Our parish community is grateful to all who worked so hard to make our parish Christmas celebration beautiful. We thank the church decoration team, the liturgical planning team and ministers, the Christian Service team headed by Deacon Manuel and Luz Chavez, and our wonderful choirs. Thanks also to those who presented Las Posadas, Simbang Gabi and the Pastorela.

Catholics in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles are invited to participate in an online survey tied to the Extraordinary Synod of Bishops called for next year by Pope Francis. The Synod, to be held Oct. 5-19, 2014, will address the theme, "The Pastoral Challenges of the Family in the Context of Evangelization." To prepare for the Synod, the Vatican is consulting with every archdiocese and diocese in the world, and has issued a Preparatory Document that includes a series of questions.

The Archdiocese’s Victims Assistance Ministry helps victims/ survivors who have been victims of sexual abuse by priests, deacons, or individuals representing the Catholic Church. Las lecturas y su mensaje Eclesiástico (Sirac) 3: 2-7 Ben Sirá tiene en mente donde se manda expresamente honrar el padre y la madre. En una sociedad que daba tanta importancia a la estructura de la familia, era obvio que reclamara respeto y veneración por quienes, en cierto modo, representan y sustentan en el mundo el orden y la autoridad divina, los padres. Colosenses 3:12-21 Revestirse de la nueva condición es entrar en el dinamismo de una nueva creación en que hombres y mujeres se van renovando a imagen de su creador. Pablo se hace eco aquí de la tradición bíblica que veía en los nuevos tiempos un retorno a la paz y armonía del paraíso. Mateo 2: 13-15 Al igual que Moisés, Jesús es salvado de una muerte segura a manos del tirano. La matanza de los inocentes evoca el exterminio de los niños israelitas y el llanto de Israel.
