Holy Family’s Retreats

Defending Our Religious Liberty

We look forward to welcoming the men of St. Francis of Assisi Church on retreat along with other New Britain parishes, in March. Retreat Theme: The Light of Simplicity – Join Holy Family’s retreat team for a weekend of peace and reflection as we explore the simple and transformative message at the heart of Jesus’ teaching. Discover how simplicity can shine a light on what is truly essential and important in our lives. Be renewed and inspired by the paradox of simplicity and the gift of faith. The retreat includes: home-cooked meals, inspirational liturgies, uplifting music, free time, and workshops. The retreat begins with dinner at 6:00PM on Friday evening and concludes with Sunday brunch at noon. www.holyfamilyretreat.org or call Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center, West Hartford, CT at 860760-9705 for more information. Men’s Retreat Date: March 17 – 19, 2017 Women’s Retreat Date: April 21 – 23, or June 2 – 4

The Catholic Church invests in the common good. It runs and operates schools, hospitals, universities, charities and social services. Our government and society have long relied on them for help and taken advantage of the vast network that churches and religious institutions provide to aid people in need and to help form good citizens. But, when we are told we’ve got to stop being who we are, to put aside our beliefs, or plainly go against our conscience in order to be allowed to contribute to the common good, we must speak out. If you haven’t done so already, please voice your opposition to the federal health care mandate by calling the new U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services at 202-205-5445, and your elected representatives. Let them know that the mandate is in violation of our First Amendment right to religious freedom.
