A MOTHER’S DAY PRAYER: Dear Lord, today I turn to you to give you thanks for my mother. With your own gift of life, she bore me in her womb and gave me life. She tenderly, patiently cared for me and taught me to walk and talk. She read to me and made me laugh. No one delighted in my successes more; no one could comfort me better in my failures. I am so grateful for how she mothered me and mentored me, and even disciplined me. Please bless her, Lord, and comfort her. Help her loving heart to continue to love and give of herself to others. Strengthen her when she is down and give her hope when she is discouraged. Most of all, Lord, on this Mother's Day, give my mother the graces she most needs and desires today. I ask you this, in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior forever and ever.

ELEVATE: This year, all the Christian Churches of our city are planning to participate in a day of service to our community, each in their respective Wards. The day is called “Elevate” and will be held on Saturday, June 7th. The idea is to show that our faith leads us to service, first of all, and to allow us to work together in an ecumenical venture of ministry to our area. Although our Parish encompasses Wards 5, 6 and 7, we have so far only a firm commitment for a service project in Hanmer. It will involve helping out at the new skateboard park that is being built near the Lion’s Den. Our service, along with the other 4 Churches in this Ward, will likely include some landscaping (planting trees) and possibly some painting. More information will follow. For now, everyone is invited to mark this date in your calendar and to look forward to participating together with family and friends on that day.

BAPTISM PREPARATION: Our next Baptism Preparation session is this Wednesday night, beginning at 7:30 pm. It will be held in the Parish Hall of our St. Kevin Worship Site. Please keep in your prayers those who are preparing to present their children to Christ through Baptism. St. Alban's Spring Tea & Penny Sale 34 Dennie St., Capreol Thurs., May 15 6:30 - 8 p.m. Delectable desserts and a wide array of prizes. Admission - $4 Summer Five Day Retreat Sunday, August 10, 2014 - Friday, August 15, 2014 Theme: REFRAME- turning negatives into positives Frames define a picture. Change the frame and you will have a different picture. This retreat is a challenging invitation to put a new frame on what the Christian tradition still calls the seven deadly sins. What if in each of these "deadly sins" there is an opening, an invitation to look sideways - act against the grain, if you will - and adopt life-giving practices for becoming fully human and fully alive? Director: Fr. Philip Chircop, S.J. Date: Sunday August 10, (7 pm) to Friday August 15 (1 pm), 2014 Cost: $450.00 (live-in), $260.00 (commute) Reservation: Call 705-522-3502 ext 0 or at [email protected] .
