Ready to begin your new adventure into the world of Girl Scouts? Your journey starts here!

Get ready! Get set! Go! This learning opportunity covers the basics: how to get your troop started, what a meeting looks like, banking, parent involvement and working with your co-leader. It is offered as a series of online modules.       

A hands-on sampler for supporting girls of any age along their “journey” activity path. You’ll have a chance to work with the resources, try out some activities and see how you can customize the journey for your girls. Jump on and have some fun!  Prerequisite: Getting Started  Fee: None

Dive into the world of “girl-led”! Learn how to work with your girls to plan, experience and reflect on their next adventure. Discuss age-level progression, necessary administrative steps and local resources. Qualifies participants to take girls on day trips of 4 or more hours, but not overnight. (This workshop can also be completed as an online module.)  Prerequisite: Getting Started  Fee: None

Are your girls ready to make it happen? Are you ready to get your girls out there? Once you, a co-leader or an interested parent completes the workshops for Outdoor Progression, you and your troop can rest easy knowing you have the skills needed for a great experience!

Does your troop want to go on an overnight for the first time, either inside or close to home? Complete this Online Learning Module to get prepared and have fun! It's a great course to take three months before your overnight!  Prerequisite: Day Trip Planning  Fee: None

Your girls are ready for the great outdoors. This workshop will help you gain the skills and knowledge needed to help the girls plan a successful outdoor experience. This workshop is an outdoor overnight for 1 or 2 nights. It should be taken at least 2 months prior to your troop’s planned activity.  Prerequisite: Day Trip Planning & Basic Overnights  Fee: Varies, see specific event online for pricing

Are you an outdoor enthusiast? Do you have years of experience working outside at camps with children? Then you would be a perfect candidate for Outdoor Overnight Equivalency. Register online to complete the online assessment, and if your experience meets expectations, to be matched with a coach!

This 6 hour workshop will help you to sharpen your skills in knots, charcoal cooking and building a kitchen fly and then share those skills with your girls.  Prerequisite: Outdoor Overnight is suggested, but not required  Fee: $10-$15

Emergencies require prompt action and quick judgment. For many activities, Girl Scouts recommends that at least one adult volunteer be First Aid/CPR certified. Council provided courses are available at our Saturday Conferences (see back page) or you can take advantage of local options. Please note: First Aid/CPR training that is entirely completed online does NOT satisfy Girl Scouts requirements.

This course varies in length and is offered at Super Saturday, Northern Lights & The Big Deal.  Prerequisite: 16+ years old  Fee: varies

Wilderness First Aid is focused on injuries and emergencies related to backpacking, canoe trekking and other trips into remote areas. An adult with this certification is required for all activities that are 30 minutes or more away from emergency medical services. This course is 16 hours and all three days are required to pass.  Prerequisite: Current CPR/AED certification, adults  Fee: Varies

Congratulations! You’ve stuck with those girls as an advisor, and now it’s your turn to nurture their Big Trip dream. Take a deep breath and learn your role in supporting THEIR research, planning, money earning and safety – international, back country or close to home. (This workshop is also available as an online module).  Prerequisite: Basic Overnights  Fee: $10

Learn about timelines, checklists, marketing strategies, finance, logistics, safety, working with a leadership team and developing a quality program. A 8

great workshop for adults and older girls who will be part of an event team. Strongly recommended for volunteer camp directors.  Prerequisite: None  Fee: $10

We talk about preparing girls to be aware and react appropriately to bullying behavior, but what about adults? Have you noticed bullying in your volunteer life, workplace or social sphere? Learn to recognize bullying behavior and how to take appropriate intervention action  Prerequisite: None  Fee: $10

Learn to recognize the difference between bullying and conflict. Identify strategies for yourself and others to deal with conflict in a positive manner. Win/wins can happen!  Prerequisite: None  Fee: Varies

Ceremonies, songs and games are integral to our Girl Scout program. Conferences are great venues for

reminding yourself of your favorites and you will enjoy learning new ones for a variety of occasions.  Prerequisite: None  Fee: Varies

Gain an understanding of leadership and management skills, team and community building, and the steps involved in providing effective support to troop leaders.  Prerequisite: Service Unit Manager Orientation  Fee: None

This is a great workshop for anyone who is part of a planning team for an encamporee or similar event. There will be time for your team to work together during the workshop, so consider bringing other team members.  Prerequisite: Event planning experience helpful  Fee: $15

Become a National Certified Basic Archery Instructor, as you yourself learn the basics.  Prerequisite: Adult  Fee: $77

Learn to prepare quality meals for large group events while working effectively in a commercial kitchen. This course qualifies adults to use council commercial kitchen facilities. Be prepared to be cooking and on your feet most of the weekend.  Prerequisite: Adult; current Food Handlers Permit  Fee: $42

This weekend workshop is intended for people who already have the knowledge of small crafts, but want to become an instructor for girls. Participants will need to complete the online pre-course work and reading prior to arriving at camp. This workshop can qualify you to act as the waterfront supervisor at one of the Girl Scout camp’s waterfronts when boating is the primary use.

 Prerequisite: Adult; Must know how to canoe, kayak and rowboat  Fee: $175

This workshop is focused on safety skills for boating and does not teach the participant how to use the craft. All participants must pass a boating skills verification, demonstrating ability to maneuver the craft and swim test, including treading water for 1 minute and swimming 25 yards, fully dressed, to become certified. This workshop also includes a Basic Water Rescue portion that qualifies the participant to be the safety person for creek walking in GSWW.  Prerequisite: Adult & girls over 18  Fee: $45

Through the Program Aide workshop, girls will learn some of the things that good activity leaders do and how to be a good teammate and positive role model. Completing this workshop is a step toward earning the Program Aide Award.  Prerequisite: Girls entering 6th-8th grades in the fall  Fee: $10

Congratulations! You’ve stayed in Girl Scouts and now, as an older girl, it’s time to take that Big Trip to somewhere YOU choose! Learn how to put all those ideas into an action plan to get you there. We’ll discuss it all from deciding where to go to how to pay for it. Start saving!  Prerequisite: Girls entering 6th-12th grades in the fall  Fee: $10

Build your leadership skills and prepare to work with younger Girl Scouts as a Volunteer-in-Training, a new award program from GSUSA! As a Senior or Ambassador, you have some exciting opportunities to help younger Girl Scouts by sharing your skills, passions and experience.  Prerequisite: Girls entering 9th-12th grades in the fall  Fee: $10

This hands-on workshop is for girls who are ready to Go Gold! If you have completed one of the prerequisites for the Gold Award, attend this seminar to learn all of the ins and outs of the award process. You’ll practice identifying needs in your community, learn about ways to collaborate effectively with

community partners, cover the basics of submitting your proposal and network with other teens! Adults are welcome to take notes, but girls are the focus of this workshop encouraged to take the lead.  Prerequisite: Gold Award Orientation recommended. Girls entering 9th-12th grades and adults  Fee: $15

A great starting point for girls interested in letting their leadership skills shine! Learn the ins and outs of the Silver Award process in this optional workshop. It is especially helpful if you are not sure where to start. Girls are encouraged to take the lead; adults are invited to observe.  Prerequisite: None  Fee: $10
