PALM SUNDAY March 25, 2018 Pilate again said to them Then what shall I do with the man whom you call King of the Jews? And they cried out again Crucify him. Mark 15:12-13

Across the Christian world Palm Sunday commemorates the triumphant entrance of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. The people of that time eagerly anticipated the Messiah to enter the city which was under Roman rule and waiting for liberation from foreign oppression. They identified that man as Jesus Christ so they welcomed and glorified him as a King and Liberator. They had their own ideas of who Jesus was and what his mission was. The people of the world today are also in need of liberation. He has not come to free us from earthly oppression but from the worst human enemies, sin and death. He has come to bring salvation to all mankind. As we enter Holy Week and experience a sacred encounter with salvation let us look beyond palm branches and shouts of praise and concentrate on the love of the Son of God for all mankind. This expression of God’s love is so strong that it overcomes the power of sin, death, and evil and gives us the hope of eternal salvation. Eucharistic Ministers - March 24/25 4:00pm Jean Duclos and Joseph Werbecki 7:00am Betty Sabaj 8:15am Cathleen Holmberg and Sheila Kusek 9:30am John Hester and Theresa Wagner 11:00am - Tessa Mailloux Lectors - March 24/25 4:00pm Marlene Plaza 7:00am Diane Gajewski and Ryszard Skowron 8:15am Linda Cieszynski 9:30am St. Joseph School Students 11:00am - Ursula Kokosinski NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH We invite parishioners and friends to join us for our weekly Novena and Devotion to St. Joseph, Patron of the Universal Church on Wed., March 28, at 7pm. This is an ideal time to turn to St. Joseph to intercede for needed blessings and needs. Members of the Knights of Columbus will carry the statue of St. Joseph into the sanctuary.

SHARING OUR BLESSINGS - March 18, 2018 Weekly $5,156.25 Diocesan Obligations $148; Fuel $105 Catholic Relief Services $625 Weekly Budget $7000 Stewardship Note: Jesus told us whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me. Every day we are presented opportunities to help someone. Every day we have the opportunity to see the face of Jesus in others and be the face of Jesus to others. Pray for the strength and courage to stand up for those in need of our help.

Good Friday Collection Catholics worldwide are invited each year by the Holy Father to support our sisters and brothers in the Holy Land by making a donation to the Good Friday Collection. Keeping Christianity alive in the Holy Land is as urgent a goal of the Church as it was in the days of St. Paul when he called upon various communities to support their brothers and sisters in Jerusalem. Your donation helps the Franciscans and others to minister in parishes, provide Catholic schools, and offer religious education. Your contributions assist the Catholic community with housing, food, health care, and employment. In these times of crisis, you also help in providing humanitarian aid to refugees and bring the sacraments and hope to Christians in places like Syria. Please be generous. —Bishop Robert McManus

PALM SUNDAY Today we celebrate the joyful entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem with a solemn Liturgy. Blessing of the Palms will take place at every Mass with the reading of the Passion. A solemn procession with the singing of the Passion and participation of the choir will take place at the 11am Mass in Polish. CONFESSIONS On Monday, March 26, at 6:30pm we will have several visiting priests at our Basilica to hear confessions. Please join us in preparing your mind and soul for Easter by taking part in this most important sacrament. All are welcome!

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION All classes will be held on Monday, March 26, at 5:30pm

EASTER SUNDAY COLLECTION Following tradition, Easter Sunday’s second collection is designated for the educational excellence of St. Joseph School. Across our country parents will make any sacrifice to ensure their children receive a quality education. Development of intellect with the latest technology and rigorous curriculum as well as forming the character according to universal principles of Catholic anthropology is the highest yearning of a caring parent. In view of the unprecedented and brutal school violence which has become a permanent component of our culture with students being the aggressors, the most liberal television channels have recently suggested, for the first time, that curriculum education is not enough but that the students have to be taught about kindness, sacrifice, etc. It is, indeed, a step in the right direction, however they fail to recognize that the school is not only about curriculum and knowledge but especially about fostering and nurturing the spiritual, psychological, and social components of the students based on principles, values, and Christian anthropology. It is very well known that St. Joseph School, with its limited resources, addresses the material and spiritual dimension of the students which means educating their intellect and forming their character. Our high enrollment is testimony to the right approach to education of our students. The Easter collection is a great help to keep our tuition at a low level in order that all parents can afford a Catholic education. The education that we offer students is well below the costs of running our school. Our gymnasium and parish center which is in the final construction stage gives visible proof of our commitment to serve our parish community. The St. Joseph School students will serve as collection ushers on Easter Weekend. Please know that we are deeply thankful for your prayers and generosity and it would be greatly appreciated if you would kindly suggest to your family members and friends who will be joining us that this is our Annual Appeal.

St. Joseph School Students Honor School Violence Victims On Wednesday, March 14th our 5th, 6th, and 7th Grade students offered a rosary for victims and survivors of school violence. The rosary was led by the Children of Mary Sodality. The students had hoped to say their rosary in front of the Pope John Paul II statue since he was the pope who especially loved and prayed for all young people. However, due to the snow, the students gathered together in the second floor hallway. CEMETERY REMINDERS Spring is here and it’s time to think about sprucing up the St. Joseph Garden of Peace where we visit and pray for our loved ones. We kindly ask that you please remove all old, faded, and broken decorations. Thank you. PACC EVENTS Friday, May 18 - Comedy Night Fundraiser - Proceeds to benefit the PACC Building Fund. Odpowiedzieli mu krzykiem: «Ukrzyżuj Go!»” To wydarzenie, w którym uczestniczymy. W kościołach podczas uroczyście sprawowanych obrzędów Męka Pańska poprzedzona jest wspomnieniem wjazdu Jezusa do Jerozolimy i poświęceniem palm. Najpierw słyszymy radosne „Hosanna” tłumów witających Jezusa, a za chwilę tragiczne: „Ukrzyżuj”. Uczestniczymy w tych dramatycznych wydarzeniach obarczeni naszymi krzyżami niesionymi cierpliwie przez całe życie. Wchodząc w misterium Paschy, chcemy je przejść razem z Chrystusem. U Jego boku doświadczyć siły życia i zmartwychwstania. RELIGIA Katecheza Zajęcia katechetyczne w poniedziałek, 26 marca o godz. 17:30 w szkole.

NIEDZIELA PALMOWA Dziś wspominamy uroczyste wkroczenie Jezusa do Jerozolimy. 11:00 Liturgię rozpocznie uroczysta procesja z poświęceniem palm, a Pasja zostanie odśpiewana wspólnie z chórem parafialnym. NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA Zapraszamy parafian i przyjaciół do udziału wraz z Rycerzami Kolumba w Nowennie do św.

Zbierane ofiary służą Franciszkanom i innym, którzy prowadzą parafie w tamtym regionie, tworzą szkoły katolickie i organizują edukację religijną.

Kształtowanie intelektu z użyciem najnowszych technologii w polaczeniu z formowaniem charakteru i osobowości według uniwersalnych zasad antropologii katolickiej to najlepsze czego mogą pragnąć troskliwi rodzice dla swoich dzieci.
