transfer while using a GO Transfer pass? Just weekends especially Sunday services are needed and late night service is also highly required Connection with Mississauga and Brampton Stop exact change, give change If the Go Train is delayed, the corresponding bus should wait. Also, the fare paid should be valid for 2 hours at least like all other transits in other cities. Newcomer to Milton. No car, need to go out with my kids on Sundays please. Remove bus stop signs where grass is. Move them to the next concrete walkway. More bus shelters. More frequent service and connections to other cities We need later bus times for those who work late 9pm We need early transportation and Sunday / Holiday Overall, it's good service. Now need to improve coordination with GO Transit. PRESTO machines should be installed on buses. Would love connection to Brampton. So best bus service I've had. Friendly drivers! Some drivers need to get closer to curb to pick up passengers. Sometimes it's quite the leap to get on bus. more buses Needs Sunday Service and service to outlet mall, extended hours on evenings. I really need a service on Sunday to go to Church Excellent Increase no of ticket sale hours. Bus stop is over 1/2 km from our residence. Should be made near on route 8. Good services, high bus cost. More frequent weekday trips. Sunday service. We need new routes in new subdivisions. Should be both ways Childs Drive Love it!! Extend route 8 to Waherfind before cong on Farmstead, as 200 Senior families live there. At present bus stop is 1 1/2 km away. Bus 2 East to Walmart should be more on time especially during winter. Hoping to see more frequent service to and from Go station sooner Need frequent service and on Sunday too. Hours of operation should be 1/2 hr session through all. Some of the drivers are Roods, need management advice. More frequent buses to/from GO.

Please start late evening bus and Sunday bus Some drivers are always late and not as friendly as the rest. Excellent service. Would be better if more frequent during high hrs. Faster routes to/from go station with more frequent buses & introduction of payment via Presto and/or other tap methods. frequency: should be one at 5pm once GO train reaches Milton at 5:05pm Drivers: some need to start turning heat on when cold outside & lower a/c - too high sometimes Longer bus time at night for people that work late at night. Longer bus time at night till midnite Longer bus times at night Build shelters for the major stops. Terminal times every bus every 30 mins on the hr & 1/2 hr Schedule on time, special in winter time, and more shelter in teh bus stop. Doing an awesome job I hope for growth and just more frequent service. Satisfied with the service Keep up the good work Good Thank You! Bus at the weekend not only Sat also Sunday May I request that we have a schedule board for No. 5 (Yates) just like other buses at the Go Station. Excellent service Staff is amazing and always friendly and very helpful Its been 2 yrs ago I requested to have bus shelter along Farmstead drive & Derry, but until now its not been heared or granted. It would be great if you can give us shelter there for the students & workers. Thanks Frequency of service be increased. Fares high Let's keep Milton the best city! Route 8 like the 4 - need more FREQUENT service! Need more improvement about frequency The drivers are very friendly =) #7 bus need to come to the end of Dymott Please-one Milton Transit to Toronto Premier Outlet & one in the afternoon. (age 84) Should provide earlier morning service than 6:04am Please increase frequency Drivers are very helpful. Adherence to schedules terrible. Triplinx doesn't work properly. Input 470 Bronte St. S. - 181 Satok Cres (both Milton) it gave me route 2 & route 6. Service frequency depends on route 3&4 need 15 min service; longer hours of operation, need ticket booth at GO station for Milton Transit, accuracy of customer service depends on driver Should have later bus eg. 8:30pm running from Go Western Bound for #2 bus like we had 2 years ago. Scheduling is important for riders Excellent service so far! Keep up the good work! I am a veteran RCAC Milton Transit is necessary for seniors, disabled, students + workers bus come every 15 minutes Please start a Milton bus service on Sundays too. more on time service Very good Service frequency is POOR and i mean after 8 one is stranded. SAD SAD SAD later hrs Sunday + holiday service a must Simple service but nice with the passenger More time - move route. Better accessibility @ bus stop. Need longer hours

Bus should come on time. Will improve reliability of service -- faced some occasion when bus came before the scheduled arrival time. No!! :( Later evening times especially for Industrial I think the buses should run 1A/1B on weekdays until 6:30pm because I get off work at 6pm, Mon-Fri I feel Milton is growing needs later and services on Sunday even if once and hour. More places to buy tickets including the buses The bus drivers are very professional, very helpful. Always with a smile Need to run longer hr We need transit services every after 10-15 minutes. Sometimes if we miss the bus, we have to wait half an hour. Transfer can be used for 2 hrs. It should have time on it. The monthly passes and tickets should also be sold at the GO Station. Major hub GO Station opened hours of Milton & GO buses running. 1. It would be good to have buses longer 2. The last bus needs better route planning. When I take No.2, it takes me 3 minutes to get home (Maple & Main). With the last bus it's 30 minutes. Not fair. I would be better to have the bus running later in the evening better transfer Bus service in evenings and weekend service will help me in my savings. very good Thanks and be on time Bus times are sometimes skipped Milton Transit is great as well as staff. I suggest the 8 Willmott be more frequent. Drivers need a washroom in the buses station. Actually they use the washroom in the gas station and this issue causes delays. Need more frequent services all week I like the idea of real time updates Need complete shelter on Route 3 Trudeau Need Presto machines!! Overall good service and staff. Would like more direct routes & connection to GO. Bus Route on Main from Tremaine - to & from. Love your community involvement too! Schedules posted at bus stops should be updated within 2 or 3 days of changes. Sometimes takes months. Please operate the buses at least till 9pm Later service necessary. Connections to nearby cities (Mississauga) should be there. Its good just doesn't run enough or late enough Well the thought are same, Frequent Service on weekdays, service Sunday, holidays. Drives are very nice and understanding. Great service and people! I wish when their are a lot of people the big buses come. The service is very helpful. I don't know what I would do if it was not available. Drivers and car users are at work, others needs public transport. I am grateful thankful now for the service provided maybe even at a loss for no city gov't. Thanks to Milton gov't. I've been riding Milton Transit on average 2x day for the past 8 years. Drivers are excellent. As are the buses. No complaints. ** Lower transit fares Very expensive, and usually 3-5 minutes late. please try to reduce skipped times Improve service hours, frequency & connectivity to other cities/Towns. I am unable to attend functions on Sundays as there is no service. Excellent drivers, great customer service, never seen any other town with this level of excellence!

We have 100,000 plus and still growing in population - transit should be on par with Mississauga or Burlington by now. It would be more convenient On Saturday you have to wait an hour to switch busses at the GO and that's silly. More shelters provided with heaters. I hope for service on Sundays. Milton Transit should match with GO train in morning and evening. Having 3 buses arrive at the same stop at the same time means you have missed all the buses at once. Stagger the times (Main/Ontario stop) #4 line is too long I love taking the bus, very friendly drivers. They always put a smile on my face. I really enjoy the bus transit really nice staffs. If going to be late broken down or other situation, need to open communication. There should be a bus connected to every GO TRAIN! More buses leaving the station, especially on cold days. Thanks for asking I like it! Come on time more often and to lower prices. The service is bad for the price. We need Presto Card payments on the bus As a newcomer I look for more routes, service on Sudnays and Holiday. Thanks in advance Milton Transit has com a long way since the early days. Needs later service in evenings. More frequency. Should have some service on Sundays to facilitate travel on GO Transit. Missing connections with other city's is required There should be more one bus on a route Connection to neighbouring cities/town is of utmost importance. Always late in the evenings Would love their to be more connections to Mississauga instead of using GO transit. It's too expensive. Having later buses would be nice and maybe more frequent pickups during the day. connecting with Meadowvale Normal arrival at 8:50am should not require a 20 min wait for next departure at 9:10am Early morning Sat and Sun service late night service till 10:00pm Fare is too expensive. Would make sense to have transfer from any stop. Shouldn't have to go all the way to GO to complete trip. repair some bells/signals because they are broken - thanks more frequent Saturday service + transfers between buses Service times have improved could be better, drivers are great + helpful Keep up the good work more connection to the GO train. Wish it didn't cost so much. Busing and being a student don't match. Wish fares were smaller and buses came more often. Overall, customer service of the bus drivers are excellent. They are polite and friendly compared to the other cities. When it comes to later afternoon services, big delays or busses come earlier than scheduled. As someone with a lot of cards and no room for cash, always having change on me is a hassel and at times ends up being very inconvenient. From my experience of using the Presto service in both Oakville and Mississauga, transfers, fares and "double tap" (when paying for a friend) becomes so much simpler and more accessible. Milton Transit service need to connection to Mississauga Lisgar station and Connectio to Windson Churichil BRT station via HW407. A mobile app with real-time information would be useful. what we really need is a connection from Milton to Mississauga and vice versa, especially for university student of UTM (University of Toronto Mississauga) as there is no GO bus from Milton to UTM... and late night Milton transit for employee who works late and for students who have late classes

audible stop name read out and stop requests more connecfing buses to milton go bus carpool has excellent & polite drivers Good job :) Bus frequency needs to improve, also trying to let each bus (ex. Willmott 8) have east and west - multiuse of transfer paper - family (package tickets 6pp) - weekly bus to T.P.Outlet. Can you imagine it will be full. Milton Transit is amazing, just the old buses need some cleanliness and more frequent timings Looks like great service so hopefully as population and infrastructure continue to grow, so will the ease of use. More direct bus routes a MUST. YES to service to Outlets Get Presto bruh Later service hours!! Big time!! it should be on time. sometimes it didn't come on time. When I travel by GO bus from Mississauga to Milton Park 'n ride in day (non rush hour) I have NO CHOICE but to take a taxi from Park 'n ride to GO station to pick up my car (I use train in mornings). It costs $12.00+! it would be nice to have an option near park n ride, for Milton transit. Use to have #1 bus? Thank you :) nice to ride Presto fare units install on buses instead of cash fare as its convenient to tap the presto card instead of paying exact cash overall friendly service, would prefer more frequent timings and later evening service, and presto tap. update your schedules at bus stops PLEASE. We don't know it changes otherwise until were late for work. Your drivers are great Though. The bus passes are getting really expensive I was disappointed with the Scott schedule for having no service in the middle of 8:25am and 9:40am. It is very inconvenient and a very long interval. The previous schedule was better. Phone services should be available earlier & cater; morning school specials; better alignment to GO trains I want that Milton bus have to work sundays afternoon so people can go and come back from work more easily Add presto machines to your busses Please don't take away service from last GO train, as we may have to work late. Make the 6 more reliable & on time in evenings. 1a/b need to run on Saturdays and longer on weekdays need better service for the visually impaired. It's a great service and I think more people should use it. I would just like to see an improvement in FREQUENCY. If the industrial route 1a/1b routes ran thru out the entire day Service has improved the past year. more buses have made Route 6 more reliable. Don't take away service from the last GO train! We need it when we work late! Tank you for adding 1a/1b trips, it would help several of us from the Milton carpool if you added trips in the morning and afternoon Please lower the fare and start service for BR School. Wish to get a job in Milton Transit so don't need to use GO transit. This fare sucks the whole budget. Please introduce presto card system like (Presto) into the buses instead of discounted cash fare of $0.70 cents Better service for the North end of town Should have longer service times in the evening

Appreciate Saturday service- knowing it's Available, Appreciate minimal fare when transferring from GO transit to town bus. Suggest fare for seniors of $3 (the TTC seniors fare is $2) Use Transit only for work 1. was late to work once 2. bus did not show up - have to walk Route #2 It is a good service, but it should expand more and go later into the night, daily. When the buses are 10+ mins late, making me late, the bus drivers don't apologize. Going in right direction More frequent trips & time accuracy would be great! Bus route along Steeles (North side has no sidewalks). Unsafe walking with kids from corner @ Thompson/Steeles. More frequent service More frequent service required and lower transit fares We need more heaters at bus shelter area near metro :) Cam is the best :) :) :) The connections with GO Train aren't good. For half of the connections you have dedicated buses on the route, eg: Route #4. Otherwise the alternate buses (Cental, West, etc. ) they take a long time to reach the destination. Also, the bus connections are not dedicated with GO. I've missed umpteen times the bus as the 'GO Train' was late. The next bus then available is after 30 minutes, I've had real hard time waiting for 30 minutes for a 3 minute drive destination. Also, especially in winters, someone could die out there in cold. I don't find this trustworthy and lately I've begun to take my car for the trip. The option you had with Rideco was better (though it was expensive when compared to bus), but at least there is some mode of transport available. You need to have an integrated system showing real time arrivals and departures at each pick up and drop off point. Integrate the bus timing with real time GO train arrivals and departures and ensure a shorter ride bus (route #) is available for all trips. With Milton now a growing community, this is a must. If someone is sitting in a bus shelter the bus should stop. I was reading and didn't notice the bus approaching and it blew right past me. It was the last bus so I had to walk To have better service especially on a weekends (Sunday & holiday) Use early morning routes as well. Never see any customer service staff (other staff) I really hope you start services on Sunday because weekends are busy. great, accomodating, friendly drivers Very upset when cancelled last bus without notice. Had to take a cab (ie Central Bus) lost confidence on your service once :( More service on Route 4! Pretty good. But not good enough. I will like to have Sunday services at least a bus every hour connect with Presto card system, use presto on bus You guys are great! :) Make a stop closer to Main St on Savoline (bus 6) Please install bus shelters, School going children suffer a lot during bad weather waiting for their School buses. All I see is empty buses, even "peak" time the buses are virtually empty. So the main problem Milton Transit has is how does it increase ridership Please increase more buse on different school specials that can include new sub-divisions, otherwise, we students had to walk more that 30 min one way. Need more service to Oakville and Mississauga and a de-centralized model where not all buses must go to the Go Station. drivers excellent customer service Increase 1A/1B service; Martin, Woodward, Steeles, Ontario area buses are too loud inside, seats are not comfy :( The rideshare program was excellent, please implement permanently fare should be reduced, routes direct outlet mall route, later service more buses in Milton

Not sure why bus passes went up $7.00 but service hour did not.... :) You don't want to wait in a cold -30C winter morning but the bus does not show up It happened to me twice the bus just didn't show up at all Excellent service/drivers are friendly More travel times esp during evening trips and weekends. We do not need week-end service. Use the money to improve week-day service. Bus service on Heslop Rd does not need to be offered on weekends. VERY frustrating watching a LOUD empty bus going by all day,CUT this service BACK!! Summer coming it will get even worse for rider-ship I know there are issues with parking at the milton go station. In my opinion, the only way to get more users taking the bus is to have a bus waiting at the station for the ride back home for every single train. My commute when taking the train is 1.5 hrs door to door. I refuse to wait for a bus on my way home increasing my commute to 2 hrs. Due to this and the lack of parking, I am forced to drive down to the bronte go station. Most busses are empty or almist empty. Expanding current service not needed and would be waste of tax dollars. I really liked the RideCo service and would like it to return I understand Milon is small compared to Brampton/Mississauga and it is a challenge to provide the frequency as it is in big towns. Please integrate Go connect rides with Presto. I don't want to search for 70 cents cash or provide tickets for the same amount purchasable before hand online. I use GO transit during the day so how can I answer the question about using am GO service. Have a parking area on outskirts of urban Milton for rural residents to use service to hook into GO bus or trains Parking in urban Milton is too hard to find for all day parking. I feel this survey is skewed to urban Miltonians using GO TRAINS. I try to contact Milton transit and have yet to have a human response to enquiry this has happened at least 4 times. In uk, Scotland and other areas, seniors get to take all forms of transport free..if seniors can travel free there will be more usage and buses won't go by my home empty and seniors will be more socialized because they will be able to visit friends, shop, or use go train to go out of town and thus decrease social isolation, depression and decreased mobility and unsafe elderly drivers on the road. This is the time to be a standout community and help the seniors and reduce needless empty buses! Milton is a fast growing community, trains need to run more! Trains need to run in evenings and weekend to provide transportation to and from toronto. Milton Transit service needs to get with the times. As a commuter to Mississauga, why do your buses not connect with Mississauga buses. Are you considering connecting to the Mississauga transit way they are building? Not last time I heard. The congestion is heavy in Milton and there are absolutely no alternatives for getting around and connecting to Misissauga, why is that, Oakville does. I honestly think you guys have no idea how to run a bus system. It is unfortunate for all those people who rely on your service. I read a comment that your fares are even higher than Toronto's - really Milton???? Milton is wasting money as most buses run empty. Keep the rush hour buses running but CUT BACK on off peak times as well as cancelling Saturday service. An unecessary service for a suburban town. We're mostly drivers and the costs of subsidizing transit doesn't make sense.

239

Main concern is lack of ridership. buses passing my house a various times during the day are empty or have 1-2 passengers. Also see the bus sitting in front of Walmart and leave empty. If it's necessary to have as many routes and service as often as presently offered, perhaps smaller buses would work.

240

It's non-existent as far as I am concerned and given that Miltonis a commenter town we shouldn't be spending much of our tax dollars on this at all...providing a basic service for the elderly and infirm is necessary but that's it...this is a drivers town plain and simple

Please build a route to the Toronto Premium Outlet Mall as that is where most of the retail jobs are located for students like me and it would be a lot easier for me and a lot of other people to get there especially since I don't drive and it would save me about $25 one way by taxi to get there!! Please look into building a route that gets to the Toronto Premium Outlet Mall. Recently getting better with leaving at the scheduled time but I have experienced problems with busses leaving late

243

Invest in reliable efficient service while the town is still young. The rest will take care of itself. Subways...streetcars...now! Don't build 6 lane roads now...then 20 years from now start ripping it apart. Future transit investment now!

244

It's good but not enough busses during all day especially where the warehouses are and McDonald's on Martin and running up and down service a service at past N of Highpoint and south to Go Station but all the time not just am and pm

The transit service in Milton is something that I hardly ever consider using. I've lost a number of job opportunities because there are hardly any buses that travel along Steeles near the industrial area, and the ones that do seem to end very early. Also there aren't any buses that go in or out of Milton that connect to the Mississauga Transit or Oakville Transit systems which doesn't do most commuters any good (seeing as how most people commute OUT of the city.) The bus service would be used far more often if it gave people a means to get out of Milton, and ran routes in broader places; currently it seems the only places the bus will take you are the hospital, Walmart and the GO station. A slightly lower fare and more routes would ensure the increased use of the transit system I like your service. But it could be so much better. Thank you. Although frequency during late evenings and afternoon is an issue, it is still manageable. Try to have more buses during the 10-2 slot. Presently, it comes every hour around that time. Perhaps, every 30 min would be helpful. The main problem is that the bus is rarely there at the time it is scheduled for. I rely on it to reach somewhere on time but it screws up everything. At times, it comes earlier than the scheduled time. So do you want me to stand there 30 min before and after it is supposed to come to make sure I don't miss the bus? We drive because it takes forever to get from one point to another in Milton. No one would take an hour when they can drive the same distance in 15 minutes. I do not use it often because I don't know much about availability, and I don't always have exact change, or change at all. I used to work in Mississauga and use Presto on GO then have to walk from the GO station down Main to my home since I did not have cash on me and Milton doesn't take Presto. Territory needs to increase to include Oakville hospital Your question about GO Transit usage didn't have enough answers. I use GO Transit 10 or 12 times a year when I have to go to downtown Toronto (sporting events, concerts, business, etc). In general, I find it very upsetting as a Milton tax payer to see full size city buses driving around Milton all day empty. Outside of probably rush hour Monday to Friday, all of Milton's transit needs could be apparently accomplished with a fleet of mini-buses (12 to 20 passengers). I just think of all the wasted diesel fuel, and the cost of the special drivers with special licenses that it takes to drive the big buses. The solution that's in place in Milton right now is overkill, and is likely wasting my tax dollars. Milton is a town where everyone pretty much has a car, and no one is going to take the bus they way they do in Toronto. We have a TTC sized solution in Milton; that's got to be very wasteful. Please rationalize the solution to fit the requirement. Buses are to large, speeding on streets, none to few passengers on buses. Get presto as an immediate priority. Align bus departures with Go transit arrivals in the evening. Buses need to leave on schedule and not wait for transfers for one person at the expense of everyone else OR fix your route efficiencies to eliminate this issue Need Presto, pain to use change. Everytime I see a bus drive by it's usually empty...

Please stop trying to ram transit down out throats. Where it is not used just cancel the time of the bus and save the money. Why do we just have buses running around town empty. Please publish usage statistics so we all know what is being used or not used, publish online and in the Champion and communicate that unless the ridership goes up that route time will be eliminated. Use some common sense about this and any other service. i wish you would go down laurier, not just bronte and derry, to commercial and he slop. service was better years back Publish load factor. Ie. What percentage of seats are being used. All I see is tinted windows presumably because Milton transit doesn't want the taxpayers to know they are driving around, burning fossil fuel, contesting the roads and are 98% EMPTY. Find bus stops to pull off the road. Ie. Along Main Street east, they finally put parking spots in front of the stores instead of having cars stop in the right hand lane. But the bus stops in the lane instead of pulling off the side of the road where there should be a designated bus loading /unloading area. That is, of coarse, if there are any passengers. Please increase the frequency of buses so we do not have to waste time waiting at ho station after train arrives . More buses at more frequency . Otherwise please bring the ride go service back which was faster efficient and more reliable We need an independent third party audit with full disclosure to the taxpayers of the revenue and costs, ridership, busing contracts etc. associated with operating the transit system in Milton. All I ever see is gigantic buses with either no riders or 1-3 riders. As for the usual complaints about seniors needing to get to the library ...... buy a van and pick them up whenever they want to come and go from the library. And for the hard done by rural folks ..... move to the city ... why should the rest of the taxpayers fund your need for a bus or buses. Plain and simple, Milton is a bedroom / commuter town. Everyone has a car and they need one. Overall a great job and service in Milton As a taxpayer and non user of Milton transit, I am disturbed by the empty buses I see on a daily basis. Compare this to the GO train and Go buses. I suspect the lack of service connecting with the Go Buses at the 401 is part of the problem. To take a Milton Transit bus to the 401 Go Bus is absolutely horrible with connections etc. I think the students of this community would be better served with express service from the Go train station directly to connecting Go Buses. Maybe persede Go transit to stop in Milton instead of or in addition to the current bus hub at 401. There is a service disconnect between the two transit services. Sunday mornings would be the main day that I would use Milton transit. As well as late at night on weekdays. I would love if there were connections to Oakville every day of the week (particularly Sundays). Please, please, please do not cancel the early morning bus service at 4:30am!!!! I don't take it everyday but I do use it to get to the go bus for 7am meetings in Toronto. Also if you could have a bus departure and arrival timed with every GO train, that would be ideal but I realize thats a big request. While I don't use transit, many of my clients would be much better served if they were able to get around easier and faster as well as able to connect with other close by cities. Public transit in Milton is so very valuable & could become a huge asset in our community! TOO MANY EMPTY BUSES. I understand there are people who use transit in Milton, but more often than not the buses I see are empty. Something has to be corrected. Proper bus stop, please make shelter to protect rain, snow I don't know why you stopped the Rideco program, any user I talked to said is was an amazing service.

270

A massive waste of money. Buses are rarely full, and they clearly are in operation to appease (i.e. buy votes) from a particular segment of the population. Release the cost/profit of the system. No sane businessperson would ever operate this system. Stop wasting our money.

271

Better transit systems to the GO bus near the 401 bus stop for students in the mornings and afternoons/evenings. Express bus to GO train area by superstore. Likely would be popular based on the volume of students waiting at the GO stop by the 401.

Appendix 3 272 273

many times during the day,the bus on Heslop goes by,with no passengers.this would be off peak times,It makes sense to reduce off peak trips during this time, and use the money savings to improve service elsewhere Need more connection to mississauga like brampton to mississauga zuum buses go in to mississauga

274

Your discounted fare system is great. But the lack of any direct, reliable way to get from my neighbourhood (Tremaine and Derry) to the Milton GO is the main reason why I don't take Milton Transit.

275

2 main things to increase ridership and confidence in Milton Transit for GO Commuters. 1. Have connections with ALL Peak hour Go trains, else we have to depend on our CAR 2. Include newer area in clarke ( like Cedar hedge , trudeau - James ) so folks can get ti the bus stop in 5 min walk MAX . else it takes more time to walk to the bus stop than travel time of bus. It is not possible in winters to walk 10 - 15min each way to bus stop,

276

Why are we subsidizing an unused service. If someone wants to take the bus, their fares should cover the operation. Also why are we building a ton of cement pads where NO ONE GETS ON THE BUS? Does Milton own a cement company now?

It would be appreciated if transit was more accessible to areas of town that are more on the outskirts as well as in town and happened more frequently with lower cost and easier for those with disabilities. Please do not have a connection with Georgetown or Brampton The go train service needs to be available all day. I have to get downtown Toronto after the available train hours for my shift so it takes me significantly longer having to take the bus or drive to Oakville to catch their go train If more routes are added and you dont have to change too many buses will probably start utilising the Milton Transit system before 9am stop over at the station to transfer to #2 Eastbound is way too long...you connect people with GO but how about the people that works locally, have to sit in the station for about 15-20 minutes is not fair. People works beyond 8:00pm. We do need bus services beyond that. I have used transit in the past in other cities where I have lived and would consider taking transit again if circumstances changed I work in Mississauga and I start at 9:30am and sometimes at 1pm. In order for me to get to work, I have to take bus route 4 at either 7:38 or 8:08 in order to connect with the Go train. But, I end up arriving at work extremely early and I do not get paid for that. Also, if I decide to use the Go bus at 9, then I'm late for work. This is extremely frustrating and I never had these issues when I lived in Mississauga. Also, I work weekends and because there is no Milton transit bus service on Sunday's to take me to Milton Go station, I have to walk from Louis St. Laurent all the way to Derry and Thomposn to catch the Go bus. As well, going home sometimes I finish late in the evening and there are no more buses I end up having to pay for a taxi. This is becoming very expensive living in this town when your only options to get to other cities involve paying high amounts for Go transit service or a taxi, it's unfair. Not a very reasonable service you have going here. Milton has developed a lot and therefore it should have easier connections to other cities. I can't have visitors nor do I bother visiting any of my friends in other cities because of the poor transit system. I cannot afford a vehicle and the person I live with needs his vehicle for work. I rely on transit to get me everywhere and during the cold winter months, walking long distances to catch a Go bus isn't very pleasant. There needs to be some major changes to this system you have going. Hoping for positive changes soon, otherwise we are moving from this sad town. Connections outside Milton are essential. Should have better direct routes to schools, and more often....the school special in not abailable at BR and should be and it should run more than once. Also the one bus that goes to Bishop reding should have better timing and happen more than once. More teens would use this service if it went to more locations that they are going to or connect with other cities.

I don't carry cash, so I often take another mode because Presto isn't accepted on the bus. I will often walk instead, or drive. Also, a few times I needed the bus -- to pick up car, etc.. I was surprised that Milton Transit didn't go north of Main Street. I needed to get to 25 and 401, but it wasn't possible. This is crazy, buses need to go to where the services are. It should be hand in hand with trains and it should be so reliable that I don't need to check the schedule all the time Transit services itself for me is good except that there are some drivers doesn't do her.his job well. Biggest improvement you could make is to run more frequently and on weekends and evenings. The poor turnout that supposedly justifies the limited service would be improved if the buses ran as frequently as the bus service in cities like Mississauga, Oakville or Waterloo, cities which Milton is approaching in terms of population. Just short the time bcoz its very difficult to wait one hour for bus if we are going to any appointment Please consider rescheduling the after school special to help those kids who participate in after school events - to get home. Eg. Jean Vaniers after school special, occurs minutes after their FREE school transit buses leave (mimicking a similar route) - yet there are NO direct buses helping those same students participating in after school events to get home. Milton is growing, Jean Vanier is in its 5th year, it's time to reassess the after school special to actually provide a better route option for those participating in school activities - vs providing a special, that kids in that area have access to FREE school bus service. A bus route along Derry Rd from East to West (possibly starting near Jean Vanier School and moving along Ontario St/Bronte St and onto Derry Rd and then onto James Snow Pkway terminating Walmart) is need Would like to see more busses every 10 minutes & more routes to the west end of Milton (Louis St. Laurent & Tremain) Better connections to GO Buses from Guelph/Waterloo at the Park and Ride on the 401, HUGE potential and ridership I just find it easier to use the car as we have two young children. We take the bus to the fairground events. My son Loves riding it If there is direct and fast bus to mississauga and Brampton it will help lot of commuters Introduce late evening, Sunday services, align the service with go buses as well. Start service to adjoining towns esp Burlington, bronte carpool lot, Oakville, Halton hills and other small towns within Milton eg campbellville etc. finally implement presto machines in the busses just like in other towns so that one presto card is enough for Milton transit as well Waste of money should only be run during rush hour to get people to the go station and back home. My reason for completing this survey is to question why there are huge buses rolling through my neighbourhood (Clark & Trudeau) with hardly any passengers. The buses are too big, noisy and polluting. Can't we have smaller buses that are more efficient and less noise? Please? I have a stop just outside my house which is great, my only complaint is the above. I am retired and a pensioner and will need to make use of the bus as I get older so good connections with Mississauga and Go Transit are very important. I would support higher fares to bring improved service. I really wish you would use smaller vehicles though. Connection with go trains is the most important factor for me Milton Transit is a joke, tax payers are paying for this service that no one is using. I pass buses multiple times a day that are empty or close to it, Milton has to be loosing more money than it is taking in revenue I think it's a waste of taxpayer money at present time. Very annoying to see empty buses driving around town. It needs to have a bus route to the malls such as the toronto outlets or square one or erin mills Rural Milton receives no service. Our teens lose an element of independance by being denied transit usage.

I would use the go train if it ran to Toronto and surrounding areas at times other than the rush hour services it would be helpful. The bus takes too long to get out of Milton if you have a time to be somewhere outside of Milton and doesn't run late enough in the evening. The bus service isn't well advertised The buses are all empty driving around town all day and it is a waste of taxpayer money. Cut back services or eliminate it entirely. I just hoping for transfers that can be used for more then 3 hours as the bus get expensive and other towns do offer transfers for longer periods of time I work at Toronto Premium Outlets and I need a bus ride to the my workplace. A reasonable fair priced bus service is deeply needed and immediately too. Most buses I see around Milton are empty. Is not a priority, do not agree with expanding from current level nor want to pay more taxes for it. There has to be a more efficient way to organize routes. There was no option for "occasionally" for usage of Milton Transit and Go Transit. I use them occasionally (especially for festivals in Milton) and would use them more frequently if there were more direct routes other than via the Go station If they had the Presto machines, it would be better.

Just because of the layout of Milton and that I need to use my car to get to/from work (I work at a remote location with no public transit services), I likely wouldn't use Milton Transit. However, my mother visits from Ottawa every once in a while using the train (takes GO Bus/Train from downtown to Milton) and she would like to use Milton transit to get to our house in the Derry/Farmstead area. For that reason, and for other elderly users, I would like to see Milton Transit services continued and/or improved.

314

I live on Childs Drive and see the bus go by numerous times with no one on it. Does this mean it doesn't need to be on this road? Also, living here we find the buses noisy and can't have windows open anymore. Could you please look into this?

I had a recent experience on a morning bus trip to the GO station that was not a pleasant start to the morning. Because I don't take the bus frequently, I was unfamiliar with how much the trip cost. Usually there are one or two other people at the bus stop whom I ask, but on this morning in April there was no one. So when I got on, I asked the bus driver how much the fare was with a handful of change ready to deposit into the slot. He roughly yelled at price at me ($3.50) and when I clarified that I was going to the GO station he yelled a different price at me (70 cents). So I paid the fare and then as I was walking to a seat, he yelled at me that I needed to show my Presto card, which he didn't say to start with when I deposited my money. I was taking transit daily to work from downtown to James Snow & Clark winter before last and it took a solid hour, including a 20 minute wait at GO. I understand this has been changed now, but need more trips that don't require a transfer. Need to improve service along Ontario street to Steeles Avenue. ..and also have later bus services. I have 2 teens that work part time jobs and they have no transit available to them after 9 pm when their usual shifts ends. They also have no transit options on Sundays which make it very difficult for them and the one driver in our family. This survey assumes I still use transit, which I don't, though I would love to! Factors prohibiting me from using the service: routes available. I live at Ontario/Woodward and routes don't run at the time I would use them; not allowing transfers means I can't drop my kids off or run errands while being out and about on transit; scheduling-- to get across town to work, I can WALK faster than scheduling would allow for. We're talking upwards of 40 minutes just to get across town (daycare and work are near Derry/Thompson, but no services line up to connect home to daycare to work. Some routes have been changed and removed (Woodward) and the only route which comes close is the Industrial route, which operates in conjunction with business needs. In the Summer this is not an issue, but in the Winter time and additionally for us Seniors, it is an inconvenience to not have more direct routes.

The service is useless to me because there is only early morning and afternoon service covering Ontario N this has a high % of lower income people within a higher density. Myself I can't walk to Main St and normally drive so is not worth registering for the disability service. You should be able to use a transfer for a return trip if you are under 1-2 hours. It shouldn;t have to cost me $7.50 to .pick up a few needed things from Superstore. Another disadvantage to living Downtown. Thanks pristo system us highly required. the current ticket/cash system prevents me from using the buses. Better connection east west no connection between Bronte and Thompson at least connect the 2 high schools Love the fact you dress up bus at Christmas! Bus frequency and availability is poor. Should be the only thing taken care off Please consider an app like the rocket which is used in toronto. It updates traffic and is connected to the gps system of the buses so you know exactly when your bus will come. And the rates are too high. Pets are not allowed in the busses which policy should be reviewed and maybe more inline with what GTA transits are doing.... Maybe allow only on slow hours and not on rush. I want to go to malls outside milton

I am completely impressed with Milton transit. A few years ago, I had a medical incident and lost my license. I began riding the bus to get to appointments and shopping. It gave me my independence to live a normal life during my rehabilitation. On a regular basis, I observe the drivers interacting with riders in a positive way. I am very proud of the bus service that is offered here. We are very lucky to have such great service and drivers. My only wish is for Presto to be implemented even though I understand it is expensive.

331

Milton is a growing city and there are a lot of commuters to and from Mississauga/Oakville/Burlington. Expansion of services is very essential especially taking into account that the city has lot of senior citizens, school/college age children and working couples. Transit is one aspect that could hinder city's growth. Expansion would also create lot of jobs....I am willing to pursue my career as a transit operator if given an opportunity.

No improvement to make it faster to reach go connection from main street and James snow parkway. Too many bus stops, takes longer routes and discourages people with cars.wish Milton transit follows the google maps fastest route to connect go, Milton park ride, Brampton zoom connectivity, miss connections, yonge street connection's I would love to commute to work in Brampton using Transit, but there are no direct connections to Brampton - even though there is a majot east / west artery (Steeles Ave). huge waste of $...buses are almost always empty....buy some mini vans instead of full size busses...time to reduce service, not increase!...very biased survey questions Believe transit in Milton would be changed greatly by the addition of Go Transit parking and a second station in the Tremaine/401 area. Milton Transit could then operate a north loop (serving Main and Steeles) and a south loop serving Main and St Laurent). This would respond to both daily resident and commuter needs. There needs to be more support staff in the office, that Pacific Western Transit is doing an amazing job The service has improved a lot overall. The drivers are courteous and efficient. Definitely need to expand the routes further and extend service hours. Buses appear to be empty most of the time. You could have smaller ones.
