Sc hool News This Week At St. Francis Borgia School Week of December 8, 2014 An all-school Mass for the feast of the Immaculate Conception will be celebrated on Monday, December 8, at 8:30 a.m. in the Church. The sixth grade will be planning this liturgy. All are welcome to attend. There will be an all-school Advent prayer service on Monday, December 8, at 2:35 p.m. in the Church. Students will be dismissed directly from Church. All are welcome to attend this service. The Flakes Craft Club will meet after school on Monday, December 8. The Chef Club will meet after school on Monday, December 8. Progress Reports will be sent home for students in grades 3 - 8 on Tuesday, December 9. Parents are to sign and return them to school on or before Thursday, December 11. Hot diggity dog! Tuesday, December 9, is Hot Dog Lunch!
Santa's Secret Workshop will be held on Tuesday, December 9, and Wednesday, December 10. All children in each grade will have a chance to do some Christmas shopping. Volunteer elves will be available to help the younger children with their selections and purchases. The Chess Club will meet after school on Tuesday, December 9. The Chime Choir will meet after school on Wednesday, December 10. Students in grades 3 through 8 will attend Advent Reconciliation on Friday, December 12. The Jr. Beta Club will meet after school on Friday, December 12. Sister Marie Paul's orchestra will perform their Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 12, in Mayall Hall. All are welcome to this performance. The St. Francis Borgia School Parents’ Association will be holding their annual Cookie Walk/Bake Sale from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14. Solemnity of Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary Monday, December 8, 2014 is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the patronal feast of the US. Because of the importance of this Solemnity, which celebrates the saving work of God in preserving Our Lady from the stain of original sin, December 8th is always a Holy Day of Obligation, even when it falls on a Saturday or Monday. Advent Day of Reflection on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe – December 12 On Friday, December 12, we will celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, at 7:00 p.m. with a Mass in Church and Rosary before Mass at 6:30 pm. Join us as we remember Our Lady in a special way as we wait with her for the birth of Christ. You are invited to bring roses to symbolize the flowers that Juan Diego gathered in his cloak. After Mass we will bless the roses. Our reflection master will be Fr. Pawel Komperda. Fr. Pawel is an alumnus of Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary, class of 1999; alumnus of St. Joseph College Seminary, class of 2002; Ordination class of 2006. Fr. Pawel served as an Associate Pastor in two parishes: Prince of Peace in Lake Villa, 20062009; St. Thecla in Chicago, 2009-2011. He also served as a Spiritual Director at St. Joseph College Seminary, 20072011. Currently he is one of our Formation Priests and the Director of Liturgy and the Pastoral Formation program. After mass and reflection we will have a light reception in the Stoke Center.
Advent Sacrament of Reconciliation Why do we have the Sacrament of Reconciliation? The answer is simple. We need a way to find forgiveness for the serious sins we may commit after our baptism. We must have some means of restoring our broken relationships with God and the Christian community. The Sacrament of Reconciliation recognizes the fact that our sins scar the relationships we have with others wounding us through their addictive power in our lives. Through penance we begin to heal wounds that sin inflicts on others and ourselves. During Advent, it is an excellent idea to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation which will be on Saturday, December 13 from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm in Church.
GOLDEN CLUB Thursday, December 11th. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Meeting starts at 1:15 p.m. This will be our regular monthly meeting. Refreshments will be served and we will play Bingo. We will also hold a “Super Raffle”. This year we are combining our Annual Christmas Party with the Senior Club of Hiawatha Park. The event will be held at Elmcrest Banquets, 7370 W. Grand Ave., Elmwood Park on December 18. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Luncheon will be served at 12:30 p.m. Cost for this event is $15.00 for members and $25.00 for non-members. Święto Matki Bożej z Guadalupe - 12 grudnia Dzień 12 grudnia jest szczególnym momentem w duchowości Meksyku i narodów latynoamerykańskich. Tego dnia obchodzi się wielkie uroczystości religijne poświęcone objawieniom Matki Bożej na Wzgórzu Tepeyac. Matka Boża jest patronką obu Ameryk jak i również jest Patronkę życia poczętego, ponieważ przedstawiona jest na obrazie w stanie błogosławionym. W tym dniu zostanie odprawiona Msza Święta w j. angielskim o godzinie 7 wieczorem. Przed Mszą Świętą będzie różaniec o godz. 6:30 wieczorem. Nabożeństwo do Ojca Pio W tym miesiąciu nabożeństwo do Ojca Pio będzie 18 grudnia o 7:00pm.
Rekolekcje Adwentowe – 19 – 21 grudnia Tegoroczne Rekolekcje Adwentowe rozpoczną się w piątek 19 grudnia i zakończą w niedzielę 21 grudnia. Rekolekcje poprowadzi Ks. Dr. Andrzej Niedużak. Ks. Andrzej odwiedził naszą parafię w październiku gdy przedstawił nam postać Bł. Ks. Jerzego Popiełuszko. Koło Żywego Różańca Najświętszej Maryjii Panny Koło Żywego Różańca jest wspólnotą, która pełni misję głoszenia Ewangelii przez modlitwę różańcową podejmowaną w intencjach Kościoła powszechnego jak i lokalnego. Żywy Różaniec składa się z ŻYWYCH RÓŻ. Każda Róża posiada dwadzieścia osób, z których każda odmawia codziennie dziesiątek różańca czyli jedną tajemnicę, połączoną z rozważaniem.
