2014 Archbishop’s Annual Appeal This year the theme of the Appeal is When I Called, You Answered. It comes from Psalm 138 where the psalmist thanks God for hearing his prayer. God calls us also and we answer in many ways. The Archbishops Annual Appeal (AAA) is one way God calls and our participation is our answer to Him. The AAA provides the poor with food, shelter and clothing; makes religious education, spiritual guidance and CYO athletics available for the young; ensures the future leadership of the Church with seminarian education and training; and most importantly, brings Christ’s Good News to the people of the Archdiocese. Supporting the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal is our thanks to God for hearing our prayers. Pencils and AAA envelopes will be located in the church pews and in the back of the church. Thank you.

“The seed sown among thorns is the one who hears the word but then the cares of the world and the lure of riches choke the word and it bears no fruit.” ~Matthew 13:22 Does the lure of riches and material goods choke God out of your life? Are you so caught up in worldly activities and anxieties that you have no time for God? Good stewardship is a life-style to be lived every day. It effects all the decisions we make. It’s not just the time we spend at Mass every Sunday.

Stewardship We have an obligation to share with others, that which God has given us. Share your time, and talents. Men and women can become involved in the life of our Parish by becoming an Altar Server, Catechist, Choir Member, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Lector, and/or Usher. By taking an active role in the liturgical life, and service of the Parish, you can have a wonderful experience. We are especially in need of men and women to volunteer their time as Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. Feel free to fill out the form on page 5 and drop it in the collection basket or call the rectory.

While you are vacationing, please do not miss Mass. If you do not know the location of the local church while you are away, you can visit www.masstimes.org and get Mass schedules from around the world.

Help Us Avoid the Summer Slump Every summer the offerings drop when parishioners are out of town for vacation. Obviously, they aren’t here to put their offering in the basket. In the meantime, the bills and necessary expenses to carry on the parish ministry continue during the summer and must be paid. We have a solution! You plan ahead for your vacation and make reservations and send deposits for your hotel and other accommodations. In the same way, why not put the offering for the weeks you’ll be away in the offertory basket before you leave. Then, you can enjoy your vacation with the clear conscience that the mission and ministry of the parish can continue unhindered as you enjoy your time of rest and relaxation. As always we thank you for your generosity. Ministry Sign Up Form Name: _______________________________ Address: _____________________________
