12 maj - 2013r. Stewardship Note: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, throughout Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Jesus tells his disciples that the Spirit will come to them and they will be sent out to build the “Church. Stewards today receive the same charge in Baptism and Confirmation to be witnesses to Christ and the good news he brought to all. SEVENTH SUNDAY OF EASTER May 12, 2013 “ I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. -Revelation 22:13 COME, LORD JESUS The first reading today may seem somewhat out of place. Doesn’t the “feast of Stephen” evoke memories of the Christmas season, rather than Easter? But it is most relevant for the days after the Ascension. Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, stands at his Father’s right hand to welcome Stephen into heaven. Indeed, that is why Jesus has gone before us—to welcome us into God’s house. In the second reading the focus on heavenly reward continues: the new day coming with its hope and expectation. There is also an echo here of Advent, but it is now the fulfillment of those hopes, the resolution of all questions and difficulties. John’s Gospel today is part of the section known as the “high priestly prayer” of Jesus. It was his prayer at the Last Supper as he prepared for his roles as priest and victim. But it is also his prayer as the glorified high priest, the giver of glory, the center of faith, and the master of his destiny and ours. Next weekends second collection is for Higher Energy and Fuel Costs. MOTHER’S DAY Today our country pays special tribute to all mothers. Here at St. Joseph Basilica Masses this day are offered for the mothers, living and deceased and for the intentions you submitted in your remembrance envelopes. The most precious gift you can offer your mother is the gift of prayer and reflect in your life her values which she taught you from childhood. A Mother’s Heart– A mother’s heart is always filled with love for her children, with hopes and dreams for them, with a never ending prayer that God blesses them with happiness and will protect them from harm and care for them in her absence. A mother’s heart is always filled with love for her children and love for God. PARTNERS IN CHARITY This week, we have reached 87% or $21,776 of our goal of $25,000. We need an additional $3224. If you have not yet done so, a donation in any amount will help us complete this drive in a timely manner. We hope that you can help St. Joseph’s attain our goal for the people and organizations that depend on this appeal

Page 3 REFLECTION ON FIRST HOLY COMMUNION The First Communion celebration is always a highlight of our pastoral ministry and a major event in the sacramental life of the parish. Last Sunday 22 children received the Eucharist for the first time at St. Joseph Basilica. Family and friends filled the church to capacity at the 12:30pm Mass. It was a very solemn, uplifting and joyful experience for the children and the entire parish community. Each child actively participated and played a special role in the liturgical service. The beautiful spring sunshine of May, the floral decorations inside and outside the church, the splendor of the Blessed Mother altar provided a beautiful setting for this spiritual experience. Needless to say, superb musical selections performed by the joint school children choirs, directed by Robert Wojcik, accompanied with various instruments blended with the organ music and added so much to the joy of the day. I want to express my gratitude to many who contributed much time and effort to make this day memorable, especially the Felician Sisters, Father Gregory, Nancy Bush, Betty Sabaj and Jackie Skrocki. Mrs. Sylvia Kitka and the altar guild, as usual, did an outstanding job of embellishing our church. We are grateful for an anonymous donation for the flowers at the front entrance to our basilica.

CEMETERY Springtime offers us the opportunity to “spruce up” and prepare the cemetery for Memorial Day. It is quite a large area to tend to and we are trying our best to ready this site for the influx of summer visitors. We also need your help. Please plant flowers only in front of the monument and we ask that you do not place arrangements in breakable vases as this hinders the landscaping company who assists us in keeping the grounds in order. Please abstain from placing any mementos on the wall of the Columbarium or plastic items at the bottom of the niches. You probably have noticed that new shrubs have been planted around the Columbarium. We are grateful for the assistance of Lenny Zurowski and Sylvia Kitka. This past week we experienced some difficulties with the water system, but this problem has been repaired and water is available this weekend. Thank you for your understanding of this situation. KRONIKA PARAFIALNA SIÓDMA NIEDZIELA WIELKANOCNA 12 maja 2013 Jam Alfa i Omega, Pierwszy i Ostatni, Początek i Koniec. (Ap 22, 13) Wniebowstąpienie oznacza nową obecność Jezusa, a nie Jego odejście. Nie wpatrujmy się w niebo. On jest tutaj, tam gdzie Go głosimy, gdzie pochylamy się nad ludzką biedą i cierpieniem. By ją przyjąć, potrzebujemy dojrzałości wiary, zdobywanej przez podejmowanie samodzielnych wyborów między egoizmem a poświęceniem, braniem a dawaniem, przemocą a łagodnością, kłamstwem a prawdą. DZIEŃ MATKI Dzisiaj w Stanach Zjednoczonych czcimy nasze matki.

Adoracja potrwa do godziny 16:00 i zostanie zakończona uroczystymi Nieszporami. W poniedziałek Najświętszy Sakrament będzie wystawiony do prywatnej adoracji od rana aż do godz. 17:30.

Oczywiście życzymy też zdrowia i spełnienia wszystkich marzeń! Zapraszamy do naszej szkoły! -- Ewa Mamro, dyrektor
