Leadership Foundations Effective July 1, 2012, the Leadership Foundations is a leadership development program required for all people leaders within MCCCD. This program combines both new and existing coursework to help Maricopa people leaders understand the foundation of what it means to be a leader at MCCCD by creating a common language, behaviors, and necessary skill-sets. If you are a new or existing leader, as defined below, you need to fulfill the requirements in the timeline outlined below: Are you a new leader? New people leaders are those leaders who have been newly hired, promoted, or transferred into a permanent leadership position within the last six months and have a minimum of one full-time or part-time governing board-approved employee reporting directly to them; have responsibility and authority to direct the work of that employee, as well as conduct the applicable annual performance evaluation process of that employee. If you fit into this category, you are considered a new leader and will be contacted by EOLT to participate in a new leader on-boarding process that will have your twoyear learning plan and available dates outlined for you. Are you an existing leader? Existing people leaders are those leaders who have been in a permanent Maricopa leadership position for more than six months and have a minimum of one full-time or part-time governing boardapproved employee reporting directly to them; have responsibility and authority to direct the work of that employee, as well as conduct the annual performance evaluation of that employee. If you fit into this category, you should already have completed the first requirement in the list below and be well on your way to completing the second requirement listed: • Complete the MCCCD Leadership Principles workshop by June 30, 2013 (all existing leaders should be completed)*. • Complete the Navigate Maricopa Supervisor Program, if you have not already done so, between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014 (see pages 6-8 of this schedule for more information on this program). • Complete the Maximizing Our Strengths as An Inclusive Community – MOSAIC series, if you have not already done so, between July 1, 2014, and June 30, 2015 (see pages 8-9 of this schedule for more information on this series). Because there are approximately 500+ existing people leaders that will need to complete the Navigate Maricopa Supervisor Program in the FY 13-14, only those who meet the “existing leader” and “new leader” criteria noted above will be eligible to enroll in those classes. If you are not currently a “people leader” but would like to position yourself for future opportunities, please note that open classes will be made available in the future for your participation. For more information on criteria, requirements, and participation, please contact Employee and Organizational Learning at 480-731-8814 or 480-731-8624. *If you meet the criteria and have not started this first component of the program, contact our office ASAP for assistance.
