The All Souls Day Mass on Monday, November 2, at 6:30 p.m. will be offered for those enrolled in the Book and all our deceased friends and family. Adult Faith Formation Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home Join Seminarian John Baab in a four-week course on Pope Francis' recent encyclical, Laudato Si: On Care for Our Common Home. Come and explore the teachings of Pope Francis on the environment and begin a dialogue on how we are called to respond as Catholics. The course continues on Wednesday, November 4th, 7 - 830pm. All are welcome, even if you haven’t been before! All women of the parish are welcome to join a prayer group. Sessions are held in the Gathering Room of the Church. 1. Friday Morning Group meets two Fridays a month, 10 am – 11am. The next gathering is this Friday, November 6th. 2. Wednesday Evening Group begins on Wednesday, November 18th, 7:00pm – 8:30 pm. Catholic Book Study Our book discussion on The Way of Serenity: Finding Peace and Happiness in the Serenity Prayer concludes this THURSDAY, November 18th. We will discuss: Part III: The Wisdom to Know the Difference: Chapters 36 through the Conclusion. This meeting is held at St. Michael Hall from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm. Diocese of Richmond Conferences The Catholic Women’s Conference: “Women on the Way” Saturday, November 21 Greater Richmond Convention Center The Center for Marriage, Family, and Life is hosting the 3rd Annual Catholic Women’s Conference at the Richmond Convention Center. There are some exciting changes with the conference this year. There will be two simultaneous conferences taking place – one for English speakers and one for Spanish speakers. Each conference features two keynote speakers, and all participants will gather together for lunch, small groups, and the closing Mass. The $45 registration includes admission to the event, buffet lunch, and continental breakfast. Registration the week of the conference will increase to $55. Kingdom Kids at the 10:00am Mass What’s offered for children at the 10:00am Mass? • Kingdom Kids Nursery (1-3 yrs) meets for the duration of Mass, every Sunday. • Kingdom Kids Pre-K/Kindergarten (4 & 5yrs olds) meets for the duration of the Mass. (Starts again in January) • Kingdom Kids Worship (1st – 5th grades) Children process out at Mass & return before the Eucharist. Kingdom Kids Worship meets the first, second and third Sundays most months.

Youth Ministry Middle School Faith Formation The next Junior Youth Group gathering (after this weekend) will be Sunday, November 15, during the breakout session of Gathered By Grace. All youth in middle school are invited to attend! Senior Youth Group The next Senior Youth Group meeting (after this weekend) will be on Sunday, November 15, in St. Michael Hall. SYG will meet following the 5:00pm Mass and will wrap up at 8:00pm. All youth in high school are invited to attend! If you haven’t already registered, you can do so at olmc.org. God Rocks -- High School Retreat God Rocks is an annual retreat for the high schoolers of OLMC. This year’s retreat will be a great chance to learn more about our Catholic faith, grow closer to God, have fun, and make new friends! All high schoolers at OLMC are encouraged to attend! When is God Rocks? Depart OLMC at 6:00pm Friday, December 4; arrive back at OLMC at 12:00pm Sunday, December 6. (Transportation will be provided) How much does it cost to attend? $39 (only $32 if you register and pay before November 7!) However, inability to pay should never inhibit a teen from taking an opportunity to grow in faith. Families in need of assistance covering the cost of the retreat should contact Patrick Walsh. Sacraments Confirmation Preparation Next Sunday, November 8, teens preparing to receive the sacrament of Confirmation will be recognized during the 5pm Mass. Families and sponsors are encouraged to be present. Teens should remember to arrive dressed for the occasion and to check in with a Confirmation Team member by 4:30pm. After the Mass, candidates for Confirmation can head to St. Michael Hall for dinner and fellowship before the 6:30pm8:30pm Confirmation Prep meeting. Baptisms at OLMC are celebrated at scheduled times throughout the year. Whether you are parents-to-be, parents of an infant, or parents of a young child, we invite you to consider having your child baptized into the Catholic faith at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. First Sacrament Preparation The First Penance (Reconciliation) Workshop will be held at St. Michael Hall on Sunday, November 8, from 11:15am1:45pm. Please bring items small enough to fit in a shoe box for the Tree Box Giving: markers, crayons, small coloring book, small toy or game, stickers and other small surprises. The children will assemble and decorate the boxes at the workshop. Parent and child should attend together. Children must be registered before attending the session. The at home study materials were handed out at the Parent Orientation as well as the Sacrament Booklet with dates and home assignments. Fair Trade Expo Coming this December! Fair Trade creates opportunities for us to respond to our duty as Catholics in a small but significant way every day through the choices we make as consumers. When we make the conscious choice to purchase Fair Trade items, we are putting the values of Catholic Social Teaching into action and working to realize our vision of economic justice. SAVE THE DATE: Weekend of December 5/6 after all the Masses, we will have a Fair Trade Expo with opportunities for you to make some of your holiday purchases fair trade items.
