SAFETY Crime statistics for assaults, burglaries and rapes in Thailand are extremely low compared to Western countries (and especially the US), except in the statistics of murder by guns, which is high in Thailand*. The critical time when the incidents took place most often for all types of crimes, was after 12 midnight to 6 a.m. Crimes in Thailand are mainly grouped as follows: sex crimes, vice (e.g., crimes related to illegal drugs and gambling), property crime and homicides

Political Violence (organized crime)

Regional Terrorism

Limited violent incursions in the areas bordering Burma and Cambodia. In fact, Southern part of Thailand continues to experience almost daily attacks directed at anything perceived to be associated with the Thai government.

International/ Transnational Terrorism Numerous international and indigenous organized crime elements operating throughout Thailand, but they are mainly concentrated within the major cities. Their activities include drugs, human trafficking, prostitution, document fraud, etc.

Civil Unrest

Very few demonstrations all over the country. However, there were two political unrests in Bangkok incurred in 2009 and 2010 (MarchMay) by Red Shirt (UDD), which were the most violent event ever in Thailand when the demonstrators were fully equipped. 4
