She had a look at all the photos during the past week from the Drive In, Away Day in Mount Wolseley, her Lady Captain's Days, Lady Captain's Away Trip to Tullamore and finally her LC Dinner but her abiding memory of her year will be the endless sunshine on what was a miserable summer weather wise, but most of all for the endless support that you ladies gave her throughout the year.

She thanked each and everyone one of you for your gifts and cards on her Lady Captain's Day and the support that you have shown her. She had one objective at the start of the year, which was to be able to look back and know that she had given the role her time and her best effort. her invitation to be her Lady Vice Captain and who has great experience in the running of the Ladies Club and will be an asset to the Ladies Committee. 7. Any Other Business Lady V Captain Annette advised that her day away would be to Seafield on Friday 10th May. She also announced that a Swap Day had been arranged with Powerscourt on 21st May. As Margaret Melican in stepping down as Junior convenor, a replacement is being sought and anyone who wishes to take on this role should speak to the Lady V Captain. The Lady V Captain also asked if ladies would offer to be sponsors. The cost per Open is €250 - €300 and maybe some ladies would agree to join together. The cost for sponsorship of a Seniors Open off season is €150. A number of ladies have already come forward to act as Team Managers but another 3 are required. Ladies were urged to volunteer their services. Betty Allen pointed out that on occasion, when she was playing late, the competition was closed when she got in and therefore her card and those of her partners were not included in the results. Apologies were offered for this occurrence but it was pointed out that this cannot happen in a singles event as the computer will not allow the competition to be closed until all those who have entered are accounted for. However, it is possible to happen on team events but hopefully it will not happen in future. A lively discussion was had in relation to Alternative Day Competitions and Lady Captain pointed out that after numerous discussions at committee the consensus was that there should be no Alternative Day for major competitions. On those days the time sheet will be extended to cater for all ladies wishing to play. There will still be Alternative Day Competitions for Medals. Susan Murphy requested that the last hour be reserved for ladies. Jodie Wright requested that the current end time of competitions from April to September be extended. Ann Quinlan pointed out that evening players were happy to go out in 2 balls late & take their chances that they will get in with sufficient light Ann Quinlan asked the meeting if it was agreed that there would be no Alternative Day for Major Competitions and there was unanimous agreement in favour of no Alternative Days. It was agreed that there was no necessity to put the matter to a vote. Joan O’Leary requested that a Notice be put up at the Starter’s Office that Ladies have priority on the course on Tuesdays as some men had started to play on Tuesday afternoons. Annette Ward pointed out that she thought it should be the responsibility of the Starter to bring this to the attention of male players.

Lady Captain Eileen said that any incidences on the course which were brought to the attention of the Lady’s Committee had been notified to Council also it has been brought up at Council that the Starter should be more pro-active in this regard and with regard to late starters. The issue of slow play was discussed at length. Ann Quinlan pointed out that all ladies must abide by the rules and ensure that they are on time for their allotted tee time. Rita Purcell felt that the Starter should be telling ladies to hurry up. Jackie Horan felt that ladies should go on rather than wait for latecomers Ann Quinlan said that quite a number of ladies wait too long to tee off. To quote Ross “Some ladies expectations outweigh their abilities” Monica Purcell said that we all had a duty to lead by example. A further discussion was had in relation to off season prizes. Olive Dignam felt that there was too long an interval between the out of season prize-givings to allow ladies to get the best value from their vouchers. Lady Captain pointed out that the vouchers are posted out from October to March. She suggested that maybe in future they could either be left for collection with the office or posted out as the men do. She said she would check with the office to see which would be most suitable. Joan O’Leary thanked the Lady Captain and her Committee for a great year and wished the incoming Lady Captain Annette and incoming Lady Vice Captain Ann the very best for the coming year. There being no other business to discuss, the LC Eileen then presented medals to the medal winners. 8. Handover to new Lady Captain LC Eileen presented LVC Annette with her new blazer for 2013. The Lady Captain and Committee take office after the Club AGM which follows this meeting. 9. Closure of Meeting Lady Captain Eileen officially declared the meeting closed, thanked all the ladies for attending and wished them all well for the coming year.
